My girlfriend bought this last winter and within two months two bars have come off and one leg is deformed. In the winter we would have a fire about four out of seven days and this did not stand up at all. We burn about 80% pine and 20% oak and his grate was just not up to the task. Maybe for the Duraflame crowd looking for some 'mood lighting' it would be okay to use but it only lasting maybe two months which is crazy.

Good construction and perfect for smaller fireplaces. There's really not much more to say on this. It's a firegrate. Yay.

I wanted to put in a fake log set with a heater but my fireplace is very old and the firebox opening isn't big enough for any of the sets that I like. Basically I need something 19" and smaller so I got this and a few fake logs by themselves and it looks great! This fireplace grate is a nice heavy duty metal and fits and looks perfect in my fireplace. Good price as well. Most fireplace accessories get pretty expensive really quickly but this is a great price and a great piece.

We had been using our old fireplace tools for our woodstove for years. When we switched to these shorter tools, I couldn't believe how much better they were. The tools are well made, very sturdy and perfect for our stove!

Thought this was adorable and it is if you don't mind a tiny chimnea. I realize what the dimensions are but didn't quite grasp how small it would actually be. Can't even fit an average-sized peice of firewood in it. Would love it if only it were larger.

On the one hand this is a glorified spirit alcohol burner with an enclosure. On the other hand it's a very stylish way to add a little heat to the room. IMO, it really is very attractive and looks great in the bathroom. (It's a very large all tile bathroom that gets a little nippy in the winter. See pics.)

I have found on "high" the burner runs thru a quart of fuel in about 2 hours. At "low" it goes for about 3.5 hours. High and low are very subjective because it's just how you place the extinguisher that sets the heat. The flame takes about 15 minutes to grow "full size" and you have to start it on "high" and let it warm up before lowering the flame with the extinguisher.

It does discolor the black paint in the center. Not too bad, but it is noticeable. (see pictures)

My biggest complaint is that it puts a smell into the room. I realize all ethanol burners have to use denatured alcohol, so there will be some smell, but this depends on the fuel, not the burner. Just be aware there is a smell. I am going to try some different ethanol fuels to see if one is not as bad as the e-nrg we bought with this fireplace.

This is a very sturdy fire grate with thick bars running the length of the cradle. Since buying I've dropped it, dropped 30lb logs on it, and burned about a cord of hardwood sitting on it. It has held up with no issues now going on three months. Overall I'd say it's performing better than expected. It certainly beat our old grate that had skinny little tines and completely collapsed after a year.

I purchased this fan at a local retail store, and have it running 24x7. I was hesitant to purchase, based upon reviews of the other doorway fan in the plastic housing. This fan seemed solid in construction, so I gave it a chance. The fan is very quiet, and does not disturb television viewing in the same room.

I'm considering purchasing 2 more for other areas in my house, that could use some heat from my pellet stove.

We've just received two of these, and they are everything they say and more. They are quiet enough for bedrooms, as they literally make no noise whatsoever. And they move a surprising amount of air, despite not being able to "feel" it blowing very much. We have a small wood stove positioned in the center of an old fireplace. We hung these fans in the corners of the fireplace and were shocked at how much hot (not warm, hot!) air they move (we've got one pointing in and one pointing out for optimal air flow). This product is highly recommended. The only thing unknown is shelf life...if there is a problem with the motor casing in the future, we will change our review. But for now, two thumbs up.

A great quiet fan that move a lot of air. It is so quiet you hardly know it is running.

Shipping was very slow.

Honest reviews on Achla Designs Room-to-Room Minuteman Doorway Fan

Pleasantly surprised by this fan. It's small (the blade is about the diameter of a cut grapefruit) and super quiet. The paperwork says it circulates 55 cubic feet of air per minute, which really isn't a lot. But the trick isn't in the volume of air moved, but in the fan's position at the top of our family room door. We use it to deliver air from our woodstove to other parts of the house. It grabs that layer of really warm air at the top of the room and circulates it out into the house. This little fan works much better than my old method of trying to circulate air with a 12" stand fan positioned at the middle of our doorway. That thing was loud, in the way, and didn't do the job. This doorway fan is much smaller, much quieter, out of the way, and does a better job. My wife wants me to buy a second one for the other side of the doorway. P.S.: this unit comes mostly assembled; you have to put on the silver fan guards and mount the whole thing on the door frame. It took 5 10 minutes. There's enough clearance so the door can still close if needed.

These work great, small, compact, effective at moving air and most of all very little noise. Solid construction, all around great product, but one major complaint.

The toggle on/ off switch is near the plug... what a waste. If I have to have a cord hanging down the side of the doorframe, then the on/ off switch should be on this portion of the cord, but instead the off/ on switch is much closer to the plug. What a waste, I hav to reach down near the floor to turn the fan off and on every day, why the off/ on switch isn't near the actual fan is beyond me. Perhaps I just got some messed up models, but this seems to be a mjor design flaw.

I had looked everywhere for new high quality tools for our fireplace. The price of these had me concerned but I was very pleasantly surprised. They are high quailty and look beautiful. Many other sets I found in brick and morter stores cost more and were cheap quailty. The exceeded my expectations. We are thrilled.

I live in a coastal region where it rarely gets cold enough to use my fireplace. Even if it did get that cold, I have a central heating system that defeats the purpose of using a fireplace. But since I have it, I figured I may as well make it look nice instead of letting it just sit and collect dust. This toolkit was part of my plan to decorate the fireplace and make it look presentable to whatever guests may visit. What I like most about the kit is that it's relatively inexpensive and a breeze to put together once it arrives. I looks very nice next to my brick fireplace. My only complaint and I wouldn't even call it a complaint since the toolkit is mostly for show is that the broom bristles are very rough, and a few fell out as I was putting the kit together and placing it. But since I have no intention of actually using the toolkit (maybe once every blue moon), I can't imagine it's going to be that big a deal. It seems to hold up as long as it's not in motion. However, if this is a toolkit you actually plan on using and using often, the broom bristles may be something to consider. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase. The package arrived on time and intact, it was real easy to assemble, and my lil ole fireplace has never looked better.

I am so happy that I was able to read the other reviews on this fireplace tool set! Wow I came very close to spending over $200 on a set, and I'm thrilled to have found this one! It was shipped quickly, arrived in great packaging and we are thrilled with the set! Very high quality for the money and the satin pewter finish is beautiful.

Honest reviews on Uniflame Satin Pewter Fireset with Pedestal Base - 5 Piece

I needed a reasonably priced fire place tool set wanted something in the pewter or brushed nickel look. So far (have only had it a few weeks) seems well made for the price range, attractive and compact what else do you need? I like the set this is the second Uniflame product I have purchased and have been satisfied both with the products and the service.

I'm a big food Network fan and my favorite guy is Alton. What I saw on one of his shows was the most awesome advice for this device. Take ONE, that's right, ONE piece of newspaper and sprinkle a few drops of vegetable oil on it; then put it under your chimney starter (outdoors, please, eggman if you're reading this) and fire it up with a full can of any kind of charcoal. You won't believe how well this works. One more thing; DO NOT set a chimney starter on a gravel driveway when you start it. For some reason, the heat transfers much easier through gravel than concrete. Just put the thing on your grill grate and wait for 20 minutes. You'll have smokin' hot coals that will be almost too hot for smokin' food. I even saw Alton searing tuna on top of one of these things.

This is the absolute best way to get your grill going. Unlike the little chimneys sold at Lowe's, this holds a lot of charcoal, enough to fill an entire kettle grill, and the airflow through it is very efficient. Two sheets of newspaper and a match, and your briquettes will be ready to go in 10-15 minutes.

The aluminized finish on this resists heat and rust quite well. Other reviewers have commented on the helper handle, but the really key feature of this chiminey starter is the conical wire grid inside that holds up the charcoal. Unlike perforated metal plate inside the no-name chimeny starters, this wire grid lets all of the flame from the newspaper through to the charcoal, resulting in the charcoal lighting in half the time.

All of that, and it isn't any more expensive that the no-name brands. Bigger, faster, and more durable. What more could you ask for?

Best Deals for Weber 7416 Rapidfire Chimney Starter

I usually cook in small batches, so I have a small Weber Smokey Joe. Since the grill is so small, I figured I could get away with using a perforated coffee can as a chimney starter to save the $13. I took the can, removed both ends with a can opener, and made a bunch of holes along the bottom with a bottle opener. I then put a sheet of newspaper inside, pile the coals on top, and light it. The can worked, and I used it for over a year, but then I finally decided that this starter was cheap enough that I should give it a try.

The difference is night and day -my coals start in half the time with the Weber, are much hotter when started, and, if I need to, I can start a LOT more coals at once. When they call this "Rapidfire" they mean it. If I had known what I do now, I never would've gone the coffee can route. This thing is so cheap, and works so well, that everyone with a charcoal grill should have one.

Honest reviews on Weber 7416 Rapidfire Chimney Starter

I've had several of these. They are great. Word of warning when done dumping coals look into the chimney to be sure all coals are gone. In the process of transporting my chimney to bare ground, I hadn't noticed that a small piece of coal dropped out and rolled near the house on my deck out of sight. Dog woke me up at 2AM my deck and house were on fire. Got it under control and repaired. Very thankful to my dog and that my home is brick. Since then I have seen coals stuck in the chimney grate after pouring. Please be careful folks. I was fortunate to have a persistent dog. Still use one today.

This starter is bigger than I thought it would be when I ordered it. It is big enough that I have never filled it more than about halfway with briquettes. Even at about half-full it is enough to supply two dutch ovens (12 inch and 14 inch, stacked) with enough firepower to cook a good meal.

I really like that this requires no lighter fluid and will start the charcoal faster than the lighter fluid ever could. Applying a little cooking oil to the paper you place in the bottom does seem to start the charcoal faster, although it will temporarily smoke a bit more. Without adding oil I have found that I sometimes need to wait 10-12 more minutes longer or add more paper to the bottom before the charcoal is fully going.

To stress again the size of this, filling the starter completely as shown in the picture would probably use between one-quarter and one-third of a 20 pound bag of charcoal.

By consistently filling my it to approximately the same level (between the second and third holes on the side) my starter has developed a nice dull ring around it from the oxidation of the aluminum at high temperatures. Yes, the can was red hot (actually glowing). This does not in any way affect function and is almost certainly the reason for the aluminized steel, since this layer of oxidized aluminum will help to prevent oxidation of the steel (rust). I suspect that this would extend to cover the whole can after several years of use or a few big barbecues where the whole can is filled.
