For some strange reason, it's remarkably difficult to find a decent firewood carrier/log tote nowadays. I find this very odd, since many people use wood for heat, and carrying your fuel into the house without one of these is not real fun (or practical). Anyway, I needed a new log tote, and I went about my search, assuming it would be an easy process... nope. I went to two major hardware stores (Home Depot and Ace), and neither one ever carries them, even though they sell wood stoves and accessories (this is in the northeast, mind you). Next, I looked online. Surprisingly, I found that while many log totes were available, they seemed to suffer from a similar flaw (according to customer reviews): the material that they're built from is substandard. This really boggles my mind... all you need to do is manufacture it with canvas, and the thing will last virtually forever. Yet, most log totes are built with cheap material that won't even make it through one season.

I finally found this particular carrier at a stove shop, priced at $28. I'm not entirely sure what material it's made from, but it's incredibly tough. The manufacturer also claims that it's weather prof, so getting it wet shouldn't hurt it. The handles are heavy duty, and they're attached with what looks like industrial strength stitches. I have no doubts that this thing will last a very long time. For those who are interested, it is made in the USA.
