I live in a newer home that has a vent tube going up from the fireplace and not a traditional brick or stone fireplace. This works great in between professional cleanings to help keep the creosote from building up inside the vent tube. Make sure you follow the instructions and only throw it on hot coals, not a newly lit fire. If the coals are not really hot it will extinguish the fire.

I purchased this fire pot trio for use in an outdoor fireplace. The fireplace is located inside a screened porch. This works well for safety issues. Flames are visable, but not large enough to get out of control. There's no messy ash to clean after, just more time for enjoyment. I was so pleased, I purchased a second trio to fill the entire firebox. Realistic cracking sounds and visually appealing.

I ordered these to use for welding base so it was ok they came damaged. I would not recommend this to anyone who wants all 6 to come intact. They were not packed very well and UPS is not a white glove delivery service. The corners were chipped in varying degrees on all six

I bought these for my enameling station. I built them up like a house and put the very hot enameled piece into it so it cools slower and at a more even heat. I also use the extra blocks for soldering. They are thinner and longer then a normal brick which makes it allot easier to work with in the way I do. They are very affordable as well, at my local fireplace shoppe they were almost double! Even with the expensive shipping this seller has. You also have to understand that the bricks are VERY heavy so taking that into consideration shipping is very fair.
