I bought 2 of these at the same time, either of them work. One of them the needle sticks at 100 when the stove is blazing. The other goes up to temp but doesnt come down so after stove pipe is cool to touch still says 400. Tried playing with them with no luck. I would recommend the Condar Chimgard Wood Stove Thermometer Magnetic, which my parrents have, well worth the extra few dollars

Spring popped off and needle went to 900* . Had to put back together and bend back side of pointer to hold it in place. Seems fine now but should have ordered another Rutland.
