Fuel burns clean. We use it in a portable fireplace in a yoga studio and there is no appreciable smell to the fuel when burning and there is only a slight smoke smell when extinguished. Unlike many of the bio-ethanol products it appears to be mostly ethanol and iso-propanol. There appears to be no methanol content and as such the unburned product smells more like moonshine compared to the methanol which smells more like acid.

We tried the fuel out in our Brasa fireplace last night. It works very well and burns clean. There is a slight smell, however nothing overwhelming ...use the differenct scents to lessen the fuel smell. This fuel is hard to light, but once it gets started it Burns beautifully and without any odor. It is an improvement over the fuel I was using which was volatile. I'll take slow lighting over unpredictable spattering.
