Exactly what we needed. The minor criticism would be, the sealant tube was aged. It was difficult to squeeze out.

Several years ago I had a stainless chimney liner installed, and ever since, haven't been able to use the fireplace because smoke would fill the room. The 6" smoke guard has really helped reduce the amount of smoke entering the living space enough that I feel comfortable using the fireplace again. Installation was easy and it looks nice (I ordered the black). Be sure to fill any gaps around the smoke guard and brick so smoke doesnt sneak out. i used a fire-proof fiberglass insulation to do this. in all, the smoke guard does a good job, I'd say the amoint of smoke coming into the room is about 10% of what it used to be.

Every time we used the fireplace smoke would come pouring out the front. This product solved the problem. Unfortunately our fireplace doesn't have a smooth surface so we used the extra heat-resistant sealant that came with to fill the gaps.

As others have mentioned it was somewhat difficult to initially mount the smoke guard, especially without smearing sealant everywhere, but with my wife's help we got the job done.

I've had a problem with smoke in the house for years. So much so, that I stopped using my fireplace. I installed the 6" smoke guard and no longer have the problem. The only problem I had was that I had to remove the door as it connected to the top of the fireplace. I replaced the door with a screen but would have preferred to keep the door.
