This chimney cap functions perfectly, fit well, and looks good too. It is kind of expensive but I expect many more years of service from it and the convenience of being able to shut off the chimney from the fireplace is awesome. I've used it one winter already and I'm well satisfied with this purchase. It saves money year round by stopping air flow thru the chimney and in the winter it saves wood by slowing the fire.

First, I thought I was getting the "Lock-Top" brand. This "Lock-Tight" is not the same. It arrived, our chimney sweep installed it, and then we all realized it was not useable. The spring was SO TIGHT that I had to use both hands, with leather gloves, to be able to pull the top down to the closed position. Each time I tried to do this I feared breaking the unit or scraping my hands and arms against the fire brick. My wife could not do it at all.We returned the item but never got confirmation or a refund from the company. My fault for losing the post office shipping receipt so I had to eat the cost.

Overall it is a nice trap. The problem I had was the weight of the groundhog caused the metal to bend which caused a gap between door and rest of trap. The ground hog was able to squeeze out and in the process bend the cage more.
