We are fortunate to live in a home the previous owner installed fireplaces in the living room and dining room. However, I never liked sticking my head into the smoke firebox area to wrestle with smoldering logs to perk up a fire that is dying down.
As a kid, I worked at a local historical society and remember next to the big fireplace they had in the living room in the museum was a blow poker. I set out to see if one was still available commercially. Found this and ordered it two years ago.
Not only does it look great next to the fireplace, but it is by far the must have tool to keep the fire going. First poke the fire from afar, while standing up, due to the nearly 4' length. Once the glowing logs are repositioned, put the barbed tip in the middle of the glowing embers and give three or four gentle blows. Your fire will be back in business.
Since acquiring this blow poker, we have given it to any of our friends and family who own a fireplace. Makes a unique gift. Everyone had enjoyed it.
