I love this candle holder! I switch it out between my entertainment center and a short china hutch in my dinning room when I have company. It's made for a 4" wide candle but, I couldn't find any that size that were reasonably priced. However, it looks good with the standard 3" candle which is what I'm using presently. My china hutch is 6 and 5/8" and one foot hangs over a bit. It's made for a 7" wide shelve. Last Christmas I purchased pinecone candles (4" at Big Lots) and it was an exceptional display. I first saw this in a catalog, which was really pricey. I'm so glad to find the same quality piece at a much lower price. I really love this piece with the 7 candles; it's stunning!

We purchased this screen as a temporary fireplace covering until we install a fireplace door. While the design is okay, the quality is flimsy. Also, when it arrived, there was a dent in the center (the top of the screen part right under the leaf design) which kind of threw off the center of the piece. My husband was able to fix it well-enough, but it still looks like something we picked up at a garage sale instead of something we ordered brand new.

All-in-all, it fits our temporary purpose. But if I was going for something long-term, I would not purchase this particular screen.

Not the most sturdy screen, but it works to cover the dirty fireplace. Decorative leaves are a nice touch. I'm pleased with it.

Fell apart the minute I opened the box. Took 2 of us to hold it to put it back together. Very thin metal. Luckily we are using it for a fireplace that is not used so we do not have to move it. Looks pretty once put back together though.

This mantle is a beautiful dark oak with cherry undertones. The flames are realistic, and the logs look nice when the fireplace is on or off. You can feel the quiet heater blowing from a distance; it blows down and away. The reflected logs give the illusion of the flames dancing in the middle of a random pile of logs. Ember bed glows and pulsates. Assembled in minutes with a phillips screwdriver, and I am not that handy. Solid, beautiful, heats the room. Very satisfied.

I originally avoided purchasing the optional blower with my wood stove because the factory model ran more than $100 I figured there were cheaper options online. After several years of looking, there finally are a Chinese factory is knocking out aftermarket fans at about half that price. Unfortunately, that's about all they're worth.

Pros: Installation was a snap (holes lined up reasonably well with the factory holes in the stove).

Cons: Noisy and does a mediocre-at-best job of moving air (air flow is barely noticeable).

Before this, I had a white trash solution of a box fan blowing on the wood stove it was quieter and much more effective. I may have to go back to that route.

Bought for our cabin. Wood storage area is not real large about 4 or 5 quartered logs will fit in it at once. The "logs" in the picture must be real small. Tools that come with it are very useful. Overall happy with it.

It looks amazingly like a real wood fire in our fireplace. It's easy to install, as long as your fire box is big enough, and you have a nearby electrical outlet. This "deluxe" model DFI2310 differs from the standard model DFI2309 by having a larger, brighter, even more realistic flame, for a somewhat higher price. The heaters can be turned off completely, for when it's warm, but you want that cozy fireplace ambiance.

On the "needs improvement" end, the remote control only turns the insert on and off; it does not control the optional heating elements, which can only be turned on or off at the unit itself. Mine arrived with all switches "on" so I got heat as soon as it was plugged in. It would be better to ship with all switches set to "off."

Also, there's no crackle or pop sound, so if wood fire sounds are important to you, this is not the electrical insert for you. However, if crackles and pops aren't that important to you, and you're looking for a very realistic looking, reasonably-priced unit with heating options, this is one well worth considering.

I'm writing this review because of how helpful I found other reviews before buying this fireplace. I did my homework, reading some 150+ reviews and watching Youtube videos of people's Dimplex fireplaces, before deciding on this model and it paid off! This is probably the best electric fireplace out there for the money (if there's a better one I can't afford it anyway!) I very happy with it and everyone who comes to my house thinks it looks very real (they all knew I bought a fake one so I'm still waiting to "fool" someone who doesn't know!) CSN (the company that provides the fireplace) has the BEST customer service dept to call. Whenever I called, I got someone different and they were ALL very nice and helpful.

The fireplace flames look as real as you can get, so real sometimes you think you hear crackling! It does make a slight whirring kind of sound (motor?) but you can only hear it in a quiet room (no TV, etc) and only if you're really listening for it. But it is an electric product so I guess you can expect SOME kind of sound to come from it! Like I said, it's very faint.

Overall, I'm very pleased. I used to use about 10 candles in my fake fireplace and always worried I'd start the house on fire and had to deal with dripping, etc. so it's nice not to have that worry anymore! The logs look very realistic (this model has the ceramic logs, not the styrofoam ones) and I don't know how they do it but it's pretty cool the way they make the flames (there's nothing you can "stick your hand in to see if it's real", it's done with a mirror somehow). Plus, don't be put off by other reviews that say they don't like the "half moon" effect on the background. I was worried about that but when I got it, it looked perfectly realistic to me! I've tried the heater to make sure it works, but it's still hot in Florida so I won't be using it for a while! It seems to work great, I just can't tell you how well it heats up a room at this point because it's not cold outside! I had no problem with the cord but then my outlet is next to my fireplace.

I checked out the fireplaces at the home stores and their flames looked so fakey compared to this one's and they were the same price or more. So trust me, I did my homework and researched to get the best at the best price, so you can trust my review!

1/12/11 update: I've had this fireplace for a few months now and absolutely love it! Everyone who comes over thinks its real! As for the heat, well, it's been pretty cold here in Florida and I have to say, you really can only feel the heat if you're standing right in front of the fireplace! It may "warm" the room up a bit, but if you're sitting on the floor in the room you can't really feel it blowing on you. It sort of blows up and out instead of directly forward and I don't know if this makes a difference or not. It's still a heat source but I use my central heater (mostly because I just had to buy a new one last year and it works great) the majority of the time.

9/02/13 update! I STILL LOVE this fireplace!! It's incredibly realistic and fools a lot of people who come to visit! The bulbs finally burned out (after nearly three years of constant use) and we thought "Uh oh" what happened? Here comes the hard part!" But it turned out to be so easy to replace them just remove the front cover (below the logs) and reach in (carefully someone with small hands!) and replace the bulbs! Easy peasy! They take normal candlebra type bulbs. If you're thinking of getting one of these I can honestly tell you they are as close to the appearance of a real fire as you can get!

Best Deals for Dimplex DFI2310 Electric Fireplace Deluxe 23-Inch Insert, Black

For many years in the winter months, especially at Christmas time, I have made a real fire in our fireplace to get that cozy "focal point of the room" feel. Which is great, except for the work involved buying the firewood, trying to get the kindling to light, adding more wood when necessary, and of course the long and dirty cleanup the next day. What if I could click a button on a remote to obtain the same result, and then click a button to turn it off, with no cleaning ever required? Well now I can.

This insert is a perfect fit for my fireplace and is bright enough and visible even behind the glass and metal gauze doors. While the "flames" are not 100% realistic, they are extremely effective in getting the effect I was looking for. And it is a sheer joy to be able to turn the unit on and off with the small, simple remote as needed.

This insert also has the ability to generate heat, but I have never used it for this purpose. Note that the "heat" option cannot be activated via the remote control; it needs to be turned on through a switch on the unit itself. That is obviously not a problem for me as we have central heating to keep the house warm, and I use the fireplace strictly for ambiance. I actually prefer that the heat is more difficult to turn on as I would not want my children to do this accidentally.

Note that to avoid a trailing power cord you will need to do what I did and have an electrician wire an outlet into your fireplace.

Perfect cozy winter ambiance that I can turn on and off at the flick of a switch, and nothing to clean up, ever. What's not to love?

Honest reviews on Dimplex DFI2310 Electric Fireplace Deluxe 23-Inch Insert, Black

Our fireplace insert arrived quickly w/o any damage. Thank you Amazon. We had no problem installing the insert & getting it running. We were surprised, however, to discover that the "remote" does nothing more than switch it on & off. The description needs to inform potential customers that switching on the heat, or changing the heat level, requires reaching inside the fireplace to work the manual switches located inconveniently at the upper right corner. We were also surprised that there is no thermostat to maintain a desired room temperature! It's my fault for not reading the description more closely, but I really expected a thermostat because that is a feature found on even cheap electric heaters. Dimplex dropped the ball here. In spite of those two disappointments, this unit is worth four stars for quality construction, easy installation, quiet operation, and realistic appearance of the log set & flames.

I spent quite a bit of time researching different models on different sites. This is the best product for the price and Amazon has it for less than other online stores. I rely on the customer reviews for information regarding the quality and usefulness of products. The reviews were accurate, considering each reviewer has a different room size and climate, etc. I live in New England and haven't been a fan of burning wood since we moved into an old home in a remote location. Our home has an antique Franklin stove and a fireplace but I worry about fires and prefer not to take chances. After admiring a friend's wood stove look electric heater, I decided it would be wonderful to have an electric insert for our fireplace, which has been nothing but a large and very dark space in what should be a focal point. It took less than 10 minutes for my husband to open the box, remove the unit from the box, place it in the fireplace and plug it in. The remote needed to be synchronized with the unit but it's simple, takes about 10 seconds and the directions are in the manual. Our room is closer to 500 square feet and we keep the oil furnace thermostat in that zone at 60. We turned the unit on at high heat, found the fire look to be just fine and the temperature in the room was 70 degrees by the end of our movie viewing. We are very pleased with the product and would recommend it to anyone who has to think about budget. There are units out there for $500 and up to $1000 but I can't imagine that they would heat my room any better.

12/2011 We've had the unit for a year now and it continues to work beautifully. The one thing we need to do is have the electrician come and establish a dedicated plug/circuit breaker just for the Dimplex unit. If we have on all the lights in the room, as well as the CD player and the Dimplex, the circuit breaker trips and we're sitting in the dark. We recently ordered a Duraflame electric log set for our Franklin stove and it should arrive today or tomorrow. I can't wait to plug it in. If Dimplex made the size we needed, I would have happily ordered a Dimplex.

I am very pleased with this heater. It has one or two quirks that I didn't expect (hence the 4.5 stars), but it puts out a terrific amount of heat, looks great and was a real bargain Amazon is the best.

What I didn't expect:

* It's much larger than I expected. My impression based on the pictures I could find was that it was much smaller, but be prepared for a sizeable heater;

* Contrary to the description, it doesn't have a digital temperature readout. I was a little annoyed at first, but then most temperature gauges don't work well anyway, and I heat the room to feel comfortable and not to a specific temperature, so this doesn't matter much to me now;

* The thermostat works differently than I expected. The unit puts out a constant amount of heat, regardless of the setting, but the higher thermostat settings make the unit run until the room is hotter before it shuts off, which works fine;

* I run my heater on a 40 lb. propane bottle. If you plan to run on a bottle, be prepared to buy a pressure regulator, hose and some fittings. Oddly, I couldn't find the right combination from Mr. Heater, but did buy the Red Dragon kit on Amazon, which works well. The only other fitting I needed was an adapter from 3/8" NPT to 3/8" flare, which was only $3 at the local hardware store;

* I read reviews elsewhere that the internal fan is quiet. I like the fact that it has the fan, but find it a bit noisy to my taste. Since I have a vaulted ceiling and ceiling fans, I will rarely use the internal fan. It seems to work fine without it and runs almost silently, which is very nice.

Overall, a real deal in my opinion that suits my needs almost perfectly.

August 2011 Update: A few more observations after using the heater for a while:

* we can smell the byproducts of combustion in the room when we use this heater. This is not surprising since the combustion gases are vented into the room. As a result, we use it sparingly (usually just to warm the room) since the smell can be unpleasant, and undoubtedly isn't good for your health if used extensively;

* burning propane relases a fair bit of water vapour into the room, so we get condensation on the windows. Again, this is not a surprise;

* this heater is certified by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), which is one of the reasons I bought it. However, the CSA approval is only for use in the USA; these types of unvented heaters are not approved for use in Canada;

* I did some reading online about unvented heaters (sadly after I bought this unit). Anyone interested in buying unvented heaters would do well to read up about the pros and cons before buying.

Ordered the heater back in May of 2012. A licensed plumber (certified in propane) installed the 16 feet of propane line. My jaw dropped when I got his bill: $400.05 -did he really need to include that nickel? The heater cost me $179.95 and I see that it is now going for $239.95. You might want to purchase it off season.

I hooked up the heater to a 15 gallon propane tank and connected the line to the tank using a Mr. Heater 5-Feet Propane Hose/Regulator Assembly. It says right on the regulator, "LOW PRESSURE." ***BE SURE YOUR REGULATOR CAN DELIVER LOW PRESSURE (i.e., it may be a hose rated for high pressure that you can turn down, but you need to run low pressure into the heater or it can damage it. I didn't want to take that chance of any faulty guesswork, so I purchased the hose that had the words "LOW PRESSURE" stamped right on the regulator).

11/07/2012 -EDIT: I wish I had seen this before I bought the other hose hookup. I would have purchased it: Red Dragon SL-1C Low Pressure Propane Hook Up Kit With 10-Foot Hose. Just copy and paste it into the search bar and see what you think.

The instructions tell you to put the control knob on "Pilot" and then press it down (push on it straight down, toward the floor) and hold it for 30 seconds if this is the first time you're using it. Boy, were they ever wrong. First of all, it depends on how long your line is from the tank. My 16 foot run took about 3 minutes to get gas to the pilot light! So, be patient and don't do what I did -wasted some of my AA battery by clicking the igniter constantly for about 30 seconds before I realized what was happening. Just keep holding that big knob down in the Pilot position and then try the igniter every 15 seconds or so until it flames. Once that flame starts, they say to continue depressing the knob for another 30 seconds. Well, that's a bunch of bull crap. You can take your hand off after 6 seconds. Count 'em. The flame will not blow out the pilot once 6 seconds have ticked by.

Our house is 1,727 sq ft. We keep all three bedroom doors, the guest bathroom door and the laundry room door, closed. I'm guessing we're heating around 1,100 sq ft with the heater.

Here are some statistics you might find interesting...

A gallon of propane weighs approximately 4.2 lbs.

A gallon of propane has a burn rate of approximately 100,000 BTUs (British Thermal Units) per hour. This means that if you run your heater continuously (30,000 BTUs) you will be consuming propane at a rate of about 1/3 gallon per hour. At 33,000 BTUs, your heater would be right at the1 gallon per hour approximation. I am guessing that my 15 gallon propane tank could therefore run for about 50 hours (because I'm only burning 30K and not 33K). The shorter the time you have your heater on, the longer you'll go between refills of your propane tank. (What's HUD spelled backwards?)

Since I don't want to do the math to calculate how long I can go (in theory) between refills by running my heater for 6 minutes on after each 50 minutes off (see my experiment below), 14 times per day, I went ahead and wrote the date of the last fill on the tank itself. When it becomes empty, I will have my answer and I'll let you know. I started with an empty tank and it took on 14.4 gallons of propane when I filled it at the local station. By the way -I paid $2.99 per gallon! It is much cheaper at other locations, but I was too excited to wait.

Here are some results from a runtime experiment I've conducted:

Cycle #1:

Outdoor temperature: 55.6 F

Indoor temperature: 68.4 F

Time heater not burning: 56 min 46 sec

Time heater burning: 5 minutes 50 seconds

Cycle #2:

Outdoor temperature: 56.8 F

Indoor temperature: 68.5 F

Time heater not burning: 44 min 3 sec

Time heater burning: 5 min 54 sec

Cycle #3:

Outdoor temperature: 56.8 F

Indoor temperature: 68.5 F

Time heater not burning: 51 min 39 sec

Time heater burning: 5 min 32 sec

On the large heat control knob, there are small raised dots. There is a dot right at the "1" and then four more dots is where the "2" is. To achieve these runtime intervals (i.e., on/off times), I have set the dial to one dot past the "1" and this is where we achieve our 68 degrees (with temps in the 50s outdoors).

Something you should also know, and I had to find this out from experience. I thought that the low setting would set the flame lower and on the high setting, the flames would be larger. Not so. The dial is merely a thermostat. The flames are pretty much full whether the heater is on LOW or on HIGH. I did notice a little more flame at the very top end of the dial, but it's not much. To control the temperature in the house, therefore, all you need to do is select a spot on the dial and leave it there.

We keep our house at 68 degrees and dress warmer if we get a little chilly. But I am here to tell you, you'll burn a lot more propane if you keep your house just 2 degrees warmer and to us, it's just not worth it. We "wear" our 2 degrees and it doesn't cost us a penny more.

Here's something else -the pilot runs while the flame is off. BUT -when you are not going to be running the heater, just turn the whole thing off, including the fan.

The fan is rather wimpy, but adequate. I think it moves more air than we might think, but if you want more "wind," you might want to augment it with a small electric fan.

CARBON MONOXIDE CAN KILL YOU! -Having researched many opinions about vent free heaters running inside a home, I decided to go out and purchase a CO (carbon monoxide) detector with alarm. I have a model that includes a digital display of actual levels of Carbon Monoxide and it displays the reading in parts per million. The very first sign of CO poisoning is a frontal headache. Go read all you care to about CO poisoning and what symptoms are brought about by what levels of toxicity (you never want it above 70ppm and you definitely need to leave the house if it ever gets up to 100ppm, but my device detects zero Carbon Monoxide. I have placed the device atop a set of shelves about 30 inches, nearly directly above, the heater. That said, we still have plenty of ventilation in our manufactured home (bathroom fans pull air into the enclosure through vents in our window design) and the heater does come with a low oxygen shut-down safety feature. Which I don't trust. Which is why I bought the CO detector/alarm unit.

Obviously, it is still a warm Autumn with mild outdoor temperatures. But that's all gonna change soon. We bought this heater in preparation for the power outages we'll face when the big Pacific Northwest storms start pounding us.

I am giving the Mr Heater Model #VF30KBLUELP 30,000 BTU Vent Free Propane Heater 5 stars. Wimpy fan or not, this is a kick-butt alternative to any dependence on electric furnaces when the power goes out. And I think it can also hold its own as a primary heat source in any area with adequate ventilation (along with a CO detection device, just to be on the safe side).

Hope this review helped.

Best Deals for Mr. Heater 30,000 BTU Propane Blue Flame Vent-Free Heater

I have used several different types of this kind of stove in different locations. Currently have an all electric house with a pellet stove. Found a really nice like new 50 gallon upright propane tank at a yard sale that I'm using right now.

This is not a good do it yourself project for a home owner. These things require a real installation from someone trained and qualified. Once I got the tank, it needed a regulator, a POL, two pieces of flex (one outdoor, one indoor) a ball shut off valve, some schedule 80 black iron pipe to go through the wall with a lot of other pipe parts and a sediment trap.

THEN once everything is set up, it REQUIRES a real leak test and a gas check before it's put into service.

Once all that was installed correctly and completely tested out? It worked great. Probably took over half an hour to get gas to the pilot light though. Which is normal, air gets in there and it has to be purged out while the thing is attempting to get lit up.

Settings on the control go from 1 5. Have not had it beyond the '1' mark yet. 3 bedroom, two bath house getting into the 20's at night, mid 30's during the day I used 10 gallons of propane the first week.

Can't hear it come on and off as it cycles through it's thermostat. Fan has an automatic setting so it doesn't have to run all the time, either.

Big plus with this one for me was that it comes with the legs and fan. Isn't as much fun to watch as my old vent free fireplace but it sure does get the job done for heating this house and is probably less than half what the stupid pellet stove was costing me. With NO hassle. And the propane company will come out and fill the tank the day after I call if it starts getting low.

Couple of the wood stove die hard neighbors are coming around to check this out. Can imagine it won't be too long before they have one of these, too!

It probably took a little over 2 1/2 hours to install.

The shipping on this was a real treat, too. Came right away in perfect shape. Sure don't have any complaints on this one!

Honest reviews on Mr. Heater 30,000 BTU Propane Blue Flame Vent-Free Heater

This heater works as well as I had hoped it would and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. The "auto" function for the blower fan, for example, causes a delay in the fan operation until enough heat is built up from the flame before it comes on. When the target temperature is reached, the flame goes off and the fan continues to run until it is no longer blowing warm air, then it stops blowing. In other words, this little portable heater work exactly like the furnace in your house is designed to work. It exceeds my expectations.

Ok, I took a little time before reviewing this heater because I wanted to use it for a few days. Here is what I found. Some have said it is large. Yes, its a bit large but it puts out 30,000 BTU's and heats my cabin of 1,000 sq ft. It's not a portable like Mr Heaters Big Buddy's which I also have. There are no handles on it to carry it around. For me at least it is a permanent heater. You can hang it on the wall or attach the legs for floor use.

Setting it up was not difficult but be aware you will need some pipes and connections as it only comes with one elbow for floor use. Some parts I got from Amazon and had my local hose guy put it all together. I did the rest.

Now comes the use of it. At first I had a few problems with the thermostat. It would come on and stay on which made my cabin way too hot. After texting with Bill Sisley at Mr Heater, a great tech by the way, He helped figure out my problem. Notice I said my problem not the heaters. The problem was a draft.

Now the thermostat works perfectly and so does the blower fan. The heater works like a furnace in a large house

All in all it's a great heater and I would recommend it. Just know, you will need to purchase some parts.

One last thing, The heater including the fan is very quiet.

I needed a carrier and I also needed a small stand that would hold the wood on my deck next to the fireplace prior to burning (a staging area from the yard storage to the fireplace). One dimension that is not given is the actual canvas carrier. It is approx. 16" X 38" which is pretty good size. While I would like it a little wider (my logs are 20 to 24 "), it gets the job done and at this price who can complain. I am glad I made the purchase. It comes in a small box and assembly takes a couple minutes with the longest time spent getting the Phillips screwdriver that is used on the four screws that hold the four sections of black pipe together. The picture shown is true to form and the logs used appear to be 24" logs. Most people would not want to carry a load larger than shown.

This one has the advantage that you take the straps up and off the holder, go get wood, then "reinstall" it into the holder. The holder itself is tubular and strong enough; the canvas of the holder is great. There is a vaguely annoying black-and-white "Landmann" logo on the bottom of the front tube, but this is no big deal.

It's very cheap compared to the rest of the cast iron wood holders, and very space-efficient. The only thing to think about is whether you would be happier with a "tub" design. I say this because when I bring wood in from the outside, it might have a little snow on it which will melt and drip off, and it will also have some little bits of stuff that will drop down. I dealt with this by putting a cheap black rubber "boot tray" underneath.

Notice that you could also pile up newspapers and so forth in this thing if desired.

While there were no dimensioins on the site, i took a chance. note that the pictures now include the dimansions. It's a good size. Holds enough and is easy to carry. Not what i was expecting, but seems ok. Basic black tubular frame.

Not much to say about this other than it's as advertised! It's tough and durable. I use it to haul wood from outside to the fireplace, and it's held up great with all the times i fill it up to the top. Highly recommend it.

We purchased this set for the Lopi Revere woodstove in a house we recently bought. It is the perfect size for this stove. The tools are heavy and high quality. The broom is obviously for show but that's ok. We're happy with it.

I was tired of firesets that constantly had to be screwd back together. The uniflame fireset solved my problem. It is sturdy built and perfect for my small wood heater.
