I bought this approximately six months ago and at first really enjoyed it. It's well designed and ruggedly built and has considerable heft to it so it won't blow over in the wind. The highly polished stainless steel top really adds to the appearance of the flame making it appear much larger and brighter than it really is. A good design feature. The only problem right off the bat was that gel fuels leave behind a black gummy residue that's impossible to remove. Most likely it's the additives mixed with the alcohol that provide the rich yellow flame color and appealing crackle as the fire burns. But the real problem came about 2 months after I purchased the item when I learned that pourable gel fuel had all been recalled from the market (all manufacturers) and was no longer available. I wrote to Blomus and asked them if I could use the new fuel (replacement for pourable gel) ethanol alcohol. I was told I could not. I was told that gel was still available in "cans" (which I already knew) and that I could use a spoon to transfer the gel from the can to the unit. Problem is the process is a pain. The cans were designed to burn the gel inside the can and were not designed for a spoon. Too much is wasted and the process is messy. A pain in the neck quite frankly and much harder to control which causes it to spill on the polished surface stain it. In summary this unit was made specifically for use with pourable gel fuel which is no longer being sold. Yes, you can buy the small (made to be burned) cans which are really made for use in fireplaces designed specifically for holding the cans, but the process of transferring the gel with a spoon to the unit is a pain. If you could burn liquid ethanol fuel in this it would be worthwhile but since you can't I'm stuck with a messy headache. Before buying this unit I would recommend checking out some of the bioethanol fireplaces available. Larger more colorful flames, double the heat of gel,cheaper fuel costs and much easier to get. There are some really neat units out there too!

The grate is very solid/well built and looks like it will last a very long time. I have had two hot, all day fires in it and it still looks brand new. I can't believe how quickly the log set arrived! It is just what we wanted since we cannot use our firerplace for a real fire. It does provide supplemental warmth and we enjoy watching it as do our cats. Our only problem was that we plugged it into an outlet that serviced our TV, several lights, etc., and when I turned the controls to their highest position, we had darkness!! We have an older house and had not thought about the wiring. The log set now has its own outlet and line. Thank you for a good product, good service, and a great price!!

Arrived super fast. Easy: just pull out of the box and plug in. I live in a mission-style 1926 apt that formerly had natural gas inserts. To sub fire, I bought this. Potentially cheesy on its own, it morphs into an almost glorious scene (to disguise the Lego-look, I camouflaged with an attractive fireplace screen.) Keeps the room slightly warmer (9'x14') so not a big game changer in the heat dept. Remote control fake fire does kick some butt during rainy Seattle months. Good value for added ambiance.

Wow, I received the rug today and it really exceeded my expectations. It is thick, dense and beautiful. It lays very nicely perfectly fitting the area that I needed a rug. It doesn't move when people walk on it, and I am sure I will be able to vacuum it without it getting stuck in the vacuum (although I havent tried this yet). I wish I could get this in a longer runner size, I would buy a few more. I can tell this will last many years.

These gloves were absolutely gorgeous and well-made, but they were about 2 sizes too big for my small hands (I wear a size 6 wedding ring if that helps) and I had to return them. It made me sad to return them because they were otherwize beautiful and flawless. But I could not manage to move anything with these huge gloves on.

We're having a Halloween party at church, and I wanted a minimal clothing addition in the spirit of the event. I ordered this hoping it would be a light "shawl" to fling around my shoulders, and it will be perfect. The lace has a nice body, and it hangs well so you can really see the bats. The mantle scarf is great! Nice quality, and it hung great on the mantle, straight out of the package. We have a mantle with a white finish, so the color shows through nicely. Also, our fireplace is in a corner, and the length of this is just perfect (just about an inch short on each side), so that is hangs well without looking awkward.

It was easy to put up, we just laid it on the mantle and put a couple of miniature pumpkins along the edge, and it was good to go. We've received lots of compliments on it, and even my hard-to-please hubby likes it!

This item was not what I wanted, this damn thing is as flat as a piece of paper. What kind of stove can use this? I am very unhappy with this item and when I called the customer service number, the guy just said "we are an online service, we have never looked at the item", yea they just take my money. I did a lot of research before selecting this model. It arrived promptly, was packaged perfectly, and relatively easy to assemble but it does require two people. It took two women two hours to do it.

The cabinet quality was excellent, and the firebox slipped in easily. After reading reviews about the firebox model, I was worried about the mirror at the back of the firebox, but it isn't noticable once installed. The heater works remarkable well, and warms a 300 sq. ft. study easily. If you are looking for an attractive media console, and are looking for some additional heat, you will be very satisfied. I found that the "ember" bed under the firebox was a bit too bright, I used some black wood stove polish and smudged up some of the embers which did the trick.

Warning, do not attempt to set up the remote control by the instructions on the back of the remote, go to the owners manual, remote section, for the proper instructions to activate the remote (the instructions on the back of the remote are to be used only if the remote needs to be reset).

Well, I had high hopes for this lighter. It looks nice, but is VERY difficult to light. I have the valve turned up all the way to maximum and it won't light. Takes like 5-15 tries. Plus the tension on the lighter button is so much that it is really hard to click it and hurts your fingers. I followed the instructions from the company making this product and emptied it out (just in case there was air in it). I refilled it as instructed and same issue.

Flame is inconsistent too. Sometimes small...and sometimes GIANT. Would not recommend. Unfortunately there are not a lot of good options for refillable lighters that I have seen online. :(

arrived quickly, looked as exactly as pictured and worked perfectly the first time. plan to use it at our daughter's wedding next month to light the unity candles. but this is something i expect to be using all year long to light candles at home.

It is very elegant looking, but function leaves much to be desired. It was always hard to press the trigger, but after only a few uses, it takes me two hands to make it work and my wife cannot do it at all. Then, it never lights the first time--usually not until the second or third try. If I were a marketer, I'd just say that it is child-proof! (It's not a bug, it's a feature!)

It may simply be the one I received is bad or that directions (there weren't any) might explain how to change the pressure required to use it or to open it to refill. Bottom line, we're not very pleased with it.

I was looking for a quality log carrier. After reading the reviews for various log carriers, this carrier appeared to be the best for the price range I was looking for. The carrier arrived a few days after I ordered it and I was very satified with the construction and size. I have used it numerous times in the few weeks I have had it and have found it to be extremely useful It makes carrying the wood into the house so much easier than carrying it in my arms. We have a fieplace wood burning insert and have a fire almost daily from morning to night. I have used it quite a bit with no problems. The material is heavy enough and the handles are attached very well. I recommend this product to anyone.
