Just took delivery of this chair and am typing this review while breaking it in. Opened the box and the first thing I noticed was that the leather is more tan then I expected. From the online picture and the Taupe description I was thinking it would be a bit more off-white or cream. The next thing I noticed was the smell of leather and solid build of the frame. The wood is real and think as is the leather. The cushioning is firm but very comfortable. At 6'6" and 260lbs I still sink into the chair with plenty of room in the hips and head rest. Assembly was surprisingly easy considering the many pieces I removed from the box. I didn't attach the little table so I completed assembly in 40 minutes from the 9 step illustrated instructions (8 if you discount the final assembled illustration from step 9). The chair is a little low for what I intend to use it for. I have a sitting room off of the master suite in my house. I have a desk setup with PC, large screen LCD and some nice headphones. Sitting at the desk is where I feel lower then the office chair this is replacing. The circular base allows me to put this chair and ottoman right on the wall-to-wall carpet without the need for a plastic floor protector.

The minor issue I have so far is the recline adjustment. It's just a knob you tighten and loosen. As I mentioned I am on the large side and I really need to crank the knob in order to prevent the chair from reclining. We'll see how it holds up. If the recline adjustment was a little more secure this product would easily get my 5 stars.

I have a very similar and much more expensive Stressless Vega chair that this is modeled on. It cost $2500. The leather on the Stressless and the frame are better. The Stressless is also a little wider. I have to say that this Southern Enterprises chair is quite good. The material is of an acceptable quality, it doesn't look or feel cheap. I actually expected it to be cheap, but it wasn't. I had a minor issue with the table, which was my fault. I contacted Southern Enterprises and they sent me a brand new table. No charge. They could not have been nicer. I would definitely recommend it and would buy another chair.

I was a little apprehensive buying two of these recliners sight unseen, especially as the reviews had such varied ratings 1 to 5 stars. So I was very pleasantly surprised when they arrived to find them so well packaged and each piece was in perfect condition. Although it took a while to assemble the first chair and ottoman it was not as difficult as some reviewers had stated and of course the second one went together in half the time. My husband and I use them every evening and in spite of the difference in our height ( 6' and 4'10" ) we both find the chairs very comfortable. We were hoping the taupe color would be a light shade and it is and it goes very well with the contrasting wooden base. A friend had bought two from a furniture store and was very upset to find she had paid $300.00 more for hers so definitely a five star product!

Purchased 2 reclines w/ ottoman for the RV. One of the side tables were damaged during shipment. Manufacturer expedited shipment of replacements for both (exceptional customer support)! Easily assembled and it works in the toy hauler (i.e., mission complete within 25 minutestook less than an hour for both). Lightweight enough to place on the happy jack bunks during transit of the motorcycles (i.e., I lift them with no issues). Beautiful yet durable. Definite keepers! Highly recommended.

For me the jury is still out on this piece of furniture because of the insight I got as I put it together. For example, the ottoman is connected to the base with four small 1"L, 1/4 diameter bolts whereas it makes more sense to use a more robust bolt as people will be putting there feet up on it. The tension knob that controls the glide seems like another likely area for potential trouble. Torquing down the knob pushes a brake on the slide rail theoretically locking it in the desired position but a person can easily push the chair out of position with moderate shifting of body weight. This chair is leather, my wife did look at a competitive offering on a showroom floor and upon close inspection discovered that is was 20% leather, 20% foam, and 60% polyurethane and it was not much cheaper than this one. It is comfortable to sit or recline in. Will update if there are further developments to report.
