Hands down the best starter I've used, and if the guy I get it from is true to his word, what looks like a cellophane wrapper is actually made from some kind of tree gum resin. And I believe it is paraffin, or it smells like it-

I use it to start the kindling and light it (it doesn't flare up but rather burns a slow steady flame) and walk away, never fails.

First came across these burn packets at the RV Expo in PA; and fell in love with the ease of portability while camping. But, they really showed their convenience at home. We have a home wood furnace and just one of these little white packets gets the wood going. I don't have to search for yesterday's paper (or get in trouble for burning the paper before anyone has read it). We are on our 4th or 5th box in three years and will continue to keep a box on the shelf for quite some time. Good, simple, product.

I bought a fabulous new fireplace insert, but still dreaded the messy fire starting process. These Fire Starters eliminate the need for paper. Just scrunch up one tiny packet and light it. Top it off with some kindling, and you're done! Men love to make fires, but I don't have one (a man), so this product really appeals to me.
