This mantle is a beautiful dark oak with cherry undertones. The flames are realistic, and the logs look nice when the fireplace is on or off. You can feel the quiet heater blowing from a distance; it blows down and away. The reflected logs give the illusion of the flames dancing in the middle of a random pile of logs. Ember bed glows and pulsates. Assembled in minutes with a phillips screwdriver, and I am not that handy. Solid, beautiful, heats the room. Very satisfied.

This log rack is simply designed, easy to assemble, extremely sturdy, high quality, attractive, and holds a lot of wood. We will be using this product for decades. The style is timeless and the color of the metal is neutral. It is made of solid heavy iron not flimsy hollow tin tubes. It is also a great size not too wide and allows you to stack wood safely even higher than the stand itself, increasing the capacity. Highly recommended. Would definitely buy again or give as a housewarming gift.

The most important feature was a solid build. This is a really nice solid iron holder. It holds a perfect amount of wood for our occasional evening fires in the winter. We were looking for a hearth rack that was not too fussy, didn't take up too much space, and yet could hold enough wood to get us through two days of rain at our cottage in Maine. This rack is terrific! It looks like it was made to go with our new wood stove, it just sits quietly but elegantly next to the stove, and it doesn't trip people up. Highly recommend!

I have had several hearth racks that were all fancier than this and they all eventually broke. most were pop or diecast metal that you can't wield. This rack is increadably stong, holds more logs than you would think and is finished well. Would not hesitate to recommend to a friend.

We love this fireplace. It arrived in great condition and several days earlier than we expected. It works great and looks fantastic. We couldn't be more pleased. It replaced a fireplace that used the gel cans for a 'real' fire effect. The gel cans were really expensive and, although they give us the sounds of a real fire, they also gave off an unpleasant odor. Now we're looking for something to attach to this fireplace that will give it the sound effects we enjoyed with the gel cans.

The "firebox" for the unit is good. The blower is fairly quiet. It has an LED read out behind the top vent that comes on to show the temp and the setting. Once it warms the room to your setting it turns off the heater. Flames are above average in appearance though they will of course not fool anyone into thinking they are real.

Assembly was typical for these kits. They didn't include or "require" glue. However, I always use Elmers wood glue to make sure the joints are solid. It was about 2 hours from unboxing to cleanup.

The appearance is good, but not as "real" as I had hoped for. The front pillars and decoration are made of resin (plastic) and not carved wood. Unfortunately, they way overdo the "old" look by intentionally distressing (damaging) the actual wood with intentional pitting and nicks.

Overall I am pleased. It is both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional for warming my 300 square foot study.

I drilled a small hole in my vent stack by the wall and squeeze in (about 5). Similar to using tomato dust. Built a small fire and it gets carried up chimney. Really helps with creosote, including glazed. Not a quick fix, may take a couple months

I have used many creoste cleaners and this is by far the best. My clean out door actually has chunks of creoste loose on the bottom. Easy to use.
