We have big fireplaces and have big fires. So we need bigger tools so we are not burning our arms when we shift logs, etc.
These are nice big tools and they keep our hands and arms mostly out of the fire.
The only complaint I have with these also applies to all of the fireplace tools made from bar stock steel. The poker is worthless as a pulling tool. The "Barb" at the end is too far back on the poker (and not sharp) to be used to grab a log that is not suspended on other logs.
I am planning a field modification to this to put a sharper hook on the END of the tool. I'll let you know how that works out.
