Works great I am very happy with it.

The color is what is shown in the picture. However, it only looks like that when under direct light (such as held up to light or light shining down directly on it). If you are putting a layer of this in a conventional gas fireplace as I did, it will look quite a bit darker in the shadow.

It looks fantastic and is highly reflective despite the "darker" color. Even without the fire turned on the shine from my fireplace is eye-catching. It looks even better with the fire turned on. It is so shiny and reflective with flames on it looks almost like the glass itself is burning.

I ripped out the dirty old "gas log" holding grate, put a $4.00 layer of lava rock from Home Depot down then poured this over the top. The result looks great and my wife thinks I am a home decor wiz now. I gotta say, for the price of the glass + 4 bucks of lava rock our fireplace looks pretty stellar.

The rocks are very pretty, liked the large size and color, but after using our fire pit they have become discolored. I was hoping that the rocks would maintain their pretty copper look. Now the ones around the flames are black. Also, I bought 2 4 pound bags which is not enough for our fire pit. I'll need to purchase more for the look I want.

Just got this fire pit and it looks great but I haven't actually used it yet. Assuming it works as advertised, I give it 5 stars however I wanted to warn folks about the propane hose that gets advertised by Amazon as "frequently purchased with this item". It doesn't fit! You need to get the hose with 3/8" Male pipe thread x 3/8" Female pipe thread. It would be nice if the amazon description included this detail. Not only was it missing from the description but they actually promote the wrong one.

This pit is just what I wanted. I never saw it advertised with logs, so the lava rocks are just fine. This pit is low to the ground so it lets the heat warm you more. Read the instructions well on how to slowly open the gas for the maxium amount of flame. I love that this is one of the highest BTU's (60,000) for a great price. Also very portable if I want to move from back to the front of the house or travel with it. I would definetly recommend to purchase. I have many friends waiting to see how it worked out for me before they purchase. great! And no worry about smoke, firewood and ashes! I also researched many others and it's great for the price.

I felt compelled to provide a review on the Del Rio since a few things might be unclear to prospective buyers. I wasn't sure if it would ship with the copper or hammered penny finish and was very happy when mine arrived with the copper. Excellent! I was hoping for that.

My box appeared to have been a repack / return, but all of the parts were there. One edge of the bowl was bent down a little where the retainer clip sits (due to shipping, etc.), but no biggie... it's a fire pit, not a coffee table!

It was not overly clear in the Amazon "Items Included" list, but my unit DID include a 6FT hose with a regulator on one end, which screwed perfectly onto a 20lb propane tank. I also ordered the 15FT 3/8"M + 3/8"F extension, just in case, though the stock hose was just the right length for my use. The manual is substantive and very well written/proofed.

IMPORTANT: Do not skip the recommended soapy water test. I did the test and, indeed, there was a (very) small amount of propane leakage where the regulator connects to the coupler/hose. Rather than send that part back for exchange, or buy a new hose, I already had some natural gas thread seal tape on hand. I used a 3/4" socket to unscrew the regulator from the threaded coupler and wrapped the threads with the seal tape. Once it was securely tightened back together, there were no leaks and it was good to go.

I was also very happy with the amount of lava rocks included, which came in 4 big bags, each about the size of a loaf of bread. I was a little curious about the quantity, given a couple of the reviews, but it seems like the perfect amount to me, and does create a little mountain that carries slightly above the bowl, which is how it should be. I can't really imagine needing any more as the bowl would then be almost overflowing?

Operation: As recommended, I "slowly" opened the propane tank valve and turned the Del Rio on... it fired up perfectly the first time. After doing the 10 minute "HIGH setting" rock burn-in that Camp Chef recommends, I played around a little bit with different settings. The flame volume was better than expected, and it puts out a lot of heat! The flames were a decent size, varying from about 4-8" above the rocks on the HIGH setting. Even just randomly placing the rocks in the bowl gives great flame distribution, but I also used a long pair of tongs to reposition the rocks while the flames were on, for optimum heat and aesthetic layout.

Yes, there is a minor propane hiss on MED and HIGH, but no more than a standard propane stove would create and very acceptable. My only real complaint is that (on my unit, at least) does begin to whistle on the LOW setting, at the fire pit end--kind of annoying, but not a deal breaker for me since I can whistle louder than it can. The whistle goes away just around MED, but I would have liked the LOW setting for my patio, plus the lessened propane use.

I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 due to that whistle, the leaky regulator connection, and the bent bowl--perhaps that is why it appeared to be a repack/return? Camp Chef seems like a solid company and, based on the many other reviews, mine is probably enigmatic. I am sure they would remedy the situation if I asked, which I won't.

Overall, it rocks! A lot of design thought undoubtedly went into this fire pit. The physical size and fire level is perfect for a decent sized patio, campsite, etc., it looks awesome, and the lava rocks stay warm for a long time after turning it off, which is a plus for warming the bones on cold eves while stretching out propane usage.

I purchased this because my boyfriend was using the wet dry vac to clean out the ashes from the smoker...thats right, the wet dry vac. I am sure some are thinking, "Why not?" Because ash is very fine and filthy and the wet dry vac is not dedicated to this singular purpose. As such, another solution needed to be put into place. While this is not as quick or efficient, the curved scoop works perfectly along the bottom of the smoker and my wet dry vac has half a chance for survival. Great product. Excellent construction.

Bought this item thinking it would work on gel fuel cans, well was I wrong thanks to the misleading ad. Sellers ad does not say that it, ONLY TAKES GEL CARTRIDGES and nothing else will work. So beware gel cans will not fit in the hole, the space is big enough for gel cartridges only.

But the other problem is noone online carries Gel Cartridges you will have a hard time finding them, which makes these logs useless.

Also this seller (OCProducts) will not give full refund, he wants 20% restocking fee wants shipping cost going and coming. By the time you are done sending product back you are out 60% of cost which to me is worthless if you are trying to save a buck. And thats a rip off. I would rate this 0 stars but you can not so he gets 1 star not worth it.

Seller has no customer service number will not return emails. So you should think twice before buying from this seller OCProducts.

I do love this log and only wish it was easier to find the gel cartridges. I have been able to find them at smokelesslog.com but wish I could get them on Amazon. Other than that hassle, the cartridges seem to burn well and without the nasty alcohol odor that can happen with some of the cans. Heats up my living space 2 3 degrees and I love the "crackle".

This is just what I was looking for...a log to accommodate the cartridge gel. I dislike the can gels as they give off an awful odor. I found the cartridge type gel that is scented with Pine, Vanilla and Cinnamon. Unfortunately, you have to change the log to accommodate the cartridge. I used the cartridges when I lost electricity for 9 days during hurricane Sandy. It gave off enough heat to bring the temperature up from 58 degrees to 65 degrees. I have another free standing fireplace that uses gel so I'm converting this one of the cartridges also This log is a much better price than the original and it's exactly the same.

I am a fancy match nut, so I am always looking for new and unique box designs. I bought these to put out for Valentine's Day. The matches are very good quality. However, I was very disappointed that the seller put a big giant sticker on the box, which ruined that side of the box. I tried to peel it off, but it is not an easy-off sticker, like many sellers use. It started to tear the design, so I decided to just leave it on. I guess one side is still OK, but I won't buy from this seller again, due to the sticker placement. The matches are great, though, if you can buy them from someone who won't ruin them with a big ugly sticker.

Installation was easy and the product has a nice finish. Looks great in our living room. Eventhough it was bought just for the look and feel of a fire place, it does give off a fair amount of heat as well when you use 3 cans of gel. I Like the center panel that flips down which hides the audio/video equipment when not in use.

Make sure you also purchace the Gel fuel it does not come with the Fireplace. You may also want to get a Snuffer.

Over the years I have tried nearly every brand of disposable butane "candle" lighter on the market. On most,ignition is slow

and flame is paltry. While far from ideal, this red Coleman (now apparently discontinued) has been the best of a sorry lot. Maybe the new black version, which claims "jet-like" gas rush and wind resistance, will prove even better.

I do have many pictures of this guy in live action if anyone would like (in all reality, it looks just like the images shown...at least during the day...obviously darker at night!) I will admit, I had been looking at this thing for about a year, but couldn't justify spending the money that was asked. Amazon.com had it on sale for $202 about the last week of August, so I couldn't resist. Not only is this thing worth the $202...but it is easily worth the normal listed price. This fire pit is very cool, we have not used it, since we are re-doing our deck, but it is very nice. Something that is different. Although we did lose the cover in a blizzard, so its rusting, but I'm sure when we actually use it we will love it! Lets just hope we will not be in a "open flame prohibited" like we have been in the past. 4 Stars because the cover does not withstand the SD weather.

These brackets are a good idea for stacking fire wood. You need OVERSIZE 2x4's for a good fit and stability.

Oversize lumber is hard to get, Home Depot and other lumber outlets here do not have oversize lumber.

Consequently, I had to shim and put spacers in the gaps that result in using regular 2x4's. I also used lag bolts throughout and also bolted cross pieces on the uprights that hold the wood. This gives better stability and strength. Since my stack was over 7 feet long, I put a couple of 3 inck cement blocks under the runners to support the weight of the wood.

I am pleased with the final result, but disappointed that the project was so much work due in part to brackets that did not fit my lumber well.

I've built three racks with this product, and am in the process of building 5 more. With six Wolmanized (chemically treated to resist rot and insects) 2x4's (about $9), a few lag bolts ($6), a hand saw and an electric drill, you can create a rack that will take years of abuse and hold an amazing amount of firewood. Time to build a rack...less than 30 minutes!

I like these brackets but they are in principal just assembly helpers. I made a scaffold using them and for this purpose they worked well for me. By using the brackets I will be able to take apart the scaffold and re-assemble it easily. I used Kreg wood screws to assemble and added robust cross bracing and OSB decking so the stability issue was resolved. Without cross bracing the stability of the assembly was poor. Also the holding power of the Kreg screws and the easy disassembly they make possible are the key factor in making my project possible. If all you need is a static assembly to hold firewood then spend the money on treated 4 by 4's, 2X6's and bolts and forget the brackets.

They do what is advertised and make a sturdy rack. Because you cut the wood, you can customize the size exactly to your needs. That's great. The price is an added plus, since you can make a large log rack for about $25, including the lumber.

However, there are a couple of things that prevent a better rating:

1) The holes on each bracket line up with each other. That means that when you pound nails in from each side, the nails hit or come very close. That leads to splitting of the board.

2) The directions don't mention pre-drilling holes. Pre-drilling would probably help the first problem, although still would not solve it. The company should offset the holes a bit to correct this flaw.
