Review of Fireplace Mesh Screen Curtain. 28" High (9-28). Includes two

Fireplace Mesh Screen Curtain. 28' High. Includes two panels, each 24' wide. This provides enough screen for a good looking natural 'drape' effect on the average fireplace. Cool Grip Matte Black Screen Pulls included. Valance Rod Kit is sold separately on Amazon.com for $69.

Originally bought this product based on product description stating it was a Condar mesh screen. Wanted Condar after going to their website and seeing their product was made in USA and they were a green company. However when I received product was not a Condar mesh screen, but some made in China screen. Asked seller and they stated they describe it as not being a Condar mesh screen. Turns out once its on your cart and you click on some obscure link there's some very fine print stating it is not what it says it is. A bait and switch. They offered a $10 refund for my disappointment, or I could ship the screen back (at my cost) for a full refund.

I also contacted Condar who said that this seller was not a distributor of their products but rather a competitor. They said they (Condar) fabricate and package their mesh screens in US but buy the mesh in bulk from a source in the US.

In the end the price was pretty much the same, and with a $10 refund was cheaper for the chinese mesh screen. To ship back and buy Condar screen would leave me in the hole for shipping costs. Was tempted to ship back and get full refund based on principle, but far too lazy. The chinese mesh screen is decent quality otherwise I would have. Can't speak for the Condar screen since I never received one.

All carefully calculated so they can charge the same price as a Condar screen and most don't notice or care it's not a Condar screen, or refund $10 and quit your whining (my case) and still make a profit, or the unlikely scenario that someone will be principled and energetic enough to spend the cost of shipping back and then buying Condar screen (minor restocking fee cost to seller). The more honest thing for them to do would be to not advertise it as a Condar screen and charge $10 less, but this way they get to scam some extra profit on any unknowing customers that think its a Condar screen for same price as buying direct but get to purchase with the comfort of Amazon purchase policies.

So if you really want a Condar, made in USA mesh screen, go to their website and buy direct, they seem to be an honest company. If you want a made in china of decent quality mesh screen thats advertised as a Condar screen but clearly pointed out on an obscure link in your cart that is it not a Condar mesh screen then get this one. I'm sure you can complain once you receive and get $10 off too.
