This mantel is attractive and easy to install. It was exactly what we were hoping for. It is well made of real wood, and has a nice cherry finish on it. We remodeled our fireplace with tile below and this above, and have received many compliments on how attractive this piece is.

Just as a note for anyone intending to use it in a fashion similar to above, the arched area along the bottom of the mantel sits flush with the wall when installed. In the event you are installing this around tile/stone, you will need to cut along that arch as opposed to mounting it over your tile/stone, which can be very challenging. I'm a novice, so this took a bit of effort and a few attempts for some of the tile pieces, but in the end, I was successful and the project turned out outstanding.

I recently ordered and unfinished mantel. It arrived within 3 days of placing my order. The very first day I stained it a light cherry to match some of the furniture in my room. I noticed right away that there were some glue spot around the joints. These areas did not take the stain at all. It made the mantel look very blotchy. I called customer service and they prepared my return and within a week I had a new one (this time I ordered the prefinished and boy did it look great).

We purchased this item (unfinished) for a home we are building, We inspected it upon arrival and found that a significant piece in the front of the mantel had been damaged and filled with wood putty. We were concerned that it wouldn't take the stain correctly. We called the company directly and after having to send them pictures, they agreed to take it back. We were instructed to use Amazon's return department, so we ordered a replacement, to which Amazon promptly overnighted.

This one arrived and looked good (on initial glance). When the time came to install the mantel in our home, we put it up on the drywall and the top of the mantel had a severe slope from front to back. It was SO Out of Square, you would have had to bring the top of the mantel out an inch just to level it out. When I started to look closely, you could see the POOR Construction and why it had such a bad slope.

The mantel looks great in pictures, and even looks good coming out of the box, but when you're putting this in your home, I want something to be proud of. I would have given a little better grade, had it not been for both mantels being of poor quality.

We remodeled our home and bought this for the formal living room fireplace. It was absolutely beautiful and elegant, and it was easy to install. It arrived very quickly and in good order, too. We are simply delighted with this mantel, and the price was excellent.

I would have given this piece 5 stars, the color is great and the quality looks good; but it came with a small chip on the back (part that goes against wall). Because the chipped part went against the wall I decided to keep the mantel as is. But seller should make sure not to sell defective products and make sure the delivery service used is careful.
