I have a charcoal grill, am fond of lump charcoal, and refuse to use ligher fluid as I can always taste and smell a differnce in the food. I spent time looking at bellows, and how expensive they were for being such a simple device. I resorted to just blowing on the fire instead. My wife saw me doing this one day and complained I was going to burn my face off...I admit there were days when I felt I had cooked more face than steak, but I i figured that's the price I pay for shying away from lighter fluid. One day, quite by accident I discovered if I blew through a simple drinking straw I got much better focus and results. Then my wife came out and found me with a straw in my mouth blowing into the fire. She didn't even scold me, she just rolled her eyes and went back in the house. She's a patient woman, that one. After using duckduckgo to search for something that would make me look less like an idiot to my wife, but still preserve my purist view of fire, I came across the firedragon. After agonizing for a few days over the price and trying to figure out if I could use something I already had as the poor-man's version, I ordered it. It's fantastic. It's sturdy enough to move large hunks of charcoal and the blow hole not only performs well but gives me a sense connection to the fire; which is something you'll either understand right away, or never will. Best of all...my wife approves of me once more.

The first time I saw this a buddy of mine used it while we were camping. The inside is hollow, with an opening between the fork prongs at the bottom and a mouthpiece on the top of the handle, so you can stick the fork in the embers of a fire under fresh logs, and blow concentrated bursts of air onto your fire through the length of the poker effectively and safely (provided you don't inhale without removing it first, of course!). Since it is hollow, it is very lightweight as well, weighing in at only 1.5 lbs. This item is a must-have for any camper!

The item was apparently damaged in transit. Box had been crushed and retaped. When I opened it, the mouthpiece had broken off from the tube, rendering it useless. (I would question whether the weld between mouthpiece and tube was strong enough to stand up to everyday use.) I returned the item for full credit and bought a bellows locally.

UPEDATE: Subsequently, the seller read the negative review above and sent me a replacement at no charge, along with a personal letter of apology. I tried it out the very same evening and can report it performed admirably -directing a powerful stream of air precisely where it was needed, with relatively little effort. A nice (and attractive) addition to my fireplace tool set. And kudos to Mango International for outstanding customer service.

The product itself works great!! No more re-lights of our camp fire! As long as you have embers the fire will light. Very simple idea but not without issue. I was extremely upset in the mouthpiece literally fell off during use only 2 months in. I attempted to re braze it only to burn a hole in the brass.....The connection very much needs to be improved or at minimum re work the product in all steel with a quality weld to avoid rendering the unit useless. This is not the only review I have noted with the same problem. I liked the way it worked but will not be buying another.

I started out with no tools for my fireplace, and upon finding this and using it for the first few times, I don't need anything else! The forked tines are perfect for picking up pieces of wood that have fallen off the grate, or moving big logs around on the fire while burning. The 'Blow Hole' feature is absolutely wonderful! Since I use my own natural logs from a branch that fell off my tree outside, some of them still have wet spots, when the flames die out I use this tool, blow into the embers, and WHOOSH up comes the flame again. I never have to relight with paper and matches so long as their is a red coal somewhere! Also, my husband takes great pleasure in just playing with it and blowing on the fire to make it bigger and flare up. So, an all-in-one lighter, poker/shifting tool for my fireplace AND entertainment for my husband (secretly making him do work) what's not to love! 100 % Satisfaction, and the name is cool too! :)
