EDITED-I write this edit sheepishly, but believe in telling the truth, and it may help another consumer. After the initial event that created the rant below I decided to try and fix the unit myself. When I unplugged the heater and placed it on the work bench I noticed a small vent like structure above the main intake screen on the back. I have been very good about cleaning the large removable screen but never noticed the smaller grate/screen right above it. It appears this may be where a temp/intake air sensor may reside. Bottom line is that my heaters sensor was completely covered with dust. I vacuumed it off with a vacuum brush attachment and tried plugging in, and turning on the unit one more time. Guess what? It seems to work perfectly now including reading the correct ambient air temperature. I'm a little red faced about this but felt I had to return here with the truth. I'm fairly convinced that the dust had sufficiently covered the sensor enough to cause erroneous readings that led to the unit shutting off. I have gone back and given this unit a "Like It" rating of four stars, not because I was wrong, but because it's functioning perfectly. There's the truth and nothing but.

ORIGINAL-Well, well, well, what do you know!? Another fine hunk of crap built in crap land! I purchased this product through Amazon in September of this year and it died this morning, Dec 19th 2012. This product was carefully taken out of the box, all instructions were followed, and it was placed in a living area of my home with no environmental strains placed on it in any way i.e. moisture, wind, or items placed on top of it. It worked just like it was supposed to until about three days ago. I noticed that the temperature setting would read a higher temperature than it actually was, when I first turned it on. Today when I entered the room where the unit is, the reading on the display said 79 and the unit wasn't running. I tried setting the adjustments per the instructions with no results. I tried unplugging and then plugging the unit back in several times with no results. Bottom line...this thing is F'ed! I haven't even thought about trying to call Duraflame. Like I have that kind of time? Like I should have to in the first place? I will try to fix it myself rather than contact the vendor(based on another persons review of their customer service). What a waste of money.

I bought this for my elderly father and it is perfect. Easy to use and very warm. He has used this as his only heat source for the past month and

he has been very satisfied. He lives in the mid atlantic region and the temperatures have ranged between 60 to 20 outside. His room tempurature with this on has remained at 77 degrees at night. During the day he turnd it down as he was too hot and he is accustom to keeping his heat at leat 78 in his house. He chills easily due to his age. I love the safety factor and he loves the warmth. He is heating around 1400 sq feet area with this heater alone.

Its funny when you are shopping heaters and reading all the reviews. It seams like every heater has a good and a bad story. I bought a heater like this at a local store. It was the display model and I did not get the remote. My heater heats around 800 sg ft no problem. I live in a country house that is about 1600 sq ft. The house has a propane furnace and the heating bill for my first year prior to buying this heater was around 2000 gallons of propane. Last year I only purchased 500 gallons and I still have 250 gallons that I didnt use. To make a long story short. I will be buying another one of the identical heaters today to heat my entire house.. Most likely my propane bill will only change slightly since most of my usage last year was for cooking. Any product is going to have flaws or defects so with that being said I would highly recommend purchasing this heater. Ohh and my electric bill only changed 50 more bucks during the peak season

I have a wood burning fireplace, but I live in California and we have "no burn" days when the air quality is poor. I don't need the heat of a real fire, and who wants to deal with all that mess any way??!!

I got this log and I love it. I have arthritis and getting down to take care of a fire is a real pain. Sometimes I don't even like the smoke of candles, so I got the battery operated tea lights, both in flickering, and a set of the color changing ones. (And extra batteries, all from Amazon.) Reminds me of those pressed logs you buy that change colors. I put two color changing lights, and four flickering ones in my log. Love it!!!!

Overpriced. The "glowing embers" is just red glitter. The "glow" is hardly visible in a dark fireplace. You would be better off getting a couple of half-burnt logs and gluing on red glitter. I wasted my money. Hope you don't.

My log actually had chips broken off the back when I received it. Given the price ($29) it wasn't worth my time returning via mail. It's not very elegant but for the price it's a reasonable decoration for a holiday fireplace. The tea lights only last maybe an hour, I have been using votive candles.

We got this popcorn popper and were so excited to try it out. My son was shaking it and when I turned my head he dropped it or something and a bunch of the popcorn landed in the fire. I figured he just messed up and emptied what little was left in the pan and the lid fell off. He had dumped most of the popcorn so I did the next batch myself. I was gently shaking it and it just didn't feel right. When I went to put the popped corn into the bowl, the lid fell off again. I'm not sure if this is something I did, a defect in this one popper, but I suggest you be extremely careful with this popper.

The popped corn was great and I will send this one back and get a replacement. I'm really hoping it's a defect in this one popper and the next one will be fine.

This product has much potential to be a 5 star product. The quality of the product material, at this price point, is very good far better than others that I compared it to. E.g. I bought a unit at Walmart for about the same price, which was a piece of junk (1 star at best).

Out of the box, this unit is problematic for the following reasons:

1) The connecting point between the handle and the lid is way too loose. In fact, this caused my first batch of popcorn to fall into the fire due to the connecting point coming free and the pan falling out. Yes, I had it connected properly. My recommendation to the manufacturer would be to connect the handle to the pan rather than the lid of the pan. But even with it attached to the lid, it could still use a more precise attachment. There is just way too much slop in the fitting and the little spring steel release actually acts as a ramp for the end of the handle to slip up on and come loose. I had to modify that little spring steel part to get my handle to stay on without falling off while gently shaking it in the fire while popping corn.

2) The lid is a nice idea but it does not secure tight enough onto the pan to hold the weight under it while shaking (not too hard of course) over a flame. Mine came off while popping a batch, and I was being very careful. I had to modify all the spring clips to get them to hold, but even then, they are still not nearly as tight as they should be. The fix, of course, would be what I suggested above to have the handle attach to the pan and not the lid. It doesn't really make sense to have the lid support the weight of the pan, oil, and popping corn below it when the pan itself could be used to attach a handle.

Besides these frustrating things, I really love this concept. The extending handle, the flip lid, the quality of material, etc. are all great and if these problems were corrected by the manufacturer, I think they would have a 5-star product.

I gave it 3 stars because I still think it's a good value for this price. If you are up for a little modification, you will likely have the best open fire popper anywhere close to this price.

Just don't be too surprised if you loose your first couple batches of popcorn due to poor fit. My family got quite the laugh when they watched me attempt to make them the perfect first batch of popcorn with this thing, only to end with that perfect batch end up on fire, literally, in the coals of our campfire. Fortunately, the pan only received a small ding from hitting a rock.

The size of the sparkguard is perfect for my fireplace. That's the best thing I can say about this item.

The mesh grate part of the item is loose from the bottom frame. It looks like the manufacturer tried to GLUE it back on as there's a white splotch on the inside of the bottom frame and the mesh. The top of the mesh grate is sharp on the inside and is not welded to the top frame my husband sliced his thumb on this while unpacking.

I bought this to have a larger barrier in front of the fire to complete some baby proofing around the fireplace. So the sharp edges is a HUGE minus for me. If I were you I'd look else where and splurge a little more to get a better product.

Just what we needed. Our previous screen did not fit flush with the fireplace. After a large spit of wood from the fire burnt a large hole in a nearby chair (which miraculously did not start a major fire), we knew we needed a fitted screen. These clips are great. We bought these, along with lights, for the first time this year. We hired someone to install our lights, and when he saw these he said they're really great clips & work on all kinds of roofs.

One thing that was a little surprising is the clips that arrived had circular/spiral parts on the clip, while the manufacturer's picture looks like of square/rectagular to me. However, the ones that arrived are fantastic! (I uploaded some pictures of the clips we received above.)

Some of the reviews mentioned that you have to take something off, and I totally didn't quite understand what they meant, but after the clips arrive I totally do. I uploaded a picture of what the clips look like when they arrive, the circle thing you have to remove, and what it looks like if you assemble it back together. It's true that you have to remove a little piece on every clip before using them. However, it only took me about 20 minutes to do a box of 100, and it wasn't a big deal at all I just did it while watching a TV show the night before we had the lights installed.

For icicle lights, we just discarded the little circle it's an optional part included with every clip, but not everyone needs it. However, if you have bulbs that you want placed specifically, the little circle piece converts into a bulb holder. My neighbors used these & their bulbs look like a very straight & tidy line.

I loved these clips mainly because we only needed one type of clip for both the shingles & gutters.

Holds lights to nearly any gutar or shingle for precise lamp placement and angle. There may be easier options but for precision and versatility this is it. I tried the easy pole system clips first but they only hold the wire and let the lamp do whatever they wanted to on the string.

Good product did exactly as i needed it to do.

Left units out for at least 1 month in the weather none broke or got disconnected.

At first it seems a little tricky removing but after awhile it gets really easy.

I mainly did Gutter connections.

These look larger in the photo that they really are. I was concerned they may be too long to fit on our mantle but they're not. Finally, the Chinese did something right. Most Chinese products are s***ty crappy quality. But not this one. This fireplace mantle is beautiful and elegant. (Compliments my Michael Amini Lavelle Blanc furniture perfectly.) Strong, sturdy and soooooo easy to assemble. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL FOLKS!!!....I REALLY GOT LUCKY!!!!! The "FIRE" is thee most realistic I've seen yet with so many variations like interior lighting aglow in the fire chamber, brick siding, red amber burning logs that pulse the fire-light intensities and a shaded mirror in the back of the fire chamber to double the effect of it all. I still can't figure out the mirror in the back and how the brick reflection works...it's like fricken MAGIC...YEAH, LIKE "SMOKE AND MIRRORS"...LOL. It has a washable air-filter. It is virtually soundless when on. The only noise I can hear is if I turn the heater on, simultaneously with the fire, the air blows...very quietly. The only thing I regret is that I wish I had bought my living room electric fireplace from this manufacturer. Someone put alot of design and engineering time into this unit...BRAVO!! I give it 6 stars!

We had considered this product for years but weren't sure if it would make a difference. I wish we hadn't waited so long. The temperature on the Great Room floor has probably risen 2 or 3 degrees because the draft stopped. I would recommend this to anyone who feels that their chimney is loses heat.
