Ok, I read the reviews and decided to buy this product. I waited for a package to arrive and instead a very small envelop comes... that's right an envelop. In it is a yet smaller thin plastic bag with a tiny sample like amount of this product. NO more than an ounce. I went back to the Amazon site and re read the product description. Guess what, no quantity or weight indicated. There isn't enough product for a doll house fireplace, let alone a real home fireplace. What really hurts is the 8 dollars shipping which is non refundable! This is a two postage stamp item.

I am a big Amazon fan but this is the worst shopping experience I have had. $ for one ounce, maybe less, of product plus 8$ more for shipping is tantamount to Fraud. I am embarrassed to admit I even bought this but i thought i should warn others...

You will be burning up brighterPlatinum Bright Embers than these embers when you see what you just wasted your money on.

If you have a gas log set, you need these embers. Replaced my old embers with these platinum ones and what a difference it makes! Your fire will burn hotter, cleaner and brighter just like the real thing. Was a little skeptical at first myself but for the price, it makes your fire a much more enjoyable experience all the way around.

The Amazon reviews posted at this time accord with my assessment. Good product. expensive. The shipping charges were nearly 1/2 the price of the product. That said, it was worth it.

by way of background i've converted my last 3 fireplaces to fake logs starting in the late 80s 2 brands of ceramics initially which didn't work well for me, then about 15 years ago a set of fiberglass logs that i really like. I have been recharging the fake embers about every 5 years all along with acceptable results. although pleasing, the embers never looked realistic for the absence of glowing chunks. When I got ready to recharge again this winter, i saw the Platinum Bright for the first time. The reviewers seemed to agree with the manufacturer that this gives the appearance of the glowing chunks that i wanted.

Well, they work just as advertised and give the old glowing embers much greater appeal. This one small bag of product (just a few ounces) is enough to add some realistic effects to the old logs and embers (i did not recharge the old embers, just added the platinum brights. I have a 36" hearth, and this one small bag did the trick for me. (n.b., i only added the PB atop the embers that were already glowing and made no attempt to rearrange and i'm satisfied with the result).

I think the product is worth the money paid, except for the outrageous postage. All said, recommended with the caveat that it might be worth your while to see of the local hardware store has them and spare you the postage. Product_A; Postage=D

Like a previous reviewer, I was a bit taken aback at the small package, however once I went to put the embers in my fireplace, I realized I only needed half the package to fill the space in my single-side, full size fireplace effectively. In fact, once I turned it on, I probably could have put 1/3 of the package in and had a similar effect. I agree that the $8 shipping charge is excessive, hence the 4 stars instead of 5, but the embers do burn brighter than what we had previously (installed by the previous owners of our home.)

This item does just what it states,the life like embers looks very cool. I'm glad I purchased this product! The shipping charge for such a little box is to high. The directions were easy to follow and the product was new with a sealed bag. Very nice product
