Use Kwik Shot every winter. Tried others but nothing found to be better or easier.We heat only by seasoned hardwood with inside wood stove. Makes chimney cleaning easy and keeps chimney dry which means SAFE. No wet kreosote to burn or try to brush thru. No chimney FIRES! Really works. We clean chimney maybe twice a winter and get a five gallon bucket full at most and it's all dry. Use two sticks the first week then one a week. Sometimes when it's not so cold spring and fall and I burn slow I use two a week or ten days.Normal burning only one a week. I buy a box for about forty bucks and it lasts a winter and then some. Keeps well and just throw in hot burning fire for ten minutes and your done. Would not burn without them. Be SAFE and use these or something.

I would highly recommend this item to everyone who has a wood burning fireplace or stove.

We use our fireplace a lot during the winter months, not so much for heating but for ambiance, and we have it cleaned annually by a certified chimney sweep. But during the burning season, we use a chimney cleaning log about mid-January or so and one at the end of the season. In between, a Kwik-Shot on a weekly basis, and we always get an A-plus from the chimney sweep and a "keep doing what you're doing."

This definitely is a product that works!!! And buying in bulk is a money saver.

This product is NOT 36 inches on any side, or even from any corner to corner. This is the second one I've received now. The product description is clearly listing as a width of 36". I've ordered 2 now and both of them were an actual 27" wide. This is a pretty big difference when you've got a certain size opening that you have to place the insert in. It does appear to have a trim kit along with it and maybe this is where they are able to say that the item is 36" but beware. The heat isn't much either but it's only a 5000 BTU unit so I would say that this is an accurate part.

As far as the look of it I definitely like the look and the flames. That part is great. I gave the 2 stars for the BTU's being listed correctly and for the realistic flame look it has.

I would like to add something to this. Due to the massive amount of issues we've had with something as simple as purchasing something from Amazon(which I'm a major supporter of and know that the issues with this particular experience is a fluke), we opted to give up foolin with it and just deal with the gaps being present. However the product appered to have evidence of being a returned item. The screws holding the casing together were actully not all there in random locations as well as several of the screws having sheet rock dust inside the phillips head screw crevices. No valid reason for this if it had been straight from a factory and unopened. Second There was a very strange noise that came from inside the insert that is a constant sort of old door hinge creaking sound. This is happening with out any heat setting or blower on at all. No noise should be heard if all you have on is the flames. But again the look of the insert as far as realistic flames go are very nice and my wife and I do agree on that as a good thing. So I really hope this will help someone if only one person to avoid the 2 month long everpresent headache this was for us. good luck and happy deal hunting. [:~{)}

The rug looks nice, although the wood stove season hasn't started yet, so I don't know how it will hold up or whether it will stain.

But it arrives rolled up in a box with only minimal directions. My husband unrolled it and flattened it out and almost immediately got a hot itchy rash from the glass. We quickly looked up fiberglass burn and washed his hands and knees where he had unrolled it and used duct tape to try and remove the glass fragments from his skin.

Then he was ok, but the rug should have a warning on it or on the directions telling people not to touch it with bare skin, but to use gloves. Then it wouldn't have happened. We just didn't have much experience with fiberglass products.

We have a small house, just under 1000 square feet. Any new appliance has to take up less square footage, if possible, than the one it's replacing. This Bosca fit the bill nicely. I was concerned, though, about a few things before I bought it. Was the hopper big enough to keep the stove burning 24 hours on a minus ten degree day? Was the force of hot air strong enough to warm up the farthest room? Was it easy to keep clean? Was it reliable?

I'll address each concern with answers, now that I've had this stove for one month. I should mention that I do not use this with a thermostat, so it is constantly on.

The hopper holds about 60 70 pounds, and during one very cold stretch that included a night with temperatures hitting 25 below zero, we kept it on medium high all day. The house stayed at 70 degrees with no other source of heat being used. The full hopper lasted almost exactly 25 hours at this rate. This is better than I expected. On normal cold days, say, 20 degrees above, we keep it on low and it lasts 36 hours.

The force of the blower is stronger than that of a stove I had that was designed for twice the area. Far better than I expected.

It is so easy to keep clean that I don't even need to wash my hands after vacuuming it. Because the air intake is from underneath, not through a space adjacent to the front glass as in so many pellet stoves, the front glass stays clean for days. The burn-pot is so ingeniously designed, and this stove is so efficient, that you can burn several bags of pellets before you even think of having to clean the burn-pot. And when you do, you'll see it's a two-part pot: you pull out the U-shaped part with holes, scrape it clean, and place it back into the burn-pot holder. Voila, you're done!

It has never let us down. We can set it, fill the hopper, go away for a day, and come back, and it's firing away beautifully.

Our experience with this stove has made us enthusiastic about looking for other appliances made in Chile.

I attempted to put the fan into the fireplace and it was over 1/2" too big to go into the opening! I packaged it up to return and was shopping for a smaller unit. As I was measuring the opening to ensure the next one I ordered would fit, I realized that I may gain some clearance if I removed the screen and glass from the fireplace. I removed the glass and screen and then measured the opening. I gained about 1/2" clearance so I unpackaged the fan and had to figure out a way to get it in. It finally squeezed in... Why am I saying all this??? Because I'd hate to see people return the fan after the initial attempt. It is a great unit and really pumps the air out and is very quiet. The instructions were easy to follow and it was very easy to install, once I got the fan squeezed in.

The unit arrived quickly, in a well packed box, with all the contents and complete instructions included.

It did not take long to install. Just remove the bottom grill on the fireplace and slide the fan in. My fireplace (DV6000) already had a place for the temp sensor and the variable speed control, so it was really easy to install. I turned the fireplace on, and in about 10 minutes the fan unit started to run (it has to reach 110 degrees). I had it set on high, and it seemed to move allot of air which is very good. It sounded a loud, so I turned down the speed, and noticed that the fan motor seemed louder at lower speeds. The motor has an annoying loud hum. I am going to contact the supplier, to see what the problem is. Based on a review from another reviewer, the unit is very quiet. Either that reviewer is deaf, or there is something wrong with the fan that I got.

UPDATED: I contacted the seller, and told them of the problem. They were both friendly and helpful. They offered to exchange the unit, and I decided to give it a try. They sent me a prepaid return label, I returned the unit, and received an exchange a few days later. This exchanged unit is very good...no loud hum. I recommend this product and this vendor to anyone.

I installed this in the original EOM location on my Quadrafire Wood Stove. The fan is unbelievably quiet, really produces a good air flow. Had no issues with the install, I just snipped the power leads from the old motor and installed snap connections, hooked them up to the new blower unit. Put everything back in the blower cabinet, and put it back on the stove. Ran first time with plug in and I was able to keep the OEM reostat and wiring. Recommend this unit over the EOM unit. MUCH much quieter and 1/2 the price!

These Bic lighters are a staple at our house and have proven to be continually reliable.

This two pack contains one straight 11 1/2" lighter and one 13 1/2" lighter ~

the later contains a 4" section of wand that is so flexible it will bend to a 45 degree angle.

We've found that feature to be very useful and convenient many times.

We've tried other brands but found their child-resistant feature more difficult to use .

Naturally this lighter has resistance ~ it's child-resistant ~

but the distance between the two buttons ~ the pressure needed to move them both with one hand is do-able.

There are other brands we've tried that aren't do-able.

This is our lighter for all candles ~ it's especially convenient for jars ~ the grill and fireplace.

Rarely do they not light the first time.

We've found that if they don't ~ it seems they have a fume/air block at the tip ~

we learned to blow a mouth-full of air in the end and then it lights ~ if it's not empty of course.

I've never counted the amount of times they light but they seem to go a long way.

We've found that other folks also like the convenience of this lighter ~ it makes a great gift.

Bic has a performance policy that if you're not satisfied with this lighter

they'll replace it at no cost.

Found these lighters to be most useful. As well, they tend to last longer then the average lighters of the same type but not the same quality. I still have one of the lighters left and still using it. I Googled this problem and a backpacker's forum confirmed, this is a soot-producing fuel that (according to its MSDS sheet) contains up to 10% isopropyl alcohol, causing it to be unsuitable for indoor use and unsuitable for cooking use. Amazon apparently does not accept returns of this product.
