This is a nice alternative heat source for our 4-season room which has it's own heat (oil) source. It keeps the room evenly heated.

Others write that the fan does not move much air....Well, this fan is silent and it is not designed to move a ton of air. It works as described and it moves air nicely across the stove top surface. We have a soapstone stove and it seems to work nicely at moving some air across vs all of it rising. I look forward to having two fans moving air without the electical expense. I do not ever lift the fan without using the grab loop on top and I only clean the dust that has accumulated by using the brush adapter on my vacumm taking care never to touch the blades. I think the blades are balanced nicely and that aides in the silence of use. Good Luck!

This fan actually does work really well but only if you keep your stove reasonably warm. When in the "burn zone" at 400F and up this little fan moves air big time! It will start spinning at lower temperatures but the action starts when the stove is as warm as it should be, at 600F it spins so fast that we can slice bread and whip cream with it ;-)

I had borrowed my neighbor's Ecofan, when I first installed my wood-burning stove. It was hard to imagine the small fan could make much draft; so I started out as a doubtful skeptic. When I had to return the fan and used the stove without it, I couldn't believe the difference. The stove was only heating up the area directly around it; so I immediately ordered the 3-bladed Ecofan Airplus and used it to spread the heat on an entire floor (approximately 1500 square feet). I can notice results within the first 30 minutes of lighting a fire; because the thermostat, a good 40 feet away, shows how effective this fan really is. I was a doubter, but now I'm a fan!

I just this week had to replace my 12 YR old EcoFan. Living in Maine I burn 4-5 cords of wood each yr, so my woodstove and fan get quite a workout. The fan is an excellent product for moving hot air from the stove directly into the room at a rapid rate. No break (OR electricity) required! Frankly, I was lost the few days I was without my fan because it really makes a huge difference. If I got 12 solid years without any problems, I consider that a good value! (My old fan was just plain worn out). BTW this is the first review I've ever written. This poduct is well worth every cent and taking a few minutes to let others know it's value is a pleasure. You will NOT be disappointed:)

I've had these tools for two years now and really like them. I bought this set for the ash rake and being smaller for a wood stove. Build quality is fine and will probably out last me. This isn't a cheap set like you buy at one of the big box stores, which screw together. The reason for wanting the ash rake, so I can rake the hot coals to the front of the stove.

Cheap Mr. Heater 20,000 BTU Propane Blue Flame Vent Free Heater

We bought this item originally as an inexpensive, alternative heat source in the Winter, when we can lose electricity for hours, even days, when a bad storm rolls through.

It quickly became our main heat source -as unlike the two, 15,000 btu, electric space heaters we'd been using -this can heat a cold room within 30 minutes. And, all by itself, heats the entire house better than those two other heaters running together. And we only once turned it to the third setting. It usually stays on 1.

To clarify, we live in a very small space: 750 square feet in a very old, single-wide, with windows that no longer seal well. The weather here is moderately cold -we drop into the teens rarely, but stay solidly in the mid 20s-early 30s at night in winter. Days stay in the 30s. With the exception of if we have one of those storms, then all bets are off.

We ran this, with a little supplementary electrical heat during the day -I suspect if we'd got the 30,000 btu one, it would have heated the house completely, even on the colder days.

We don't run it at night, as it's in the living room. And because we're a little chicken of running propane when we sleep. But, in the morning, it brings the room quickly back to toasty -never more than 30 mins.

We installed it ourselves -with a bit of help from my uncle. Runs with two 50 lb=10 gal tanks. One tank lasts just about a week in the colder weather, and costs $24 to fill. So it's only a hundred a month -half what our heating bill was last year.

Last year, even with 3, electric, 15,000 btu heaters running, the house was never as toasty warm as it is with this propane heater.

Only note: If you use the tanks, only turn the knob slightly on. We found it eats through propane quicker if turned fully on. But has no apparent ill effect if the tank is only barely turned on.

And?

The blue flames are just lovely. :)

This has been a good little heater for me so far, I am using to heat a fish house. I'm not sure about the review stating that it need to be professionally installed though, to connect it to a 20 lbs cylinder (BBQ tank) you need buy a separate house with a regulator. It is available through Mr. Heater, part # F273072 (12' Propane Hose/Regulator Assembly), I purchased this at my local hardware store.

My only complaint on this heater is that the built in fan doesn't move any air. I'm not even sure why they put it in there, because it really doesn't do anything. I just bought a separate fan to circulate the air and have been pleased with it.

I recently installed this unit in my two car attached garage. I ran black pipe through the wall and attached it to a 20lb LP tank from my grill until I can get a bigger tank. The unit puts out good heat. It comes on at full so dont think you can adjust the output. But what it does do is bring the room up to temp then cycle off per the thermostat. Has some odor but I think that will disapate as it ages and burns off any newness. Battery operated ignition works very well. The only fault I find is the fan. It appears big enough but does not move a lot of air, design flaw perhaps. What it does do well is cycle on and off on it's own if you put it on the auto setting, good feature. I have not had it long enough to determin the gas usage, have my fingers crossed on that one. Overall I am very pleased as it out performs my electric ceiling mounted heater as well as a 23000 btu kerosene heater.

I have one of these heaters that I bought locally. If you want to connect it to a BBQ type jug you have to buy a hose and regulator. This is no big deal and anyone that has ever turned a wrench can hook this up.

We are full-time rver's. Had a Glo Warm 10k propane heater for 14 years in our old 33 1/2' 5th wheel trailer. Worked great. Bought a new 38 1/2' 5th wheel. The old heater just didn't provide enough heat in sub-freezing weather. This Mr Heater 20k is great. Heats the whole place to comfortable very quickly. I knew that it would look darker than the picture because the picture is backlit but I didn't think that it would be more green than blue. That said, it is still a beautiful piece. Sadly, my fireplace was shipped without a piece, the bracket to hold the glass panel in. The panel still fits snug, and until I get the piece from Customer Service, it seems to stay in place fine anyway. The flame effect is surprisingly,very good. I did not expect it to be as life-like as it turns out. The heater is very quiet, and actually warms both my living room and dining room, an area approximately 30 x 15, to a comfortable degree. I agree with the poster above that a separate setting for the thermostat and flame would have been great. Also, since it is RF, it doesn't work with my Harmony One remote, but the remote is small and only has an "on" and an "off" button. One strange thing, I looked on the Dimplex site, and can not find this model. Even if it was a closeout, shouldn't they still list the model?

I received this last evening. It arrived in two large boxes and required assembly. It is the assembly instructions that prevent me from giving the fireplace 5 stars. While the mantle/hearth was relatively intuitive, the fireplace connections to the hearth were separate and not as simple as they could have been. There is little good instruction regarding the installation of the glass front (which was pristine upon arrival).

Now to the good: Wow! The fireplace, both wood and fake fire are top quality when compared to others I've seen in big box retailers and it was considerably less money.

The remote turns on and off the unit only which makes good sense to me. The only reason I would have to adjust the thermostat would be if I were to move the fireplace to a different room. The thermostat is easily adjustable and the flame and heat can be controlled separately. The noise made from the unit is less than the space heater I'd been using in the basement and is certainly far more attractive.

I'm very pleased with the quality, fit, finish and look of this unit and I expect to enjoy it for years to come.

UPDATE: I've had this heater for almost two years now (12/12)and while I will admit that the heater has gotten a bit noisier, it's still more quiet than most other free-standing heaters. The flame and all other components are as good as the day I put it together. It heats well and the flames are as vibrant as ever.
