I bought one of these as a present for my husband. It vacuums fine. However, it has a good sized dent in the lower back, where the I.D. plate is, though it was well packed. That means it was already dented when they put it in the box. The dent prevents the cord from being retracted, so it dangles helplessly out the back. I specifically chose this model so I could leave in on the fireplace hearth since it is better looking that all the rest I saw. I emailed the seller weeks ago and I have not heard one word from them-not even that they acknowledged receiving my email. I am still waiting for some kind of answer as to options for fixing it.

I've had this vac for 5 years now. Suction is good, and haven't had the dust problems as 1 consumer has stated. Wonder if both filters were installed correctly. The canister and lid are heavy duty and will probably outlast the vacuum itself. From time to time I've had difficulty with reeling the hose back in. Can be a little irritating but it's tolerable.Sometimes ash will fall out of the end of the hose when reeling it back in. They provide a plug for this reason. You definitely don't want to suck up any ambers, the bag will burn up, trust me. This is the only vac I have used for my wood stove, therefore can't compare it to other vacs.

We loved it at first, but be warned the filtering systems is minimal (paper and that is it). No one should be able to sell and ash vacuum with a high efficiency filter. After two seasons of use there is a layer of very fine dust everywhere in our hose and spouse has developed respiratory problems never had before. Have since bought a second ash vacuum for half the price and filtering system is far superior. Not as pretty, but save your lungs and your house and don't buy the Cricket.

Bought this 4 years ago with our first fireplace. It looks nice by the fireplace, but the pro's end there. The hose can be time consuming to try to put back, some days it works well and some days not. There is nothing on the end of the hose to prevent it from vacuuming up small chunks of burnt wood that then get stuck in either the front end of back end of the hose. This means you have to stop, and try to work these out. This is very time consuming and aggravating. Its much simpler to use a duspan and broom to sweep the ashes out and place in a paper bag. Today, the motor burnt out. We haven't even gone through all of the bags that came with the Cricket when we purchased it. Save your money.

Cricket Vac does what it says, looks nice left on the hearth too! Easy to use and it filters the ash very well! Glad I own it and would highly recommend to others. I am into keeping particles out of my air,this is a huge improvement over the old shovel, broom & bucket routine. I have had a wood stove for 29 years now and this vac really helps maintain it. Buy one, you won't be sorry.

I don't know why anyone has trouble with the hose storage, I don't and I love the retractable cord. I hope this helps. I rarely do detailed reviews but felt compelled to because I didn't feel the reviews were very helpful.

Have a very nice active fireplace with the bush of a button on a remote controller! Very realistic flames and glowing, burning logs. The heat given off completes the effect.

The raised log basket looks good even when the "fire" is turned off. Because real burning logs in a fireplace are not in front of a vertical wall, the black rear panel was a concern. However, in the fireplace it blends with the blackened fire bricks and is not a distraction. Some brands have "mirrored" panels which are more noticable. Reviews of other manufacturers inserts complained about heater fan noise. The hum of the ClassicFlame fan is not noticable, it is almost like the sound of a real fire.

A very satisfactory electric fireplace insert. It is ready to plug in and enjoy right out of the box.

Purchased this for my sister who was tired of buying wood for her fireplace. Quality built and the flames are very realistic. Not recommended if you want to warm a big room, more suited for a small bedroom if you want to add warmth. This one was placed in a living room and everyone loves it!

I was tired of the 'dollar store' type brooms. I was purchasing one every few months because of the broom bristles falling out or either not being stiff enough to sweep thoroughly without having to go over the same area multiple times. I also need the dust pan to have a long handle, so I don't have to bend over or squat. This broom & dust pan set is perfect for me! It feels very sturdy, plus doesn't look bad either! In the past, I wouldn't have considered paying this much for a broom/pan set, but after the last 4 or 5 brooms/pans I've purchased (all different brands), I realized the quality just wasn't as good as they were in the past. In fact, the last one I owned, the dust pan handle broke in half with gentle use. If you're like me, and tired of cheap brooms/pans that don't last, give this one a try!

Works well and looks good. FYI, the handle of broom measures 33 inches. Add 4" to that

for brush-part ensemble and the total height (from floor to the top of brush handle) is 47"

The (brush) handle clips to the handle of the pan and has a loop for hanging.

The pan measures 37" (in open position, flat on floor measured to top of handle) It closes

automatically when carrying it. In open position, flat on floor, the pan locks into place.

The lock-feature allows one to use a full size broom, if that is preferred.

I found the swivel feature of the broom-head to be an annoyance. I remedied that by using

electrical tape to "lock" it in place... problem solved. All-in-all I like this product and

I'm glad that I purchased it.

Realistic flames and logs as far as electric fireplaces go; has fan that sends heat outward but can operate without fan. Quick warmup. I use it on my 100 sq foot glass side/roofed sunroom in winter (makes entire room toasty despite all the glass) and then got a second as supplemental heat source and ambiance for a 900 sq foot basement/entertainment room. Heats much better than the heater buried in my ceiling fan in the sunroom. Supposedly covers 400 sq feet but I think it does much better. No remote but that's one less thing to go wrong in my book. If you are sensitive to smells, note it has a moderate smell of newness burning at first but it lessens after about five uses. Lots of compliments and requests as to where I got it.

This is the second product of this type I have purchased in the last year or so. I originally wanted a unit for my 3-seasons room which has no built-in source of heat in the winter time. Unfortunately, the first unit a bought (not this make or model) sat low to the ground. Since my room is carpeted, I just wasn't comfortable with clearance between the heater and the floor. The fire hazard made me move that unit to my basement where I have bare floors. I saw this model and noticed it appeared to sit up higher than other units and sure enough it does! It is easy to operate and is very attractive. The only feature it doesn't have that I miss from the first unit I purchased is a built-in thermostat. This kicks out continuous heat at a level you choose. It has a high and low setting, and you can turn off the "flames" if you just want heat without the light show. Mine runs all the time on the low setting with medium heat intensity, and so far it seems pretty efficient since my electric bill hasn't significantly increased. Because of the lack of a thermostat, I give this product 4 stars. If you have plush carpeting, this unit is definitely worth your consideration.

I needed to replace an old wireless remote for my gas fireplace so I went to dealer where I purchased the product and had it installed. They were really no help in getting a replacement, so I went on line and found Amazon had a lot of choices. I was surprised at all the options Skytech offered and at a reasonable price. I actually improved the performance over my old wireless remote and installed the replacement remote in about 30 minutes.

Sadly, I was unable to use the product because it was damaged during shipping. I did get to look at it and it was nicely made and of great quality. I would still rate it with 5 stars because it was definitely the shipping company's fault since my son and I both witnessed the deliveryman drop the box on its side. It is just too bad that I couldn't have been shipped UPS instead of freight.

I can start a fire in my woodstove with one match everytime.

I heat my entire home with wood,so once it gets cold I build 1 or 2 fires a day...Every day.

I put two pieces of split wood on the bottom,angled a bit into a "V".I then place two chunks(4 to 6 chunks per bar) of the firestarter in the "V" made from the first two pieces of wood.I then place 2 or 3 smaller pieces across the V, then one larger piece on top...Now comes the kicker(and should not be done if your stove has a fancy ceramic catalytic converter) I give the V a squirt of charcoal lighter fluid....a little dab will do ya!

Throw in a match..WHOOSH! I leave the door cracked for a few minutes,then add wood and tighten it down for a long burn.

When you heat completely with wood you don't want to spend any time starting the fire...I'm a pro.

This is a good product.

Of course, good seasoned or dry wood is essential.

Works everytime.

This is one of those products that would probably get a 5-star review if there weren't other products on the market that are far better. I've always used StarterLogg's. One of the big box stores didn't have them and they assured me these Duraflames were the same thing they're not.

Starterlogg's have the consistency of pressboard mixed with wax. When you separate them they leave craggly surface that starts fire easily. Duraflames are closer to MDF much denser and smoother harder to start. They also have a wax paper wrapper which you're supposed to light. Every time I've tried this the paper just burns off and leaves a charred lump.

The only way I've found to use these is tear the wrapper off, break a brick into smaller pieces, scrape one end to try to get a rough surface area and light. Then after it's been burning for 3-4 mins take a fireplace poker and knock off the burning end to make kind of an "ember slurry". After that it will burn good, and start anything, but it's just more hassle than it needs to be when there are much better options for the same price.

By the way, if you dont mind the effort you can make your own just by mixing melted paraffin/candle wax with sawdust.

Napa Forge is an incorrect name. It's made in China, Wung Ho Welding Shop would be a more appropriate name as the manufacturer. Quality is OK. One leg is shorter than the other three. I had to put some cardboard underneath the leg to make it stand evenly. It's only about a quarter of an inch off, but still it's off. The appearance looks good on the hearth and it accentuates the wood stove. Very strong! I stack it with wood every day and it is holding up well. The tools are well made and are meant to be used. Too often fireplace tools are mere accent pieces. That's not the case with these, they are tough.

I spent almost a year looking for fireplace tools that I didn't hate, and we're more then my car payment! I have a contemporary looking house and didn't want brass or anything tacky. I love the weight of the tools and the fact that it can hold some wood as well. I have a great dane, that is a bit clumsy, OK a lot clumsy, and this holds up very well to tail hits and bangs! I looked at fireplace tools, but many nice looking ones were quite costly. When looking separately for a firewood rack, I came across this combo and am glad I did. For less than the cost of some tool sets, I got a sturdy clean lined wood rack which also has 4 tools. All I added was a bellows. This fireplace is very nice looking and provides extra heat in our living room. It was relatively easy to assemble, and took about half hour. The "blackwash" is not very noticeable, and it looks just flat black. I wish the fireplace had a compartment for the satellite and DVD player, as there would be plenty of room for it above the heater.

I was warned by a local pellet stove repair place to not use this pellet.

You will have to look closely but you will see that it is made of hardwood and conifer.

Conifer means pine which means sap, which means trouble for your stove.

The sap will foul up the blower or auger motor.
