I bought this UFO heater last winter for my infant son's room. The remote control was a nice touch (you can operate the heater from the door of the room without having to enter and wake your sleeping child). I am very satisfied with the amount of heat that this unit produces. It warms his 14x12 room comfortably in minutes rather than hours with a pelonis heater that I had previously used. On cold nights, I set the heat setting to 3, then adjust it down after my son falls to sleep. This heater on high(5) can easily raise the temperature in the room by 10 degrees or more in what feels like a heartbeat. Considering the UFO's powerful heat, I was unsure how much energy it was using. So I purchased a Kill-A-Watt tester here on Amazon last month. Upon testing my usage and duration with the Kill-A-Watt, I calculated that this UFO heater had used about $6.75 worth of electricity in during the 8 day trial. Wow! Impressive, under $25 per month in the winter months to keep my son's room comfortable! UFO heaters have one happy customer. I have already purchased one for my brother as a gift and bought a second one to be installed in the kid's playroom in my basement. Thanks again, UFO!

This heater works well. I was leary of the "orange glow" but this is not a problem. It is compact, makes no noise, heats up quickly (as in 10 seconds). It seems well made and I am glad I got the remote control version. Mounting was no problem. I looked at infrared heaters extensively, and this one is a better price, uses a standard plug (not hard wired), and is better looking. Be aware that if you are not in the direct path of the light, you don't feel the heat. Mounted at 7' high, it casts out about 7 feet, but the first 2 feet directly under the unit you feel NO HEAT. If I had another circuit, I would put two heaters up for better coverage.

The number one concern for most consumers is the savings; if you like to find out how much it will cost you to run this heater, find out from your local power provider the cost of
1 kilowatt/hour then multiply it by 1.5 The result will give you the total cost of running this heater for one hour at its maximum level. You should keep in mind, you will probably not use the heater at its maximum level at all times. Compared to other infrared heaters, the unit provides much more heat, in a way that can be converted into more savings. You will more likely reduce the heat level, consuming less power.
During cold temperature, it is almost impossible to heat our sunroom, it takes hours to heat the space. I love to read and enjoy our sunroom. I placed one of the heaters in our sunroom. Once I seat down, I turn the heater at its maximum for about 10-15 minutes, once it gets warm enough I reduce it to level 3(1,200Watt) then level 2(1,050Watt). At level 2, it is still supplying 1,050Watt.

This is a solid and well built heater that will probably last a long time. On/off control is via semiconductor so it should be more reliable than mechanical switches. The large chassis stays cool enough that I don't worry about heat damage to objects behind it. The major downside is that heat is emitted as a wide horizontal beam. The heater may not be turned on its side or aimed directly down. It's comfy if you're lying on a couch and it's passable for sitting, but it's not a good match standing. Standing in a cold garage, it cooks your head and shoulders closer than 1m but is not very warm past 1.5 meters. With a power output of only 1400W (measured), a more focused beam is required.

I purchased an amish infrared heater two years ago. They were advertised great however it took too long to heat a room. Last year two of the bulbs died and it was a hassle to get them replaced.
Last year we didn't have much of a winter then, so I decided not to buy a new heater. After some good research this year, I purchased the remote control UFO, so far very happy with it. The immediate heat is pretty impressive, wherever you point the heater you can feel it. Once my husband got a grip of it, he bought another one for his garage. He mounted it on top of his workshop area. The heater is light to move around, I can even lift it with one arm. It is cheap to run(this was an important feature for our household).
The timer works great, I want to buy one more to put it in our bathroom wall, facing the faucets. Early morning the bathrooms are freezing cold, with the timer set 6:00am(when I wake up) the bathroom would be toasty for me :)
