I posted the photo titled "New green vs old red. More green ones have too little of the white tip.". As you can see, out of 20 matches of each color pulled in a handful right from the top, the green ones have quite a few with a white tip so small they are impossible to actually strike anywhere. The white scrapes off before the match ignites. Of the ones with more white tip, they still don't light as well as the red ones, say with your fingernail or on the fingernail or mini file that comes with a multi-tool knife. Since red ones are still available at places like an Ace Hardware for $1.49, this was a big waste of money especially with the shipping. So while I used to pick out the few bad ones from a box of red to reject from picnic/hike/survival kits, now I have to pick out the few good ones from a green box that qualify as usable for an actual strike anywhere match.

I'm rating this as 2 stars since 1 star is for a product completely worthless. These still work... mostly as strike on the box matches. Thumbs down on the match and the description that says "4) Lights easier (in my opinion)"

I could not find these matches anywhere locally but Amazon comes through again. The matches arrived in about 5 days. They are as described, three boxes of 300 each. The matches can be lit by striking anywhere so I can light my fireplace by striking the match against the bricks or floor. I prefer this over strike on the box because it seems that the striking surface is dull by the end of the box and I am repeatedly striking the match with about 1/4 at the end being "flame outs." With these you can also do, if so inclined, the striking a match on the bottom of the shoe. Tre Chic! Just like in the movies from the 40's. Too bad I don't smoke. The matches are sturdy and long. Not flimsy. You can light your fireplace in four or five different spots before the match is too short to handle and this means that you only use one. I was averaging three per fire before between needing multiple matches and "duds" so in the end these are economical. And I dip the heads in hot wax to make them waterproof and carry them in a special container and they are great for camping and barbecues, etc. I can light my grill even if it is raining or windy.

These matches have changed and been made cheaper. They are very difficult to light and don't stay lit long enough to serve any purpose. Seems the tip of the match has less "firepower" and the strip on the box is thin, weak and wears out quickly. I throw 3 or 4 matches away for every one that lights for more than two seconds. Not buying them anymore

Honest reviews on Diamond GreenLightTM Kitchen Matches - 3 Pack - 300 Matches per

I purchased the Diamond Green Light Kitchen matches because I thought that the price was good, they are better for the environment (being as they come from sustainably managed forests), and they were "strike anywhere" (how could I go wrong). Really, though, it was a poor purchase on my part.

The boxes are filled with matches that break or have very little match head, so I end up getting a successfully lit match one out of three matches. Additionally, the striker on the side of the box wore away nearly immediately. While I love the idea of strike anywhere matches, these are low quality matches that are not up to the job. I really wouldn't recommend these at all.

A lot of matches for a great price, great value, but. These are not really strike anywhere matches. It takes 10-15 matches to get one lit if you do not use striker on side of box. I am looking for some better matches for camping.
