Amazon rocks first table was broken, had a replacement within 5 days no issues. Table was easy to assemble and worked great, very light (we wanted something movable). The glass top get's very hot in the sun during the day, it really needs to be in shade to be usable. Turns out the unit has 2 edge options a wicker and bullnose an option amazon does not seem to acknowldge both units I received had the bullnose edge not as nice, but acceptable. The fitting to change between propane and natural gas came with the unit product says it is optional and thus I ordered, but did not need. The firerocks are the round smooth type, which actually turn out to be nice (I wanted the crystals that looked like little squares of glass). The only downside it does not put out much heat. A friend has a firepit with a double round burner and lava rock it kicks out at least 4x the heat for the same cost (his is very heavy and industrial looking). It seems this might be able to be fixed with some modifications, or maybe adding lava rock that would better reflect heat out. Overall, I am happy with the product.

We live in the desert, with a great mountain view -it's wonderful to watch the sunset, but the temps drop quickly here once the sun starts setting. We chose this table to extend our outdoor parties when it starts to get nippy. Don't expect miracles it won't keep you warm on a freezing night -it probably gives you an extra 10 degrees or so of warmth (feels like 65 degrees, instead of 55 degrees). And it is fun to sit and watch the flames once the sun sets. We use it several times a week.

Overall, we are very pleased with our purchase. It seemed pricey to me, but it costs less than most other 60,000 BTU firepit options. It's solidly built, and quite attractive. It lights up with the push of a button, very reliably.The glass stones are beautiful and dance in the firelight. I was worried the hose leading off to the propane tank would be a trip hazard, but we just put a side table over it, and it hasn't caused a problem. It's very handy to have the glass top that covers the firepit opening, so it can be used as a regular table when we don't need the fire pit.

Unlike other fire pits, this one is quite lightweight, and can be easily moved turned out to be handy one windy day when we moved it to a sheltered area so we could continue to spend time outdoors. A standard sized tank lasts about 8 12 hours, depending on how high you turn the flame up.

The amazon picture show it as it has wicker along the outside edge, which it DOES NOT. It's just metal, matching the other metal pieces on the table. It looks quite nice.

The assembly directions are indecipherable. There aren't that many steps to assemble it, but I got stuck and needed to get a friend to help. The key was to know that the configuration of the legs where they attach to the base matters there is only one way it will work have to get all the bits to do with the gas tank lined up.

I'm real cheap. I bought this to scoop up and save the coals from my grill.

The shovel is a light weight galvanized tin I suppose. It's not real sturdy for doing anything heavy. But it's plenty good for the light work I put it to. If you keep it clean and dry, it should last for several years. The handle is long enough to keep from getting burned by the hot coals.

I paid less than $4 for the shovel, and less than $2 for the shipping. I didn't know anyone shipped for that amount. If they can ship a small shovel of this size for under $2, it makes you wonder why other things cost so much to ship.

I give it 5 stars because it fits my needs very well. A four year old kid digging in a sandbox with heavy wet sand could probably bend the scoop part of the shovel. The round, rolled handle is a little sturdier. If you let ash, or other material that could stay wet, stay on the shovel, it will probably rust up fairly fast. But even then it should last a few years.

Love it, love it, love it. I only installed the mantle. It comes with 2 corbels which I plan on flipping upside down with plexiglass to fit the top (actually the bottom) and placing a small pop light inside. But the mantle is awesome. Every one compliments it. As in previous reviews using the French cleat that comes with it gives it a not so solid feel. I used Liquid Nails just to reinforce it and screwed 2 screws into the wall to adjust it for level. Propped it with a broom until the glue dried overnight. Next day placed stone tile beneath and to the ceiling. Absolutely gorgeous.

I looked on line and in the common stores for a large fire pit that would allow bigger fires and still meet local fire codes for fully covered and contained burning and opted for the Landmann Ball of Fire for several reasons. First, it was at a great price for $189 free delivery, second it was solidly built, third you could open it up and add wood and keep the cover closed to contain embers and debris (some of the other fire pits said not to put the wire mesh cover on them while burning your fire... huh?), forth the shape was nice since I put limestone rocks around the base to make it look built in and add stability. The fire ball is deep enough to allow for small logs, but the viewing space allows you to have smaller fires that are still visible 360 degrees. All in all assembly was easy to do and it came with a free cover to keep it protected from the rain/snow. Very nice and highly recommended!

First, the pros: it's a great looking, easy to use, warmth giving fireplace. We used it the very first day we got it and enjoyed it immensely. I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for the following cons, which have nothing to do with its performance.

The cons: It was missing the poker and it was missing the assembly instructions. Although we didn't particularly need the poker, we most definitely needed the assembly instructions. We went through every piece of paper and styrofoam in the box and they were simply missing. The internet came to the rescue and we downloaded and printed a set.

Originally, it appeared that some of the screws and nuts were missing. But, when we had finally unwrapped everything, including the handles that you assemble late in the process, we found more screws and nuts already mounted (which you have to unmount). In fact, most of the screws and nuts came in bags but they came screwed together, which is of no use and is ultimately a time-waster, since you've got to unscrew them all from one another to use them. Although some of the screws and nuts came assembled to the larger sections of the fireplace, we found several just floating around in the styrofoam when we were looking for the manual. I suspect that they had originally been attached to one of the rings or handles and worked themselves loose during shipping. They're easy to miss, so make sure to inspect everything before you toss out the packaging.

Because of the size and heft of the assembled pieces, this is a two person job. It all fit together reasonably well, but getting the last few screws and holes to line up was difficult since there was little play left in the metal pieces.

Also just wanted to echo a previous reviewer who said that you need to have sand for the bowl. That is indeed what the manual indicates, so we bought three one-pound bags of horticultural sand at the local hardware store. I think five pounds will probably be ideal, so we'll probably add a couple more soon.

Listen guys, my back yard continues to be the place for my buddies and family to come in the coldest days here in NC to sit in front of the pit and enjoy a GREAT fire and some good southern grilling. The unit itself came in solid in the box, and everything was fine until we started assembling it an realized that they sent us 2 of the same panels. Hence, I drilled 2 holes and it was done. Due to the extensive use of this product, the hinges that open the lid with have to be replaced with steel but they are holding up so far. Again, I doubt anyone is putting this much wood through this pit like I am, am an outdoorsman and prefer to be in the cold burning a fire than looking at TV. When I say that we burn wood, I mean we burn wood. All of my buddies have pits and they said that this one is absolutely awesome. To give you guys an idea, we go out on Saturday and literally cut a tree a week, for all of us to replenish our supply. I'd say at least 4 times a week am burning my pit outdoors. You can put huge logs into this thing, without any problems at all. On weekends we go through at least 100 logs without any problems because the wood is still moist, and it take more wood to keep our circle of friends enjoying the heat from all the coals.

This is my first review of many products that I have begun purchasing with Amazon. I got this pit for 179.00 about 4 month to this writing. And although am starting to see some rust from the original paint, it's because I did not use the cover due to having a bloodhound puppy in the yard that right now is destroying anything it can find. In summer when I give it a break I will paint it, replace the hinges, and get it ready for next season or for chilled summer nights. I saw the low scores on this one, and they are absolutely out of their minds on this product, maybe they just could not get around doing some minor things to it, but for me it was no prob at all to work on it.

2 of my buddies are saving up just to get this pit. BUY this product with confidence! Even though they missed matched one of the panels. Am giving this product a 5plus due to the amount of enjoyment that my family and friends have had with it. Remember to start your fire, and then setup the logs straight up tepee style with a 1/4 inch gap between logs even when adding new ones to let the coal feel the oxygen so that the logs light up faster; and you will be moving away from the heat trust me. My buddies bought some of the other pits here, and their wives never came out in the cold; with this pit there sitting outside in the coldest of days with a pad to warm up theirs buns :) us guys just get up and turn around. When this pit gets hot hot, it turns red with the amount of logs we put into it. The kids well they just put there hotdogs on a long S steal stick and cook them charbroil right of the pit. Enjoy this product as much as we have, it's worth the money even at the current price. Peace.

In honor of Earth Day (April 22, 2011), Al Gore and saving the planet from global warming... I decided to help clean up mother earth by raking up a small portion of my yard's pine needles to fill and test out my newly assembled BALL OF FIRE. My only complaints are that Landmann apparently tried to help me by pre-assembling 6 of the approximately 50 nuts and bolts (the rest they decided to thankfully securely package). Thanks to the HDS Delivery Man, those 6 nuts and bolts managed to shake themselves lose and fall out of the half ripped open box during transit to my location. Of course I could not return it for such simpleton reasons because my celebration countdown was already underway. Nor was I dumb enough to buy the minimum replacement quantity of 250 nuts/bolts from my local hardware store, so I nagged my neighbor who saved me from calling the manuals 1-800 'please call us and don't return it' support by utter patience line. Anyways, what really drew my attention to this product was the name BALL OF FIRE, which I have been known for previously making. My Californian neighbors with dirty looks always seem to freak out around FIRE so I was pleased to be the new owner of a patio firepit nearly 3 times as tall as my previous neighborhood device of terror. So check out my picture I posted. Yeah, mine is THE BALL OF FIRE unlike the other posted photos... and by the way a big philips head screw driver and a long head socket set, ratchet and about 1-2 hours of boredom will help you assemble the kit. We've just received two of these, and they are everything they say and more. They are quiet enough for bedrooms, as they literally make no noise whatsoever. And they move a surprising amount of air, despite not being able to "feel" it blowing very much. We have a small wood stove positioned in the center of an old fireplace. We hung these fans in the corners of the fireplace and were shocked at how much hot (not warm, hot!) air they move (we've got one pointing in and one pointing out for optimal air flow). This product is highly recommended. The only thing unknown is shelf life...if there is a problem with the motor casing in the future, we will change our review. But for now, two thumbs up.

Pleasantly surprised by this fan. It's small (the blade is about the diameter of a cut grapefruit) and super quiet. The paperwork says it circulates 55 cubic feet of air per minute, which really isn't a lot. But the trick isn't in the volume of air moved, but in the fan's position at the top of our family room door. We use it to deliver air from our woodstove to other parts of the house. It grabs that layer of really warm air at the top of the room and circulates it out into the house. This little fan works much better than my old method of trying to circulate air with a 12" stand fan positioned at the middle of our doorway. That thing was loud, in the way, and didn't do the job. This doorway fan is much smaller, much quieter, out of the way, and does a better job. My wife wants me to buy a second one for the other side of the doorway. P.S.: this unit comes mostly assembled; you have to put on the silver fan guards and mount the whole thing on the door frame. It took 5 10 minutes. There's enough clearance so the door can still close if needed.

These work great, small, compact, effective at moving air and most of all very little noise. Solid construction, all around great product, but one major complaint.

The toggle on/ off switch is near the plug... what a waste. If I have to have a cord hanging down the side of the doorframe, then the on/ off switch should be on this portion of the cord, but instead the off/ on switch is much closer to the plug. What a waste, I hav to reach down near the floor to turn the fan off and on every day, why the off/ on switch isn't near the actual fan is beyond me. Perhaps I just got some messed up models, but this seems to be a mjor design flaw.

I purchased this screen after an exhaustive search for fireplace screens that had some kind of glass insert (I did not want 100% screening). This product was one of the few screen + glass combos I found and upon arrival, was of higher quality and manufactured of more substantial material than I really expected. Beautiful product and although I had to contact the company to request replacement installation hardware (was missing from the somewhat poorly-taped shipping box) I still am rating it at 5 stars. I would agree with all the other reviews regarding the packaging, if they had better packaging I would give this a 5 star. There was a small chip of paint on one side due to parts rattling around during shipping, other than that it was in perfect condition, for me it wasn't worth sending back. I was looking for a screen with doors for my fireplace and this fit the bill perfectly, the doors open and close fine and line up perfectly with my fireplace opening. If you're looking for a fireplace screen that isn't permanently fixed to the opening then I think you would be completely happy with this product for the money.

This looked to be one of the better options in the price range when viewing online. As soon as I opened the package, I saw how cheap and poorly-constructed this item is. It had portions of the outer black coating chipped and peeling off, multiple scratches, and in general just poor quality. Perhaps some of this is to be expected after sitting on a Chinese cargo vessel for weeks and thrown around until it hit my front door. Just beware and don't be fooled by the appearance of the item online. If you have a local fireplace store that sells screens at a reasonable price check them out first.

We have had our new fireplace logs for about 2 weeks, and we use them most nights. We had the logs installed; it would have been a big job, I think, to install them ourselves. We saved a few hundred dollars from the estimate by a local fireplace store for the logs, but for a better product. This set is a dual burner, so the fire is all around and between the logs, just like a wood fire. The G45 is recommended over the G4 on the Real Frye web site as more efficient. We went with a smaller log set and a better burner. It looks good.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS THING! HERE'S WHY:

I've had my Vogelzang BX-42E 'boxwood' stove for a little over two years. When I first bought it, I was a bit disappointed that the stove came without a grate of any kind. Another trip to Tractor Supply, and I came home with a Vogelzang Model 42G, a one-piece cast iron grate specifically designed for the BX-42E stove. The grate barely lasted through that first winter, and I discarded it in the spring, melted, deformed, cracked and broken.

I bought a new one at the beginning of the 2009 heating season, and by spring 2010 it was showing a pronounced sag in the middle. I let it go and began using it again this past fall, but soon the sag touched the bottom of the stove and the bowl-like depression collected a large "platter" of solid ashes and cinders that almost completely blocked combustion air to the back half of the stove. Keeping a fire lit and getting the stove to perform to its potential became impossible.

I think the main problem with this grate is poor design, specifically the narrow slots between grate bars. The pictures are misleading. I can't get my index finger through one of the slots on mine. This restricts combustion air flow and allows hot coals to accumulate literally inches thick on the grate, heating it to blast-furnace temperatures and causing it to melt. If you've ever seen the fire in an old-fashioned blacksmith's forge, you get the idea.

I'm lucky enough to have a good neighbor who can weld. Together we designed and fabricated a grate from scrap steel angle and rebar. The new grate has spaces of about 1 1/4" between crossbars. After replacing the saggy old 42G with our "shade tree" grate, I would estimate that the stove's heat output jumped instantly at least 75%. Just as importantly, the gaps between the bars allow the coals and cinders to fall easily through to the stove's bottom, where they quickly burn down to ash.

If you own a boxwood cast iron stove, get a grate! It will prolong the life of the stove and allow it to perform to its potential. BUT don't waste your money on this one. Find another, more suitable grate that will fit, or have one made.

This product really works well to start a log fire in a fireplace. The problem is that the description doesn't make it clear as to what quantity you're actually purchasing, which is Duraflame's fault, not Amazon's. So, look at the product photo. The wrapped package in front of the box, is much smaller than the box. In that package is four "double sticks" of fire starter each "double stick" is split in half, each half is placed under the opposite ends of a log, with another log over the first one. Sooooooo, one package will start four fires in your fireplace. There are six packages in the box, so the quantity in the box will start 24 fires. That's what the "24" on the box means. You didn't know that? You need to work on your clairvoyance (#sarcasm).

We've used these for years to get the fire started in the fireplace. It takes awhile especially with a cold down-draft coming down the chimney, but using these to slowly warm up the chimney, then opening a window/door to let some cooler air in, helps the fire get going much faster.

work fine, but you need fairly small kindling for fire to be started properly. OK because in the dead of winter I don't really start many fires, just add to ongoing fire.
