This kit is basic. Two brackets, one screw, two rods and some directions that were written by a senile uncle. Apparently there are three different kits that these directions can be used for but they make no mention of which one you have so it's a guessing game. The directions also don't mention that one of the brackets and the included screws probably won't be used at all (probably... but it's up to you to determine how and if they will they will be used). Ever heard of a lintel? Me neither, google it before starting. Here is a link to proper instructions with pictures...Okay, guidelines say I can't link to a website so google this too:

The rod is a good quality. The kit doesn't include any bolts or screws, so be sure to review how it will install in your fireplace.

could have provided alternative installation options and brackets. We mounted the rod on the overhead interior face of the fireplace requiring spacers for the fasteners. The center bracket would benefit with 2 fasteners to stabilize when adjusting the screen curtain. The stacked arched stone opening required the above adjustments.

i rated this a three, not sure what the problem was, but this was difficult. My husband tried and got so frustrated i called a handyman. The directions seem simple enough, but he ended up using his own "devices" and an hour later i just told him to jimmy it because i was "done." This was to finish the opposite side of a through and through fireplace that already had one side done. Good thing, because the rod holder placement holes? would not let us close the curtain all the way. so we had to slide one hook out to restring later. anyways. research before you buy. harder than it seems. good luck

The rod is a very basic design, but our new curtain slides easily on it, and we are happy with it. When the rod arrived, no instructions were included in the package. But Uniflame responded almost immediately to my email inquiry about installation (and on a weekend, no less), explaining that the instructions are on the company's website.
