Being used in airtight fireplace insert.
Directions for use indicates cold stove. Would prefer use in continuously
buring fireplace.

I live in a newer home that has a vent tube going up from the fireplace and not a traditional brick or stone fireplace. This works great in between professional cleanings to help keep the creosote from building up inside the vent tube. Make sure you follow the instructions and only throw it on hot coals, not a newly lit fire. If the coals are not really hot it will extinguish the fire.
