We have big fireplaces and have big fires. So we need bigger tools so we are not burning our arms when we shift logs, etc.

These are nice big tools and they keep our hands and arms mostly out of the fire.

The only complaint I have with these also applies to all of the fireplace tools made from bar stock steel. The poker is worthless as a pulling tool. The "Barb" at the end is too far back on the poker (and not sharp) to be used to grab a log that is not suspended on other logs.

I am planning a field modification to this to put a sharper hook on the END of the tool. I'll let you know how that works out.

I looked over many sets on-line and I chose this one based on looks and certainly on the weight of the set. If you look at the other sets, most of them weigh much less; some even one-half of what this weighs. My last set was much cheaper and it showed after time.... the shovel could bend at the shovel end, etc. I was concerned buying a tool set on line without seeing and feeling it. I was certainly pleased when this one arrived and I knew instantly that it would hold up for a lifetime. It is heavy duty. Very pleased with my purchase. Highly recommend. Looks great!

This fireplace is not worth the money that I paid for it. Looks like tile around the fireplace it is not it is fake yellow wood color and it is so ugly. Also the insert fireplace does not fit properly and there is a 1 inch gap at the top so you can see right through it to the wall. Also the fireplace does not fit into the hole snuggly it doesn't look like the picture at all. So ugly... We ended up buying granite and putting granite around the fireplace. Looks nicer but when you pay that much for something you would think it would be alittle nicer. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!!

It is NOT real but uses about 10 watts without the heater, looks fine and does have a remote control and separate heat, NO sound. The heater has a blower fan that makes a little noise but seems to put out a decent amount of heat for a small electric heater. I have glass screen doors so I really can not comment on the actual effectiveness of the heater.

I moved my gas logs to the back. I place this unit on the old grate which elevates the units remote sensor and controls above the brass base trim of my glass doors. In an emergency I could remove the unit and use gas.

TIP: Looks are dependent on room lighting. The dancing flames are projected out the back. A 24"x24" piece of cardboard upright 3"-4" behind helps the flames appearance. The cardboard could be spay painted any color to match the interior.

UPDATE: This unit has been "ON" (no heat) for at least 4 hours each day and usually closer to 12-16 hours for more than the last 2 weeks. It has given new LIFE to the 15 year unused fireplace dark hole in the wall.

This unit is probably my best $100 purchase this year if it continues to run.

UPDATE 2: I have lowered my rating. After 3 weeks of extended use the flame intensity seems to have diminished some. I am glad I did not pay over $100. It does not look like it will last. It does have a 3 year warranty but returns are a pain including the time of waiting for a replacement.

I was shopping around for alternative method fireplaces & this is the best & cheapest one I found. Just moved into an old victorian with 3 beautiful fireplaces that have been sealed. Since I am renting & not the owner, I wanted a way to enjoy my beautiful fireplace & also get heat from it ( super expensive to run the old heating system). I had a tower ceramic heater, but that looked bad & got in the way. I looked into the gel log sets, the silly looking logs that you put candles in (too expensive to buy the gels all the time) The fireplaces made by the amish(and others like it) were way too big to fit in my small fireplace & 100's of dollars! this one has heat, a remote (battery included :D) & all you have to do is plug it in. The "flames" are made by a rolling device that emits LED light in the shape of flames. When the lights are on it can look kinda hokeybut it looks almost real with the lights off.

As a little girl of the 70's I remember watching the Christmas specials with the snow falling outside and everyone sitting in front of the fireplace singing Christmas carols by a roaring fire, hot chocolate in hand, Christmas stockings hanging from the mantle and the Christmas tree twinkling in the background but reality is that I am a Florida native and our Christmases here are usually very balmy so a fireplace is just out of place here. Nevertheless I have always wanted a fireplace that I could decorate for the holidays just like in all of those Christmas specials I watched as a child but I live in a rental home so building a real fireplace is out of the question so what was I to do? I chose to build a faux fireplace and just light it with some white Christmas lights or some other type of lights to give the illusion of a fire but without the right kind of light effect AND heat (who can have a fire without heat?!)it just wasn't what my heart yearned for so I kept searching for a more realistic effect until I came across a REAL fireplace with a electric fireplace insert from KW and even better it had heat. I was so excited about my find but I am a very choosy person when purchasing something I can't actually touch and examine so it took me 2 weeks to finally decide on which electric fireplace insert I wanted AND then make the jump to purchasing it so after 2 weeks and looking at pictures of every electric fireplace insert I could find online I finally chose the one with the most realistic effect and with heat. I am thrilled with my KW electric log set w/heater! Right now it is set up in my living room awaiting it's mantle(hubby isn't quite motivated lol) but even right out of the box this electric log set is beautiful and so easy to use. Just plug it in and turn it on. The remote is very simple to use with only 3 buttons, one for power, one for flame effect and one for heat and even better you can turn the heat off and just use the flame effect which I do every night! The only thing I wish it had is sound effects but I still love, love, love, my "fireplace" and I can't wait to get it all decorated for Christmas this year. It's going to be magical!

It is exactly what I was looking for. It is perfect for the fake fireplaces that used the cans of gel you light on fire. I had one for 15yrs that I couldn't use because the gel in the cans made my eyes water, so when I saw electric log set I bought it. It works perfect!

It's a must have if you are an RV'r who loves a campfire.. Sometimes you need to rebuild those perfect wood burning structures to put out even heat.. Or if you are like me you need to set that burning log on top of the dutch oven.. this is perfect for just that.. It lifts the log up (With just a little muscle work on your part) and then it puts the log down. (Again with a little muscle work on your part.)

So... To be clear it does not "Lift Logs up" and then "Put Logs down" automatically... You do have to put a little hand, arm, and yes a little back muscle into it....If they could make it automatic easy 5 star.... But for comedy sake I give it only a 4 star cause my muscles ache. LOL

I consider this type of tool a must have for car camping a long hollow rod allows you to blow air exactly where a fire needs it without getting down on your hands and knees and putting your face far too close to the action. There are many combination 'blow poke' blowing tube / fire pokers on the market, but this one is my favorite. As a poker the FireDragon is excellent the rod is sturdy and a good length, and the fork on the end, rather than a single prong like many of its competitors, makes for easy and confident log and coal manipulation. And the tube is a large enough diameter for you to blow easily through it. The brass mouthpiece is comfortable to use, and does its job well. After a few seasons of use this tool is showing no wear, so I anticipate a lifetime of good service from it.

I love this product! There is not much to it as far as function goes, its a hollow tube with a mouthpiece on one end and a fork on the other. I use it all of the time for moving and flipping logs in my fire pit, as well as putting some air on a stubborn/smokey fire. The only thing wrong with the product is the weld along the flange of the brass mouthpiece. The seam where the brass goes from being part of the shaft to the flared out portion is very weak, and will easily break if you are not careful.

I usually lean mine up against the arm of my chair or similar between uses while sitting around the fire. Through the course of an evening it might occasionally slide down the arm and tip over. Just that impact has been enough to break the questionable weld. It can be easily fixed with JBWeld or similar, since its not subjected to the fire and just holding the mouthpiece together. Were it not for that weak seam/weld, this would be a 5 star item all-day-long.

I like the item so much that after my first broke, I ordered a spare. The one I fixed is holding together fine, and the epoxy is likely much more solid than the original weld. The new one is still in the box as a spare, but I inspected the weld when I received it. Sadly, its painfully apparent that this weld is still the weakest link. Be careful, and don't let it fall over onto anything hard because eventually, it will break off the mouthpiece.

This is a nice addition to our rustic "cabin". Another reviewer complained that it's pale green. That's incorrect.

Of course everyone sees colors differently but i would say that top and bottom have a faux cement look that is

I bought this hoping to actually use it. Mine was shipped to me damaged with dents in the wood. That a side my biggst problem with it is that it doesn't hold enough air to do anything to a fire. The volume of air it holds amounts to little more than a small puff of air. If you want a decoration . . fine. If you need a functional bellows then I would get a much larger one than this.

This product was a gift. I initially was disappointed with it just because of the cheapness of the strap in the handle that keeps it closed when not in use and that it can be hung by. A little leather or something more sturdy would be nice for the price. The appearance in general was good. As I said it was a gift and the recipient thinks it does a great job so he likes it, although he agrees with my above statement.

I wish we would have known about these a long time ago. We have a gas log stove that is at least 10 years old and has only a manual on/off switch. If we were gone for the day our house was either too cold or too hot since it didn't have an automatic thermostat. We found out about these about a month ago and decided to order this one to see if it would work on our stove. My husband had it operating in about 20 minutes and it is great!! Since our stove does have a built in blower we are keeping it on at about medium speed and so far it's been a perfect set up. We are now hoping this product will last for some time, but for right now it is the best $100 we have spent in a long time!

Bought this thermostat and when installed tested it agains the three other thermostats in my house and it was four degrees off consistently. I contacted Skytech and they said it is normal to be off 2 to 3 degrees. They said I could send it back for calibration. I just received this. I wasn't about to send it back. Now after programming several times, there is a glitch that on Sunday the set temperature is glitchy and continues to run past the set temperature.

I like it but it has many problems.

I was not able to fit this balloon in my flue because the flue was too far above the damper. So I bought the wrong size for my application. I'm going to try putting it up in the top of my chimney where the flue is easily accessed. My problem was that I did not do enough research. This is definitely a MEASURE TWICE CUT ONCE type of product. Go to the ChimneyBalloon.com website and get educated first, then order one.

The product seems well designed and the instructions are good. I felt the price was high but I guess fair since many people might mistakenly buy the wrong size and they likely have to handle a lot of returns and or exchanges. I think they are good at this though, or so I've read.

Amazon was fast and reliable as they always are.

I just purchased a Cast iron humidifier and love it-$5.95 at the local thrift store.Cast iron needs to be seasoned,just like a cast iron skillet.Clean your cast iron item,dry it out,then rub bacon grease on it,inside and out(that's the best way)or olive oil or shortening and bake it in the oven for an hour or so-that should stop the rust,let it cool down in the oven.One reviewer said she was going to paint her's-that's probally not a good idea if you are going to use it-to many chemicals in the air.Oiling it will make it nice and black.

This cast iron kettle is very sturdy and it looks great on our wood stove. Keeping it full of water while burning a fire to keep the house warm is a great way to keep moisture in the air. Before using this kettle, it became hard to breathe since my nose and throat would dry out. Now there are no worries!

I absolutely love this unit. I have not had any issues thus far and can only say good things about it. The flames are very realistic looking and it even flickers off the wall every now and then. It's cool to the touch so you don't have to worry about kids or pets getting hurt. I love that you can turn off the heat and just have the flames flickering. The remote is a nice addition as well.
