We purchased this product to go in front of a gas fire place, which does get pretty warm. It will serve its purpose, but it is not very stable. If it was a wood fire place, I would want something with more weight and a lot of stability. However, it is very pretty. Although it did arrive with a few of the decorative elements off, so we had to glue them back on. I would recommend E6000.
