EDITED TO ADD: I complained about this fireplace having no insulation to the 3rd party seller, BestChoiceProducts. I had no problems with them offering to pick it up at their expense, and they refunded the original shipping also. BCP is great to deal with.

This fireplace was intended to replace a gel fireplace I bought 22 years ago that had seen better days.
It's cute, that's one thing I can say about this fireplace that's positive.
First, just some nit-picks. The depth measurement is inaccurate it's 6" front-to-back as opposed to 3.25" as stated in the description. And we know for this cheap price it isn't going to be genuine copper. I'm glad it isn't since bright copper wouldn't look as good as this. This is a dark burnished *copper-color painted steel* with striations in it to look like streaked wood-grain.
Now for the important gripe a safety issue: There's a reason this gel fireplace is the cheapest one sold here at Amazon. It's poorly built when compared to my old gel fireplace which had insulation attached to the back wall. The back wall is made of black sheet metal and the flames sometimes flicker and jump way over 12" high; width-wise, they sometimes touch the metal sheeting. This metal sheeting has only 1/2" at the most clearance from your wall. Drywall is especially vulnerable to these flames and heat. Hanging this on a plaster or brick wall I wouldn't be as concerned. My old fireplace had fiberglass insulation attached to the back of it, between the back wall of the fireplace and the living room wall.
I plan on returning this. I'm friends with a firefighter, and he said he would not install this fireplace in his own home as the safety of it concerns him also, especially installed against drywall.
AS A SIDE NOTE: I think most gel-fuel fireplaces are safe. I know since I've had one for 22 years! They can come in handy if you have a power outage in the winter and you need heat. I'm total electric so I have put it to good use when there's no electricity just recently the temp outside was 20 degrees, I used just 2 cans of fuel, and they burned for 3 hours and the temperature on the indoor thermometer dropped just 1 degree, keeping my entire home warm (using my old fireplace, not this one).

I love this little fireplace, and my mom who i bought it for loves it as well. The only downfall is you have to order the fuel online. I could not find it anywhere locally. It is beautiful, and light weight. It matches perfectly to the rest of our furniture. Its definately a show piece. make sure you dont buy the junior sized gel fuel, get the full size 13 oz cans or they will sit to far down in the holders. Also, the holders are the perfect size for jar candles.
