The order process was easy, the shipping was fast and the price was right as it always is with AMAZON. The only problem is that the gasket seal wont come out of the tube and what does is lumpy or crystalized. Others have made the same comment in similar reviews and I didn't listen. This must be old stock, if it isn't then someone should really re-think the product design. Truly a waste of money! I ended up going to the auto parts store and buying gasket adhesive from them. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on this product. At this point if you still insist on purchasing then it is on you and you have no room to complain when you determine yourself it is worthless as you have been warned.

Every year or two I replace the gasket in my wood stove. I do not do this because I want to. I have to because the gasket has fallen off...again Replacing has always been a chore because the cement usually has the adhesive quality of dry sand. This Rutland cement was different. It has enough tack to even hold the gasket upside down on the flue damper. It made the replacement job very easy AND even better, it is still holding firm even though it is almost the end of the season. Definitely a thumbs up. Most important thing in application I found is getting the right amount of cement in the track. Real easy to use too much and get it everywhere. Even this is not a problem since it cleans up with water.

Used this to glue on the gasket of our wood stove. So far so good, but it has only been a month. One problem was the product came out of the wrong end of the tube. The crimped seal gave way all too easily.

This is an easy to use product that will work very well IF the directions are closely followed. The most important thing is to MAKE SURE that the old cement is out of there...use steel wool, a wire brush, a grinder drill bit...just make sure you are down to the metal. I cannot emphasis this enough. Also, don't use it to sparingly, picture it spreading as the door closes against the stove. It takes a bit of product.

That said, I think next time I might use high temp silicone...just to see how it works.

Wow this thing really cranks out some serious heat. It uses less energy than most ceramic heaters and is very stylish. I leave it on low and am wowed by its ability to heat a room up. The build quality is second to none. I love that it has a quality dust filter on back that will make for easy cleaning. My only complaint would be that the front grill get super hot making it difficult to pick up when it is on. If they made a little handle or recess in the back to help protect your fingers it would get 5 stars hands down!!!

I bought this little guy because it was the same price as similarly specced machines, and it had the lowest wattage setting of them all (600W/1200W on LOW/HI respectively).

Pros:

It heats my little 10x10 bedroom super fast. Because it is a lower wattage, I do have it plugged into an extension cord, and have not noticed any weird behavior. Both the heater plug and extension cord plug are cool to the touch after two hours of running the machine, which is about all I ever run it for anyway. The back, sides and bottom of the machine also say cool to the touch (at least on the low setting), which puts me at ease having is only 1ft from the wall in a corner of my little room. It is also quiet enough that I can watch TV and listen to music at pretty conservative volumes (I have roommates and like to watch TV in bed at night w/ this heater running).

Cons:

I was just looking at the unit and noticed the sticker on the bottom says the wattage is 800W/1200W... which is an extra 200W on the lower setting than advertised on both the box and on the site. This is a little disappointing, but not a total deal breaker. Also, the unit does not have any safety features (that I can see). It does not have tip-over protection, which leads me to believe it probably doesn't ahve overheat protection either... I can't be sure on this, but a quick skim of the brochure it came with didn't really tell me much.

Over, a decent heater if you don't plan to leave it running all the time while unattended; and if the 800W low setting isn't a deal breaker. It would be nice if that spec was changed on both the box and the site.

Amazon carries another heater by the same maker as this one, it is the "Crane EE-6353 Space Heater 600/1200 Watt". The Product Features and Details seem to be switched on these two. At least this is my assumption; check them both out and you will probably agree.

For instance, the larger one is probably the one that is 20" tall, and the smaller one 8.6" tall. Another important difference: the smaller one probably does not come with a remote, but the larger one probably does.

This is a 800/1200 watt unit not 600/1200 if it matters to anyone. It is 8" high by 3.25" deep by about 6.75" wide. The picture and model number are now correct on Amazon. No, it does not have a remote.

Someone posted that this unit has tip-protection, but it does not (I just tried it). Disconcerting, but i'll live with it. If anyone is wondering, as it was a selling point for me, the construction is mostly metal (case & grate at least, impressive in a sea of plastic heaters), and the case does not get hot despite the warning sticker on top of the unit.

I am pleased with the performance, even though I'm downgrading from a Pelonis 4-ceramic-disk heater (It was my parents', I moved out, it stayed), and upgrading from a temporary [crappy] Lasko 'milk-house' style heater Wally World special. I wanted to get a Pelonis, but the company seems to barely acknowledge it's existence anymore and I didn't want to drop down 70 Washingtons for it. While the Pelonis is still superior to this unit, I think this little Crane comes pretty close, and I'll echo other reviews here for quiet operation and for heating up a 10x10 room pretty well. I suspect the only reason the Pelonis seemed to work better was due to more infrared heat put out of the unit and more air forced through the heating element (same fan size, but higher speed, your trade-off is loudness though).

Keep in mind that the vast majority of 'ceramic' heaters, including this one, don't use perforated ceramic plates, the kind used in the Pelonis and good infrared saunas (I have one, the plates in the heating units are similar to the Pelonis disks). To be honest, I don't even see where the 'ceramic' part comes into play with the Crane, it just looks like a metal element. But again, it still heats well, and for less than 35 dollars, it's hard to beat when accounting for it's size.

Pretty good value for the price. I do wish it were one piece, as opposed to three. The poker, shaft, and handle are all separate pieces that screw together. They always seem to loosen on mine. I use mine for outdoor campfires, so I may be a little rougher on mine than most.

P.s. If you use yours outside, I've found that a couple pieces of reflective tape on the shaft will help you find it in the dark.

I have a firepit that came with a poker that had a plastic handle. One evening I stepped on it and it broke. I needed a replacement and bought this. This has worked great. I've never seen anything packaged so well. It took more time to unpack this thing than it did to install it. If you visit the manufacturers website, you can watch a video on how to install these doors. I did so and didn't even need the instructions.

I selected the "Large" Clairmont design for a 36" wide fireplace. A very perfect fit. The doors span exactly 36" so when opened, I can see the whole width of the fireplace. I had considered a non bi-fold door however, when opened, the non bi-fold doors interfere with objects sitting on the hearth. Plus, the non bi-fold doors look like an open cabinet when in use. They look great when closed, but when opened, they look sort of goofy.

The picture of these doors don't do them justice. The bi-fold doors are very handsome when opened. They look like window shutters when opened and they don't interfere with anything on the hearth. When the doors are closed and the fireplace is not in use, the smoked glass and screen doors hide the ugly fireplace from view. The doors are very heavy (shipping weight was 57 pounds). You can feel the weight when you open and close them. The glass doors and screen doors are held shut by magnets when closed. The screen doors are single (non bi-fold) doors and sit about an inch behind the glass doors when closed.

Unlike the Ascot design, the Clairmont is more of a framed box design (it has depth). It accented the fireplace nicely and fit well against a non smooth surface. The Ascot design looks like it would be better suited for a smooth marble fireplace.

Like all glass doors, you keep them open when the fire is burning. Only the screen doors should be closed to prevent embers from escaping. After the fire dies down you can close the glass doors without fear of them cracking from the heat.

We installed these glass doors a year ago. Last winter, we used a large amount of firewood and didn't have an issue. My one complaint is that you're not supposed to burn with the doors shut. I think that's true for all glass doors. Sure makes the advertisement picture look misleading as pointed out previously. As I recall, the installation was brief.

The Clairmont arrived swiftly (Thank you Amazon!!), was well packed and the directions were fairly clear. Installation would have been relatively simple until we discovered that our lintel was too wide for their "normal attachment process." They have an alternate process for this situation that involves drilling two 7/32's holes in the lintel to accommodate their (supplied with the unit) two self tapping screws. The self tapping screws (1/4" diameter) are too "soft" because instead of tapping the iron of the lintel, the process flattened their threads. Okay Plan B >> go to Home Depot and get a 1/4" 20 tap along with two 1/4" 20 short machine screws and lockwashers. Upon returning drilled the holes (7/32" drill) a little deeper to deal with the length of the machine screw, tapped the holes (don't forget to use some oil with the tap > heavier weights or tapping oil are best). And it went together easily securing the unit in place.

One other minor concern the insulation supplied was inadequate to fill the void. These fireplace doors are supposed to cut heat loss up the chimney but if that void between the frame of the fireplace doors and the masonry isn't decently full (it should loosely fill the void not be tightly packed)then so much for cutting your heat loss. Fortunately, I have plenty of building supplies including insulation and augmented the insulation provided.

Now how many stars to give it? Handsome unit, great price, well packed, clear instructions, would give it a solid five. Unfortunately, the two "minor concerns" could be easily addressed by the company. Two higher grade self-tapping screws and the addition of a little more insulation wouldn't break their bank. I think it really deserves a 4 1/2 half stars. But that's not an option. So based on the price (compared to the outrageously priced stuff from the fancy-schmancy fireplace stores) it gets a five. Just keep in mind if you have a situation similar to us: tap, screws, lockwashers, insulation will run you about another 15 bucks plus the time it takes to round the stuff up.

Very nice! It exceeded my expectations. Heavy gauge steel. Decent welds. The floral scroll work looks a little..too much in the pictures but is very nice in real life. Heavy duty masonry fasteners included, but would have been nice if masonry drill bit had been also. I used fasteners I already had with drill bit size I already had instead and it worked fine. I bought the 24 inch. It is actually 24 inches from wall to tip, more like 22 inches from wall to center of hook where pot hangs.

I would not hesitate to buy again!

This screen is so pretty, BUT......it arrived not in the best of shape. This may be a packing problem. The 3rd part of the screen was not attached which may cut down on the size of the box, BUT...the hinges were bent and the screws to attach it were just floating around in the box. There was only one piece of bubble wrap around it! Yes, the top of the main panel is dented. We were able to replace the hinges and put it together. It would have been returned, but I needed it now. Some day when I have 'free' time (what is that??), I will sand it and put paint back on the dent. For something that wasn't cheap, I'm disappointed in Amazon's provider.

I sent this back and had another one shipped -exact same problem! It was ripped off the hinges -so the holes for the screws were too big -and the hinges themselves were dented and it looked as if the thing had been dropped a few times BEFORE being put in the bubble wrap. I repeat -it arrived in this condition not once. But twice. Why bother to ship a broken item? Who isn't going to return a broken unusable POS? Do not buy this.

Be sure this is big enough to fit your fireplace. It is too small for mine, but also a huge pain to return such and awkwardly sized item, so I am making it work.

The hinges are VERY flimsy and it basically fell apart as I tried to put it on my hearth. I had to dig up some bigger screws and strengthen the hinges so it won't fall apart.

Sorry, I cannot recommend this product for the price I paid for it...

It arrived with the cheap hinges bent and the screws pulled out of the cheap MDF (sawdust & glue). The painting is just a print job glued onto the MDF. This would not be safe in front of a real fire. We are returning it.

Nice good gauge screen. But the panel widths actually measure 23 1/4" instead of full 24". They barely overlap for closure. The 24" panels would have made a perfect fit/closure. Just allow a couple extra inches on the width and you will be pleased with this product.

Hopefully this video captures the charm of the artificial fire. I love it! It's safer than a real fire and much cleaner. Flip a switch and it's on, flip a switch and it's off. The switches and temperature dial are located behind the door, below the faux fire. When the blower is on the warm air comes from the base between the front legs. No assembly was necessary. Only the door and embers are plastic, the unit is metal. It's sturdy but light enough to carry to different locations.

Ordered this little stove and was pleasantly surprised! Love the happy red color, and it's a great space heater as well as artificial fireplace. Double switch allows you to use only heat, only fire, or both. We've enjoyed using it as an extra heater over the winter.

This electric stove does warm my 12 x 12 bedroom adequately as a backup, but not nearly as quickly as my old Lasko ceramic heater, which was just too ugly to bear. The thermostat is a dial, located behind the door, near the floor. This keeps it out of sight, but a little difficult to reach. There are no numbers on this dial so one must set it by turning it until it goes on and maintains the temperature you're comfortable with. The on and off switches are also located in the same place. The flame can be turned on without heat, but must be on for heat to work. I took a paper and cut a template and tried to determine the temperature by placing my old Lasko with the digital thermostat next to it. That helped somewhat. Then I marked the template with what I was comfortable with at different settings one for overnight. So the thermostat was a disappointment. The flames are pleasant, but the Vernon I bought is more realistic (though it did not have functions as advertised). The heater is very sturdy, and attractive. I like the bright red. I replaced the two bulbs (candelabra 40 watt) with 15 watts so I wouldn't feel guilty about burning electrictiy. Generally, lookswise, this heater is perfect for my Victorian style decor and I won't mind leaving it in the room year round and enjoying the fireplace any time. It will also make a cute table top to set my fan on in the summer.

I am absolutely delighted with this little red stove! Everything about this purchase has turned out to be even better than ever expected: stove is a sturdy metal of caboose red. WORKS VERY QUIETLY AND EFFICIENTLY. I have a 400 sq ft park model home. I wanted this little stove to be used in the living/dining/and kitchen area, which is about 60% of my home's space. The first morning after I got the stove, we had a cold front (well, in Texas, it was about 45 degrees with cold winds). I bought this heater to use rather than turn on the central electric heat, as I'm usually in the main living area during the day and I saw no need to heat the entire trailer. I turned it on, both the flames and the heater, and turned the thermostat dial. The blower is quiet and I thought the heater wasn't working, but within 15 minutes -with the thermostat turning the heater on and off automatically -the area was already fairly comfortable. I have wood floors and set the unit's plastic legs (housing is sturdy metal with, I believe, a plexiglass or even glass window on the door) directly on the wood and was pleased to confirm that the heat from the blower is aimed outward, not downward, an the floor and housing of the heater remained cool enough to touch -housing in places was warm but not hot. The quality of the stove's design and workmanship is way way beyond what I'd expect for the price of $69.99 + shipping I paid. Shipping was fast and the stove was well packed to avoid damage during shipping. GO AHEAD, BUY IT!!! I think you'll be as delighted as I am.
