The original standard Type-B cap on our natural gas vent pipe was showing its age, so I figured it was time for a new one. This was a good thing, as the old cap fell apart when I was removing it!
A high wind vent cap isn't required for our location, but I've always thought one would provide better venting + it looks better on the roof. :)
The pros:
+ Lowest price I could find for a 5" Type-B high wind vent cap & the shipping was free!
+ All aluminum construction, so this will last.
+ Very well packaged, so it arrived in perfect condition.
+ Easy installation. Remove the old vent cap, then push on the new vent cap & that's it! No tools are required, unless the old vent cap is stuck on. Mine broke apart, leaving a piece that needed pliers to remove.
The cons:
None so far.
Notes:
▪ The vent cap comes with a light oily film on the aluminum, which I figured was from the assembly process. Not a big deal, as it's very light & easy to wipe off... or just leave it.
▪ This vent cap looked "HUGE" when I pulled it out of the box! Installed on the roof, it doesn't look that big... looks normal.
▪ The outside diameter of a 5" Type-B is vent pipe is 5-1/2", as is the inside diameter of this vent cap.
