The unit arrived in a timely fashion and was easy to assemble. I don't like the fact that it does not come with a basin or receptacle to catch the ashes or embers which fall out of the vent holes in the bottom of the bowl. I will use the firepit on a deck and had to go and purchase a metal bowl to catch the embers and avoid a fire hazzard. The design is not complete without a receptacle included for this purpose. Dissappointed I didn't know about this before I ordered it since it would have made a difference and probably would not have purchased it.

Great product. It arrived on time and was very easy to put together. I love the slate/tile rim. However, I wish it came with a bowl (or something) to collect the ash/particles that do fall through the holes in the firebowl. Although I have it on my brick patio and am not worried about it burning anything, I have need to add a foil pie plate when barbecuing hot dogs, etc. to catch any greasy particles that may fall through on to the brick and stain it. Other than that, it is a wonderful addition to my backyard.

In this video you will see how after a short time the tiles start to become loose and fall off. This possibly is because of winter, however we had a tarp over the firepit so that no snow got on it. Possibly the tiles can not withstand cold temps. It was fine when we stored it away in the fall. The company Blue Rhino has not been helpful replacing it. I have seen other reviews on Lowes as well as Amazon stating the same problems. Now you can see what your in store for when you watch my video.

Update: July 11 2013 Blue Rhino sent me a new tile ring. The tiles however are broke and then were set in place and grouted. They are not falling off they are just broken pieces set in the mortar. It does not look as nice as the original. When I went to install it I found that the design is now different. There are bolts built into the tiled ring and these bolts do not line up with the holes in the plates that are part of the legs....So Blue Rhino is now looking into this problem to see what can be done. The original tiled ring had plates welded to the bottom of it with pre threaded holes so that bolts would go through to attach it to the legs. More to come...............

Ferrellgas DBA Blue Rhino sent me 3 complete firepits and each one was damaged (had broken tiles). Since I was under warranty and they told me they have no more for replacement as it was not being made anymore so they offered my money back.

So overall after many pictures and emails and calls they did teat me fairly. But the hassle of a flawed product is not worth it.

I got this fire pit as a gift for my husband. He loved it!!

I was pleasantly surprised when the product arrived the day after I placed my order!! It was in perfect shape. Nothing came off during the shipping process.

It was very easy and fast to put together.

The firebowl looks great when you first put it together. It is sturdy, and is fairly heavy giving the impression that it is well made. Unfortunately after 2 months of use, the outside "stone" began to crack and break off in large chunks revealing that it is just a cheap covering on top of an aluminum base. The top grill area has rusted already (it is covered at all times unless it is being used), which significantly hurts its look. Even though I figured that it wouldn't put off enough heat to warm anyone up during a colder night, I'm surprised at how little firewood actually fits into this, how little heat it puts off and because of the small amount of wood it will take, how quickly you need to keep throwing more on.

The aesthetics certainly suck now that the "stone" has fallen off and the top is rusted, but I could really only see it being practical for spring and summer nights for townhouses and not for anyone with any land that could do even a small fire in a pit. Unfortunately the warranty/return policy was up very shortly after I bought it as a gift and I can't seem to find how to get the manufacturer to replace it with another one if this is simply defective.

Not as wide as we anticipated. The measurement must be the top of the shelf. We had to buy additional trim to make it look right. Also recommend using liquid nail & clamps to secure the sides because the L brackets doesn't pull it tight enough so it leaves gaps. The liquid nail made it look like one piece.

I've had modern design, glass door wood stoves on and off for 25 years and I've never encountered anything even remotely as good as this stuff for cleaning the soot and creosote off the glass. Even with oven or bar-b-que cleaner, you have to wait for it to dissolve the creosote from the glass, and the fumes are usually pretty nasty. This stuff, you spray it on, and by the time you can unroll some paper towels to wipe it off, the creosote is dissolved. With a little second pass with a Scotch brite sponge and you're good to go. Put a newspaper or something under the door, because this stuff is not foamy, it's liquid, and will drip. No big deal, throw the paper towels and the newspaper in the stove to start your next fire.

I wouldn't use this on a hot stove, but on a warm one, it's fine. It's so thin that it will just evaporate too quickly on a hot stove.

I don't think you want it on your skin, however, or your clothes. As benign as it seems, it has to be pretty caustic to do what it does. Rubber gloves maybe, if you have some.

I looked at every fake fireplace and settled on this one because of the size and the weight. We wheel it from the bedroom in the morning to the living room and back into the bedroom at night. We don't use the baseboard heaters at all anymore. It is easy to move around and heats up the room really quickly. The fire effect without the heat is really nice once the room is warm you can still enjoy the fire. I LOVE IT!

Fireplace Remote Reviews

Fireplace Remote
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
The receiver looks nothing like the picture shown in amazon's site. It has no light, it does require 110 VAC and has a short 4' cord. It has a 3 position switch you don't need to use after installation. The 3 positions are

OFF it does nothing

REMOTE the remote is active and works fine

ON it locks the fireplace on

NOTE: if you do NOT have 110 VAC inside your gas fireplace for accessories (blower, etc) then you should consider this unit SkyTech Millivolt On/Off Remote Control which has a battery operated RECEIVER inside the fireplace. Depending on use the batteries will last a year, if you want more use the energizer L91 lithium cells which can outdo alkaline 8 to 1 Energizer L91BP-8 Lithium AA Photo Battery (8-Pack) and you may be able to get 2-5 years. Those batteries have a shelf life of 10 years from purchase to begin with.

Back to this product for 110VAC equipped fireplaces (they both install similarly as explained below except the one linked to above has a fancier remote, needs batteries, has no AC cord, and it has a more complex remote with timer), besides the 110 VAC plug on this unit, there is 18 inches of antenna wire you just unroll and put behind the fireplace with the controller. There are also 2 ea red wires with "3-way" terminals crimped on the end, and are about 2' long. These go "underneath" your existing control switch if any at the milivolt gas valve or can be the only control. On my fireplace the trim has a small on/off switch that runs 2 wires down to the milivolt gas valve. I pulled off the connectors and put the red wires from the remote where the switch used to be, then on the 3rd terminal, I pushed the original switch connectors over them so that switch could still be used. When "ON" the red wires are shorted together just like the on/off switch does which completes the milivolt gas circuit and turns on the gas. When "OFF" the red wires are open circuit but the 3 way terminals allow the original milivolt thermostat or on/off switch to continue to function normally. I'll just mention that gas systems make their own power from the pilot light which is about 3/4 of a volt, hence the name milivolt. It is a fail-SAFE system since if the pilot goes out, the voltage is gone, and the gas valve can not be opened until a pilot is restored. Because the control voltage is so low, thermostats for furnaces with 24V controllers won't work and milivolt controls must make hard switch contacts so when shopping for gas controllers look for the words "milivolt compatible" and you're set.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Because my fireplace has a 110 VAC blower to circulate the air, the contractor installed a 110 VAC metal outlet box with 2 outlets, one was used for the blower, and one was unused which made this an exceptionally easy install. You will need 110 VAC from somewhere to operate this unit only the remote runs on batteries. In my master bedroom I have another gas fireplace without the blower due to the room size. It has no 110VAC so this could not be used on it. To help control it I bought a $30 2-AA cell powered setback thermostat from the hardware store that operates milivolt appliances and connected the "heat" circuit to the gas valve that is a battery powered solution, but not remote controlled. What worked great with it is that my bedroom starts warming up 2 hours before I must get up by the alarm clock and doesn't have a chill in the room when I get out of bed.

Now back to this product before installation, set it to "Remote" if you want it to work normally. It can be confusing if you set it to "on", because your fireplace will be stuck on! If you have access you can switch it "off" when on vacation to prevent accidental starting of your fireplace. You can also just shut off the gas which is the best way, then you can stuff the remote box out of sight.

The photo of the remote is more realistic to what I receieved in the box it has 2 buttons labeled on and off, and it operates from a single A23 12VDC battery Energizer A23 Battery, 12 Volt 2 Pack The A23 battery provides 12V by stacking a bunch of 1.5V button cells to make a battery so it's a small 12V and the nice part is for remote controls it transmits a long ways. On my house I can turn the fireplace on or off in any room of the house.

Finally this product operates in the 303 Mhz garage door opener band and has 65,000 possible combinations to prevent accidental operation of your neighbor's unit or vice versa. The last part included in the box is a special hangar to wall mount so you can hang up the remote. Amazon needs to correct their photo to match the product shipped, and clearly show the 4' long 110 VAC 2-prong plug so visual shoppers like me are not expecting an easy battery operated product. It was sheer luck that since I had a blower unit there was one extra outlet behind my fireplace trim. I bought this on amazon because the contractor quoted me $250 for a remote circuit and never followed up on it. It proved to be an easy DIY project that saved at least $200.

The Fireplace Remote was very easy to install and activate. It took a little over 3 mintues. The installation instructions were easy to read and follow. Very happy with the quality of the unit and the distance that the receiver operates is more than advertised in the manual! Very nice unit!

Keep in mind that you need 120V for the receiving unit. Although I installed my own electric to the fireplace which kept the unit hidden, the receiver came with a long electrical plug and connection wires which would possibly allow the receiver to be plugged into an electrical outlet close to the fireplace.

Best Deals for Fireplace Remote

Pros: This unit works great and was simple to install. The remote transmitter utilizes a Radio Frequency signal, instead of Infra Red, so the receiving unit can be hidden behind the lower grill on the gas fireplace. It came with a battery for the remote transmitter.

Cons: The remote transmitter uses an oddball and probably expensive-to-replace battery.

Honest reviews on Fireplace Remote

I purchased the "so called" battery operated fireplace remote expecting to get just that. Unfortunately, when the package arrived, the battery remote looked nothing like the picture in the description and required being plugged in to a 120 volt outlet to work. Needless to say, I immediately arranged to return the item to Smart Home.

On the positive side, the purchase, shipping speed, and return process were all handled expeditiously.

I replaced the battery operated remote that was 7 years old. I forgot to change out the batteries in the receiving unit in the fireplace and one of them leaked and ....

Easy to install as long as you have access to an outlet. Plugged the receiver in and it worked immediately with the remote from about 20 ft.

Received gift for my b-day. Could not wait to get home to set it up which I imediately did. Was the easiest A into Zs I have ever done.

Cleaned the glass, fueled it up with CO-Z FIRE ETHANOL fire place fuel and then set it on my large coffee table.

I poured a glass of wine, lit the fuel, adjusted the damper, turned off the lights to enjoy my new apartment sized fire place. AND wella, I was transported back in time, when fire places had a job to do in the home for warmth, cooking and comfort. I was imediately soothed, and all the tension and stress fell away.

I thought of my dinner parties where I could set the movable fireplace on my bar... the patio, where I eat, sit to relax and swing.... the bedroom............

the possibilities of placement is endless. I guess it can be transported out of the home to anothers.

This is not 5 star because the fuel is very expensive. You can save fuel by damper adjustment, but it still burns fairly quick.

Don't hesitate to purchase this as the pleasure you will have is endlessly worth it..

The odor from the fuel was minimal and not unpleasant to sensitive me.

We saw this in a museum shop in Pittsburgh (for about 25% more!). It is exquisite as a piece of art on our glass coffee table in our living room. Ours came with a funnel and says to fill it 2/3 (or maybe 3/4) full but there seems to be no markings on the fuel-holder thing so I've learned to use a full 8oz. measuring cupful and that works perfectly for us. It gives several hours of lovely ambiance and romantic atmosphere before we go in to dinner. I'm messy and spill a bit. Be sure to wipe up any excess spilled fuel before you light it (with a long match or a long lighter). Buy it. Or go to Pittsburgh and spend $20 or more additional.

And don't expect to fill it tonight and use it tomorrow as the fuel evaporates and it IS expensive.

Yes I was happy with my irradia tabletop fireplace. After the hurricane I realized I wanted small fireplace for my bedroom, I have one like this that's wall-mounted in my living room that kept me warm during the storm. It took some practice filling up the container with the fuel. I am now a precision pourer. I feel it is safe and throws just enough heat when the area is closed in

Honest reviews on Nu-Flame Irradia Tabletop Fireplace

Not exactly what I thought it would be but it's nice. They should think of adding a filler funnel with the item because you need it to put fuel in it. When you light it and only a small amount of fuel remain you get a woosh... of flame, must be from fumes in the trough. I recommend it with the above comments.

seems t blow out a little hea but nothing substantial. It makes more noise than it serves a purpose for in my opinion. It was difficult to install as well since the instructions were not real clear. It goes all the way in the back of the fireplace on the bottom and it blows air up the back of the firebox and it comes out the top by the hood. It only uses like 18watts when its energized so at least its not going to raise your electric bill too much. ,
