It was bigger than I expected... the rock base is a solid piece of rock and it is quite heavy.
It produces a nice big flame, but seems safe.
It crackles like a real fireplace and throws off some decent heat. You can't heat a room with it, but you can feel it if you're close enough.
If you like fire, but can't afford a real fireplace, this is a cool option.

This item looks and burns eactly like the pictures in the advertisement. While only intended to be decorative, it does put out a reasonable amount of heat, so my wife can be warm on her end of the couch and I can be comfortable on mine. It has a low odor and pleasant crackling sound as it burns. I have one minor complaint. It will burn only about 2/3 of its fuel before it will no longer function. This is a venting issue. But the fuel is easily scooped out and placed in another partially used can with a spoon, so this is certainly not a show stopper. All in all, a very nice room accent.Best Deals for Redrock personal FP
This little fireplace cheers up so many cold evenings at my house! We don't have a built-in fireplace at our house...but this one is great. It crackles, the flame is actually quite high, and it seems to be very sturdy (have used it for 3 years now). The glass does get sort-of black/sooty, but I think that's just what happens with fire. You can (mostly) wash it off). You do need to buy the gel fuel cans, which can be pretty expensive. I buy them here on Amazon...have never been able to find them in stores. They're about $2-$4/can, which lasts about 4 hours or so. Still, it's worth it...we don't have a "fire" every night, but once a week or so, we have one. We use this fireplace inside with no problems, though the flame is pretty high, so with little kids it might be an issue. We have 3 dogs and have only had 1 or 2 "close calls."Friends who come over always love this thing. Everyone wants to know where to buy it. I got mine a long time ago, so it's nice to know they're still selling it!
