Review of Real Flame Mt. Vernon Corner 6950-X-DW Electric Fireplace in Dark
Aside from both boxes arriving with no damage, there isn't much else good to say about this piece. DO NOT believe anything you read about this being easy to put together. It took me over 5 hours with a power driver (I can't imagine how long it would have taken with the regular allen wrench they give you). The piece at the bottom didn't properly line up either and there's a gap that's very noticeable. Also, the screws were rusted into the screen rod and were impossible to get out without a vice and pliars and having to strip them. There were also no holes drilled for the firebox to install in the back of the unit (not that this was a big deal, but for those who don't have a power drill it would be since it mentions nowhere in the directions that you need one). Overall after it was together, it looks ok with the exception of the white bottom piece not lining up and leaving a gap. For $450, I would expect ALOT more quality craftmanship than what I got. I probably would have shipped the whole thing back for a refund, but tearing it apart again and re-packaging it just wouldn't be worth it. It's not horrible, but far from worth the amount I paid for it. If I could do it over, I'd look for other corner units. This fireplace is really nice looking. A great piece of furniture for my living room. The room is large and it helps keep it warm as I have quite a few windows. Really pretty. I love it. A couple of my friends are going to order this very same fireplace.

1-star rating due to poor quality control resulting in 2 of the 3 thermometers purchased not working, rather reading backwards. Apparently the manufacturer (RUTLAND) does not inspect adequately. Had inspection been done they would have noticed the spring coil was installed backwards in 2 units. After correct installation (not everyone would do this themselves) the product worked fine.
The previous reviewer was able to reverse the coil and as I am fairly handy I am about to attempt the same to avoid the hassle of return (my printer is broken and I would have to print a return lable). My new wood stove is ready to install and I need to do the break-in burn to cure the paint during which the stove is to only be fired to 250-300 degrees. If I don't have a somewhat accurate temp reading the paint could be degraded.
Compared with other stove pipe thermometer its off. When stuck in the oven with three oven thermometers its off by 100%.
Quality control is not there.

After reading the only other review I should have avoided this thermometer. As stated in the previious review the thermal coil is installed backwards resulting in the needle rotating in reverse (negative) direction. This makes the device unusable. The previous reviewer was able to reverse the coil and as I am fairly handy I am about to attempt the same to avoid the hassle of return (my printer is broken and I would have to print a return lable). Honest reviews on MEECO'S RED DEVIL 425 Magnetic Thermometer
I bought this to replace a thermometer that laid flat on the stove top. This one stands up so I can easily see it from across the room. That works fine. It seems to read about 100 degrees less than my previous one, but I suppose that is because it does not have as good contact with the stove top as the other. Anyway, I can take that into account when I read it. It does what I expected it to do.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for MEECO'S RED DEVIL 425 Magnetic Thermometer
I purchased this thermometer about a week ago and it already doesn't read the temp. Its been sitting between 0 and 200 for the last 3 burns in my stove. And I know it was hotter than 200 as I couldn't touch stove. At 200F you should be able to touch for 5 seconds before wanting to pull hand away. I've never got my stove overly hot so I don't know why this thing doesn't work. This was cheap and you get what ya pay for.Friday, September 12, 2014

The fan does move the air, but not near as much as the original blower. This unit is smaller and lighter then the old unit. It is so light that they send "sticky tabs" for the bottom of the unit so that it does not vibrate out of placement under the fireplace gas logs. Air movement is probably about 1/3 the movement as the old unit. Plus the cord to plug in the new unit needs to be about 12-18 inches longer. This unit cost about half of what a new more powerful unit runs. And the saying is true you get what you pay for. In the future I will go back to the original type fan and pay the additional amount.

Received this item today Friday January 18, 2013. The item I purchased proclaimed to be wood. Upon opening the package everything is compressed engineered wood with a birch veneer covering. It is far from being Hardwood as stated above. I ;am thoroughly dissatisfied with this cabinet. Why advertise Hardwood when it is a cheap engineered compressed wood, similar to flake board? I would like to send this item back to Amazon. I can't imagine how I could repack it and I certainly would not pay for shipping after being duped about this purchase. When my husband and I unboxed this unit it had 2 long (over 6" each) scrapes (took off the wood) along the 3rd edge from the top, dead center. Since it was packed so well, we think it happened in the factory and they didn't want to admit it and get in trouble, so they shipped it. We discussed returning this 100lb item for an undamaged one, but I decided we should be able to fix with wood putty touchup. I hope I am right. It took about 2 hours for mostly him to put together. They provided wood glue for the dowels, but it was hard as a rock. Directions could have been better, but they were OK. I like the size, height and hidden electronics shelf (black screen). Not sure what shipping would have cost, but with Amazon Prime it was free shipping, and delivered on the day promised.

They're just rocks--nothing fancy. But they adequately serve the purpose of decorating the ground of a fireplace. Their rough edges do collect dust over time and they'll need to be periodically washed or replaced.
Definately will use again, this is padding to meet the minimum word requirement.

Black Iron Fireplace Tool Hooks Reviews
Nice compact solution to my fireplace fireiron storage. Well made from real steel. I've run out of words so thereThis hook looked just as it does in the picture. The description describes it has a hand forged item but after recieving it and taking a closer look I have come to the conclusion that the hand forged means someone placed the metal into a machine. The hooks and back strap are just too symetrical to really be something done completely by hand. The rippled pattern on the ends of the strap are clearly a stamped pattern not tool marks from a hammer like I was expecting. Once installed it does look great and does exactly what I wanted. I don't regret the purchase. However if what you really want is something that was beat into shape by a blacksmith this not the hook set you want.

This Lifesmart heater is a good buy for me and I own just about every different type of space heater available. To start, don't expect it to heat 1200 sq ft, and don't expect the wood finish to be outstanding. The wood finish is not bad, but if viewed in direct sunlight you can see all the imperfections in the wood, though acceptable but not for a picky person. You can always refinish the wood, or darken the stain, so it does not bother me. The buttons make a beep sound when pushed, this could wake up the baby. The thermostat when cycling off and on make a faint clicking sound, this could also potentially wake up the baby.
Now for the good stuff. It is a super solid unit with nice smooth casters for rolling, weighs in over 40 pounds. The electronics are really nice, the thermostat has a 2 degree F. range. If you set it at 67, the temperature will go from 65-67, shutoff at 67 and then turn back on at 65. When it shuts off, the fan continues to push residual heat, the fan does not shut off.
I have a killowatt tester. On low it uses 940 watts, on high it uses 1360 watts, the fan alone uses 32 watts. Don't let the low scare you because the on off cycles can turn it to 500 watts or less.
It seems to push a lot of heat. I was expecting to feel the warmth of the infrared like a typical infrared heater. For some reason I could not feel the infrared, maybe most of it gets soaked up with the copper, but some must also come out. Maybe just not enough to be plainly noticeable.
I was originally thinking this would save me by taking over some work from the furnace. Instead it is saving me in a different manner. It is not powerful enough to heat my main area. I have a 4000 sq ft home. I found it works much better in our bedroom. We were using a space heater on high 1500 watts all night to supplement the furnace. I can keep this Lifesmart on low and set the digital thermostat and it cycles on and off and it does the job using under 500 watts. My calculations are at about a $50 savings per month using it in this manner. Just because it worked out for me, it does not mean it will work out for you. I was originally disappointed that it did not help the furnace with my main living area and was disappointed I did not feel the infrared. I was thinking it was a bad buy and no real use for it. Then I started trying to figure where it might work better, and am satisfied now.
One test I did, I took my next best heaters, a new model Lasko Cyclonic Ceramic Heater 5840 and a Lasko 5812. On a cold night near 0 night, I set it to 3 degrees above the rest of the house, and the most they could do after hours on high is 2 degrees above. I then took the Lifesmart and set it at 4 degrees above, and to top that off I set it on low. In 10 minutes it hit a degree warmer than the other 2 heaters could do in hours of work. So it is doing something, that's for sure. It is just not readily apparent as I would like it to be. I wanted to feel sunshine type heat. I didn't get the infrared feel. I am still very happy with the buy. I figure it should be free in 4 months of operation with the savings. I will recommend this to anyone who is not too picky on the wood finish. This ended up being my best space heater.

This heater works as advertised. I have had it more than a month so the electric bill came in and met my expectations. I turned down my 3500 sq.ft. home central heat from 71F to 69F. No use heating the entire house with all the kids gone. I use this heater for my bedroom during the night and set it for 73F. It brings the room to approximately 71F and turns off. Then it comes on for a minute for two every 15 minutes to maintain the temperature. I went to Harbor Freight and purchased a Digital Electrical Usage Tester to see how much power this heater is actually using. Turns out it uses 1350 Watts, 114 volts, and 11.8 Amps. If it stayed on all night this would be a energy hog, but since it only comes on approximately 4 times per hour, for a minute each time, the energy use is much less than my central air. Therefore my energy use went down for this past month since turning down my central heat and using this heater to heat my bedroom. Overall it met my expectations. Only one thing I had not anticipated is the smell of new wood and glue the first two weeks as the heater broke in.Best Deals for LIFESMART Amish Inspired Power Plus 1200 Square Foot 6 Element
I bought this heater, exact one for 170 shipped off a seller on ebay. This product works so well in my apartment (1000 sf) that we use it as our only source of heat. The built in heater that came with the unit was costing me 70 dollars in gas bills and up a month to heat the apartment in the winter. I was fed up with paying so much for the bill that I decided to take the plunge and buy this... I keep the unit on Low all day and all night. The unit peridocly shuts on and off (approx 1-2 min every 40-60 minutes) to cycle the heat around the house when the temperature dips below the degree listed on the face of the heater. Right now it is 40 degrees outside and my house is a comfy 72 (listed on the home thermostat, when the lifesmart heater is listed at 72). My new bill for electricity cost me compared to the previous month (no heater) only 10 dollars more, likewise my gas bill went down 70 dollars as compared to the previous month with the apartment heater on. Overall a really great product.Honest reviews on LIFESMART Amish Inspired Power Plus 1200 Square Foot 6 Element

This Lifesmart heater caught on fire in the middle of the night. There were actual flames coming out of it. It was sitting alone with nothing around it within 3 feet. We drug it outside and put the flames out with a hose. It thankfully did not hurt anyone since the smoke alarm alerted us to the situation. It did cause smoke smell damage that is still present. The manufacturer was contacted and they wanted to replace it with a lessor type heater ($99.99) and offered $50.00 for the damage. They stated that in 99% of the time that this happens (does it happen frequently?) it is the outlet that is the problem. This particular outlet is functioning fine and there is no damage to it. The fire started inside of the unit, not at the outlet. The house has to be repainted and the furniture cleaned which will cost much more than $50.00. This has been an unacceptable suggested resolution from this company. I would not recommend this heater simply because of the manufacturer's statement that "when this happens" which tells me that we are not the first customer to experience this. If it was a first time occurrence and they were responsive that would be one thing. This sounded like it was just another incident.
