Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I've owned about a bazillion different fireplace lighters and I've hated just about every one of them. But not this one.

I expected this to be another lightweight poorly built semi-disposable lighter. Wrong. This lighter is awesome. It's very solid and much heavier than I expected. I guess I should have known it would be solid, because that's how every other Zippo product I've owned has been.

So why bendy? Honestly, I don't know. I'm really not sure why I would want to aim my flame around a corner, but now I'm glad that I can.

The safety and ignition switch are easy to use. It generally lights on the first flick. The fluid level window is easy to see.

The flame level adjustment works well. It's actually a solid metal wheel with a good knurl on it.

It also has a clip thingie that flips out of the base. I can't tell what it is. I don't think it's a belt clip, because that would be weird. It can't be a stand, because who would want to stand their bendy lighter on end (too dangerous--plus it wouldn't stay lit).

The head is very elegant. It doesn't look like any lighter I've owned before. I guess the closest comparison (in looks) is one of my high end Calibri lighters.

So I suppose the unidentifiable clip and the bendable neck make this lighter slightly enigmatic. And why not? Why shouldn't your good lighter have a touch of mystery to it?

All in all, I really do like this lighter. I like the look and feel. It's utilitarian and elegant, plus it's a great conversation piece. Your friends will fight for a turn to play with it.

TIP: If you've never owned a refillable lighter like this, turn the whole business upside down when you fill it. Turn your canister of butane upside down (with the spout facing down) and turn the lighter upside down (with the fill hole pointing up). Couple the two together and then push the canister in bursts. Some of these bursts will fail and some will succeed. After a few good bursts, your lighter is full and you're ready to light something (in a well ventilated area).

The Zippo does light, but not easily. The safety mechanism and trigger are difficult to operate -and I am a man with large and reasonably strong hands. I got the Zippo to replace a Bic pistol style disposable lighter. I am sorry I did not get another Bic. I suppose there is a reason pistols are shaped the way they are -long experience has found this to be an effective and simple design. In the Bic, the hammer is replaced by the safety switch. A similar design is used by my electric hedge trimmer. I suppose Zippo was taking extra care to make their device child resistant (and for something that starts fires that is not a bad idea), but they did an awfully good job of making it adult resistant as well.

I've purchased and fueled up (remember it does come empty on butane and get a canister as well) my new zippo flex neck lighter and have a couple useful notes to prospective buyers:

The design is good, and thankfully the type of rubberized coating doesn't have a sticky feel like many other products in similar coatings. It's much more like a matte black milk gallon in texture.

The electronic ignition uses an wire filament which runs across the mouth of the unit about 1/8 inch deep inside the opening of the fuel nozzle. It does seem robust, but not terribly durable. So if you're looking to be able to drop this safely out on a rock or tile flooring often, consider a more rugged product.

To further support the "multiple clicking" ignition failure other reviews are talking about: to a point they're correct. You need to hold the slider a second longer than should be strictly necessary to allow gas to begin flowing before completing the motion and hearing the "click" for the most reliable ignition. Much like on a gas stove where you can hear the low hiss of moving gas before applying the spark to ignite. If you just run the slide in a quick motion (which admittedly works great on most cheap Bic lighters with long necks) you'll need as many as 3 to 6 clicks before enough fuel has collected at the nozzle to get a flame. If you've come to expect fast lighters like the classic Zippo box that fail uncommonly per strike, I'd urge you to look at a different model.

The bending neck is as flexible as I'd like and the filament is still holding well considering I've already dropped the unit several times. That plus the lifetime warranty should keep me in good shape.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This lighter can be handy to light flamable products where you do not want your hand close to the flame. It feels solid, has an ample butane supply and its piezo-electric starter worked for me without fail. However, it did not work for my wife because the safety button and starter switch that must be pressed simultaneously are too difficult for someone with smaller or less strong hands to operate. I believe the strength required to operate it makes it virtually useless for many of those who do not posess strong hands. For this reason, I cannot recommend it. There is no reason the safety button and starter need to be so hard to work for safety reasons because their placement on the lighter are far enough apart to prevent an accidental flame for a child or an adult. I would recommend this lighter highly if the springs that provide resistance on the safety button and starter were weakened to permit all adults to be able to ignite the butane. Hopefully Zippo will be able to fix this problem and reintroduce the lighter because it seems to be a quality product in all other respects.

First of all, sleeping on high quality memory foam is a dream. Perfect amount of support on anything you put on it. I put a 2" toppper on an 8 year old futon that you could feel the frame under it and it was like sleeping on my parents $5500 bed.

*Two Things* you have to know, density is everything. 3lb is cheap, 4lb is average and 5lb is premium. 2lb has no 'memory' to it thus very little support. Easy to push in and it basically comes back out instantly.

Second is...IT AGES. I'm on my second Serta 4lb topper and both were awesome until about 8 months before I noticed that there's less and less 'memory'. At 11 months, it feels like 2lb foam that doesn't provide a lot of support but rather foam you would think you'd pack stuff with. I compared areas that would be compressed often and the most to unused corners (near the feet) and there was some but very little difference. So it seems use isn't the factor but rather age. I stuck a glass object on it and measured the depth it sank and was going to measure the time it took to sink but it was basically instantaneous compared to when it was new when it would sink like somebody in quicksand (can you tell I'm an engineer...).

So memory foam...Awesome...but has a shelf life. Something to keep in mind when considering to go foam. I don't know if the mattresses have the same issue but if I had to guess, they would probably be less affected.

I own a Tempurpedic mattress, which is my bed at home. I also own the Sleep Better 2-Inch Visco Elastic Memory Foam Mattress Topper, Queen, which I used on top of an Aerobed 18in Raised Queen Premium Guest Bed, Queen and slept on 4 nights per week for a few months to save commuting to San Francisco. I now also own the Sleep Better 3-Inch Visco Elastic Memory Foam Mattress Topper, Queen, which I'm using atop a friend's regular mattress that's otherwise like sleeping on a slab of granite.

First off, the foam for the Sleep Better mattress toppers is not the same as the brand name Tempurpedic foam. The Tempurpedic foam is significantly more dense, meaning: 1) it takes a bit longer to respond to your weight / body heat; 2) it gives you significantly more support; and 3) it takes a bit longer to recover when you move.

I actually slightly prefer the 2" topper on the Aerobed to my $1200 Tempurpedic mattress [boy, do I hate to say that!]. The 3" topper on the granite-like mattress is good, but is my least favored combination.

The 3" topper is too soft and too thick. I sink so deeply into it that it's actually some effort to roll over at night. I got used to it after a few nights, and no longer wake up to roll, but I found it annoying. It's certainly not a bad experience. If I hadn't tried the other 2 options, and was only comparing it to sleeping on the granite mattress from h*ll, I would've been thrilled with it. But knowing what the other options are like, it's my least favored of 3 good choices.

The Tempurpedic is a fantastic mattress, and I'll certainly keep it as my primary bed. My only niggling complaint is that, being temperature sensitive, my sleeping experience is different in summer vs. winter. In the hottest month of summer, the mattress is just a bit too soft, and my back isn't optimally supported. In the coldest month of winter, the mattress is a bit too hard. It does soften up after I've been in it for a few minutes, but it's noticeable when you first get in it.

I really like the combination of the Aerobed and the 2" topper. The Aerobed let me adjust the overall firmness of the mattress and provided all the support. But the tufting of the Aerobed results in deep divots in the surface, which are not comfortable. The 2" topper smoothed out the divots and provided excellent cushioning, without being so deep that I sunk into it and lost the mattress's support.

The brand name Tempurpedic products are definitely superior to all competitors I've tried, so if you can afford them, go for it. If not, the Sleep Better products are good options. I recommend the 2" topper over 3". It's more comfortable, cheaper, and your sheets fit more easily.

I'm writing this review from my bed which I now find to be so comfortable, I don't want to get up.

I originally bought this to put on a hard futon that guests sleep on.

But I found it to be so comfortable that I'm using it on my bed now.

It arrived compressed and needed about 24 hours to expand to its full size.

Even at its full size, it is a 1-2" smaller than my queen size mattress.

I think this is on purpose so that your fitted sheets will still fit.

It did smell a little but that went away in a few days.

I recommend airing it out in the garage or on a patio.

I have been using it for a month now and I has definitely improved my sleep.

I used to toss and turn a lot more. I would wake up in the middle of the night and find my arm was numb.

Now the bed conforms to me and I feel less pressure points. My wife also feels she gets better quality sleep on this mattress and doesn't feel as achy when she wakes up.

A mattress covering would be nice too. It doesn't come with one, so expect little pill balls when you change sheets.

This electric fireplace/heater was great until it completely fell apart under its own heat. It lasted about 2 or 3 weeks and then I noticed something looked wrong. I opened the door to investigate and the back plate had fallen forward. When I opened the door, the door is connected to a side plate and the whole thing just came off. When I looked at what had happened, I realized that underneath the exterior which is made to look like metal there is this stuff that looks like recycled cardboard. The heat just broke it down. And it just tore loose. When I tried to turn it over to find the serial number which the seller had requested, the fake logs that were on the bottom fell out. The whole thing just seemed to disintegrate from its own heat. The seller was decent and gave a refund and they will make the effort themselves of dealing with the manufacturer who did not readily respond. I have been buying through Amazon for over a decade and have never had a bad experience before. I have never had to return anything before. This is a completely defective product. I would not have given it one star but that is the lowest rating allowable.

I initially bought a used Dimplex DS5629 on eBay. It was shipped in the original packaging via FedEx. When it arrived, a leg was broken and the mirror inside had exploded -glass everywhere including in my finger. The seller was kind enough to give a total refund. After that experience, I warily ordered another new unit from Ozbo on Amazon Marketplace. I chose the seller because of price and proximity figuring that the less far it had to go, the less chance for trauma. I received the item promptly, again via FedEx, and actually witnessed the driver take the item off the truck, slinging the box upside down over his shoulder and then almost sitting it down on its side in my garage. My heart sank even though there was no external damage to the box. When I took the item out of the box, I was relieved to see that it grossly looked fine except that the logset was slightly disloged. I set it up in the bedroom and repositioned the logset. It worked perfectly. Settling back in a chair to enjoy the show, I noticed that there was an asymetrical reflection off the mirror. So I opened the door and noted that the mirror, which is held in place by grooves in the sides of the cabinet, was partially dislodged. This was because one of the sides of the cabinet was slightly displaced outwards at its top. The fact that two screws that hold the sides to the front top metal bracket were never put in might have contributed. So I carefully relocated the mirror into its grooves and pushed the side of the cabinet back into place, securing it with the missing screws in the front and further beefing up cabinet integrity by adding angle brackets between the cabinet sides and top on the inside of the cabinet. So now everything is secure and looks as it should.

There is no beef with the cosmetics of this item. It looks great, the heater works well, and the flame effect is outstanding. However had the mirror been totally disloged, this unit would have also been toast. This manufacturer needs to beef up cabinet integrity and/or packing and needs to VERY prominently display "Fragile" and "This Side Up" on the outside of the box so that FedEx won't sling it around like a sack of potatoes.

The front viewing are is large enough so you can view the ambience of the flames without having any extra grids to look past. It has a nice sheek look and is so easy to use. The stand looks very nice and has plenty of shelf and drawer space for everything I need. The only downsides are that the TV cannot be turned without moving the entire stand, and the drawers are a bit tight and can stick on the way in or out. Assembly was fairly easy, though a few parts were mislabeled or the labels fell off.

I purchased this as a gift for my wife and went through the instructions step by step in setting it up in an existing fireplace only to find that while it looks great it does not however produce hardly any heat at all. Unless you're standing, not sitting like you would a real fire place, but standing literally directly in front of it and over it you will not feel any heat. I contact the seller and was basically told that, "it was what it was", and I'd have to deal with it. Highly aggravated now since I already went through the not so simple task of trimming it out in order to fit the existing opening, as well as running wires up to the attic and then down behind the wall through to properly mount the thermostat control I now had to undo all I had accomplished in order to package it back up and send it back due to no cooperation or help of any kind from the seller. Amazon however was and usually are easy to deal with on returns. I would NOT recommend this product if you are expecting it to maintain some warmth in a room any bigger than a small bedroom or large closet. But again, we were impressed with it's all around look. So just don't purchase on any grounds to based on using it as a heater.

First off, once installed this is a great way to upgrade the look and functionality of your fireplace. Having glass doors that form a tight seal over the opening can save you a lot of energy -once the fire has been reduced to smoldering embers, you can close the doors and leave the flue open and you won't lose very much heat through the chimney.

The thing that I worried about the most when I was looking at these was the installation -I didn't want to have to drill into brick if I was going to do it myself. I decided to take a chance, figuring I'd return it if it wasn't compatible with my fireplace. The installation wasn't as easy as it could be, but was by no means difficult. The easiest method, which involves no drilling, only applies if your lintel bar (the bar that runs along the top of the opening to the fireplace) is between 2" and 3" wide (for the Small size specifically -I'm not sure about the Medium and Large sizes of this product). If it's within that range, you can use the clamps to fasten it to the fireplace, and won't need to do any drilling. In my case, it was narrower than 2", so I had to drill two 7/32" holes into the metal lintel bar, then use the thread-cutting screws to fasten the fireplace cover to the top. As luck would have it, I overtightened one of the screws and it snapped, so I had to run to the local hardware store to buy a replacement.

In the end, it wasn't very difficult and it looks great.

Well-made solid piece. The cabinet-style doors are a great improvement over my old bi-fold doors. I really like that the mesh screens also open like cabinet doors rather than sliding on a track. The burnished bronze color is exactly what I was looking for it isn't gold or shiny, instead it is matte brown. During a remodel of our den, we wanted to upgrade our tired, onced polished, now tarnished brass fire place doors. We saw a display at Home Depot for these screens, but they would have to special order the Enfield burnished bronze model-estimated delivery time 14-20 days. Went home and ordered this model from AMAZON, saved $60 and it was waiting for me on my doorstep 4 days later. We were sold on the quality when we saw it at HD, but getting it installed (which was a snap) and firing up the gas logs, the screen really made the room. Highly reccommend this screen and as usual, AMAZON came through with flying colors!
