This product is 27" long and was shipeed in TWO 16x16x16 inch boxes (square. The galvanizing looked great, handles had double spotwelds on each side, seams were originally watertight, BUT there is one negative (not amazon's fault) and one positive (amazon's 50% off pricing!) if you are curious read on otherwise that's the quick summary.
The ORIGINAL MFG. shipped the product to amazon (I pealed off the UPS label and found their label direct to amzaon by truck freigh my box was #27 out of 64 boxes in the shipment. The original mfgr chose to tape together 2ea 16x16x16 boxes in the middle to enclose the odball size (27" max tub size + 2.75" handles on each end = more than 32" total). As a result both handles were touching the original cardborard and somewhere in transhipment from the mfgr to amazon to me, it got squashed (i needed it asap and ordered w/ the $3.99 overnight service so ups only had it for 24 hours.)
Upon arrival, one end was severly dented out of position (i'll upload the photo) above. Had the original manufacturer chosen a 16x16x36" single box they could have put a 1.5" layer of foam on each end to protect the product.
Nobody can ship 100% perfectly I realize that but in this case they had both handles touching the outside box, which is not good practice in the shipping industry (and will not be accepted for a claim by the shipper, doesn't meet government shipping regs which require doubleboxing and a special foldover corner tape on all corners etc overkill here)
Otherwise, the product would have been 5 stars. The seams were great, the welds were great, it WAS a great product before shipping. It is clearly evident amazon did not open the original 2 square 16" box set but just slapped a new shipping label over the truck shipment label with the printout of my invoice underneath the label now forming a pouch. Now I have to go to UPS to return it. See photo for collapsed handle picture the handle at some point (who knows when) got squished inside the box and bent the metal, broke the watertight seam, and bent the sidewall of the tank. The boxes chosen track back to the mfgr not amazon, so it's not their fault. I once ordered a 96" long power outlet strip it took 3 trys to get it right by putting it in a tube on the 3rd try since no air freight container easily packed a 97" long series of boxes taped together. The tube, however, on that shipment was the right packaging. I only wish shipping departments would THINK before shipping and CHECK suspicious packaging for pre-damage before sending it out. I have used amazon for 5+ years in my business for office supples to mechanical parts. Big stuff is often troublesome but not always.
The good news is you can see in my uploaded photo on the tub the great quality on the spotwelds, they held tight through the shipment but the material gave way. I had to order a metal tank because my livestock chew through plastic & HDPE like tray thinking it's animal feed! Also amazon's price on the EXACT SAME TANK compared with the local feed store that stocks them is 1/2 (46 vs 98 dollars at the local store plus tax plus gas to get to the feed store and back it all ads up!) so amazon is not charging an arm and a leg on water troughs and in fact has a wholesale price right now good news for amazon and the customer!!)
I dinged one star because the damage appears to have happened pre-amazon receiving my box 27/64 by truck. The Manufacturer should not be using 2 square boxes on their product that are too small w/ handles they should use a 16x16x36. Therefore, it's not amazon's fault, it's the source as the box was never opened. Amazon, however, has no incomming inspection which would have caught the damage. It's really both parties amazon should double box shipments and check for damage, then reseal the box with accountability to the inspector pre-printed tape so we know amazon checked the product prior to shipment. That would have taken 30 seconds.
