I am very pleased with this purchase. The item shipped promptly and arrived in perfect condition. It went together without a problem, although we had to leave the back off to allow for electrical cords. It is a well-made and sturdy piece of furniture, and looks really good in my living room. The glass doors fit well and the remote works through the glass. California summers don't require a fire, but I tried it out and am looking forward to watching the flicker and glow in the winter! I would definitely recommend this item, and after reviewing several other similar options, I feel this purchase was excellent value for money.

It took 2 guys 2 hours to put it together. Everything was fine except for the fireplace insert, a little piece of the metal was bent. Not bad enough to send back,though. I was able to fix it for the most part. Other than that, I love it.

I'm very pleased with this ash bucket. It's quality construction and a nice size. Although I build fires fairly frequently, I can go for a couple months without having to dump the ashes. I leave it outside on my back patio and it's heavy enough that it's never tipped over.

The metal is solid and the little shovel that comes with it works like a charm. It is a bit bigger than I had imagined; but that has proven to be a good thing, too. There isn't a lot of exciting stuff to write about an ash can. This one is well made and feels solid, and the lid fits snug and keeps my dogs' snouts out. No idea why they like to munch on charred wood, but thankfully now I don't have to clean that mess anymore. Having the shovel attached to the can is a nice plus.

My wife and I absolutely love the fireplace door and screen we purchased for the home we just moved in to. It is sturdy, doors open easily and shut completely, and everyone who comes to our home notices and compliments it. The only small hang up is that neither of the two mounting options quite fit our fireplace so I had to slightly modify the two brackets by drilling an additional hole in each. After reading several reviews stating the box labeled nickel in fact contained black doors, I ordered this product with some trepidation. Luckily, the doors ARE indeed nickel colored (although not a silvery brushed nickel as I had hoped).

I am very satisfied with these fireplace doors:

* Amazon PRIME shipping had the doors arriving at our home in three days.

* The packaging was excellent & protected the doors from transit damage.

* The doors were easy to install (without any help) because the instructions were clear & easy to follow.

* The holes IN the door handles were drilled slightly mis-aligned, but it was no big deal.

* I am VERY satisfied with the overall quality of these fireplace doors & can't wait to build our first fire.

Side note: I wish this company also offered fireplace tools as an accessory (in the same powder-coated nickel finish). I decided to have my brass tools and log-rack blasted & powder coated in a matching nickel color to make our fireplace really POP!

Buy Ceramic Honeycomb Catalytic Combustor (CC-251 / 1P346) for VERMONT

We bought a Condar replacement catalytic combustor in 2005 for our Vermont Castings Intrepid II wood stove. Previously we did not have good luck with a new replacement catalytic combustor (more on this later). Our stove was built in 1983, it was the first model catalytic Intrepid II built. The life of the catalytic combustor depends on how much air the stove gets during catalytic operation. If it has air leaks from seams, the combustor only lives a couple of years, not six as advertised. I got tired of taking the stove to the barn and chinking it with stove cement to seal it up. After it ran a while, the stove cement fell out anyway. Operating the stove this way shortened the life of the combustor and the stove burned more wood due to the increased air fed to the fire. Lately I decided to chink up the seams on the stove body with aluminum foil. .. This did not last very long and required a lot of maintenance. Improved chinking made from length of stainless steel wire wrapped in steel wool and this all wrapped loosely with aluminum foil has proved to be a durable and lasting stove seam sealant. The old 1983 Intrepid II runs a steady temperature (550 to 600 degrees surface temperature, has no leaks and runs longer than it did when it was new (better seal). Stove cement is useless as far as I am concerned. It crumbles after a while from heat and the stove body flexes as it heats and cools, which destroys the cement seal. The method I describe for chinking the seam does not fail. I finally had to change the combustor because it did not work well anymore after 8 years. The new one performs beautifully. Try this trick, you do not have to move the stove, nor do you have to cure the seal, or smell the stink of the stove cement drying when the stove is first lit. When you take the combustor out and clean it, handle it lightly, be careful when you blow a little air through the combustor to get rid of accumulated ash and it will last a long time. Eventually you will have to replace it, though. I use a small wooden tool I made to chink the wire, steel wool, foil seal into the seams of the stove. It looks like a large straight blade screw diver made out of wood. The blade is about 1 to 1.5 inches wide. This does the chinking job nicely.

The Canadian-built blower that we received is well constructed. The assembly came pre-wired and installed promptly. It is efficient. In testing with an infrared temp gun, we find that the heat now directed into the livingroom area is substantially higher. Heat dissipating into the mantle and walls surrounding the gas-log 39" Majestic fireplace went down substantially. This means the heat is going into the room instead of super-heating the wall around the fireplace. We feel safer, warmer and are able to use the gas-log fireplace efficiently. With an overhead fan in the room and a well-insulated home, on a sub-freezing night we can heat most of the house to 71-degrees F without the forced air furnace running. This enables us to enjoy the gas-log fireplace as a utility item and not just a cosmetic device. Some complain of the noise, but our unit came with sturdy attachment magnets that allow firm mounting. If set up squarely against the rear wall and floor as recommended, vibration and resonating noise can be minimized. We removed the original Velcro strips to fit the fan unit firmly against the sheet metal. If you get a unit like ours, with the motor pre-wired and magnet mounting, you should be happy. Yes, the unit does make noise, so expect to turn up the television volume! The blower models with adjustable speed might provide quieter operation at lower speeds. Our unit did not come with any instructions. It would be helpful to many if there were details included on how to position the blower unit.

I recieved a quote fron the original fireplace installer of $170.00 for blower.He said that was what majestic quoted him.I checked amazon and found it for $100.00 including shipping,I managed to install it myself and saved probably over $100.00.

I am very glad that I bought this blower. It works just like they said it would and has a little noise but not really that loud. I would not expect that it would be completely silent. It has the magnets on the back and sides which makes it easy to install. I also bought a Thermal Switch so it goes on when the fireplace it hot and goes off when it has cooled down so you don't waist any heat and don't have to worry about turning it on or off.

Athought this fan is an 8" fan it is larger than I thought it would be. The fan blades are 8" but the baffle is 10". The hole has to be just over 10" for it to fit. For some, making a 10" hole in your wall may put you off.

This fan is wonderful. It has a high and low volumn. The low moves plenty of air and it is very quite on low OR high.

It has aa attached power cord, however we were able to hard wire it to a power line within the wall so we don't have a cord hanging. With little electrical knowlege this is easy. Other than cutting the hole in the right place so as not to hit a stud, it was very easy to install.

We use it to move the hot air from a room with a wood stove to a large kitchen area. It makes a drastic difference in temperature after running for a short time. We used a coner door frame fan prior to installing this. The old fan made almost no difference in temp and it was very loud. Again, even on high this fan is very quiet and moves a lot of air.

I bought this to move warm air from our LR to the rest of the when the woodstove is going. It gets too hot in the room and this does help. It's not the perfect solution, but it was cheaper than putting another doorway in just yet. It does require cutting a hole in the wall (obviously) so if you're not handy, keep that in mind. It's much quieter than the doorway fan we have. I'd recommend it.

We purchased this fan about 5 months ago and its working fine. I needed to get extra ventilation into a utility room. This fan moves alot of air even on the low speed. Installation was easy enough, I completed the job in about 30 minutes. The fan is a little noisy though. This is not an issue in a utility room (about the sone noise of a mid priced bathroom exhaust fan) but if it was in a room that you want quite it may be a little bothersom. Keep in mind if you are venting into a closed room you may want to put a another vent (passive) in the room so that the air can circulate back out of the room. This fan is also larger in diameter that what it appears on line so I would recomend that you take the time to mark how much space this will use on your wall before ordering.

I bought this on May 8th 2012 for $59.96 including ship.

Our situation: We live in a double-wide mobile home with eight foot ceilings everywhere except the great room/living room--its cathedral ceiling is a couple feet taller. From the day we moved in we've hated that room and wondered how much it would cost to convert it to a lower ceiling.

NO NEED, PROBLEM SOLVED WITH THIS FAN!! The worst thing about a situation like ours (mobile home with silly cathedral ceilings) is not just the heat in the great room, but how all the other rooms have to be freezing in the summer just to make it breathable in the great room. (Plus the thermostat is located in the great room)

We tried everything over the years--sitting box fans in the cold parts of the house and trying to suck/blow the cool air over into the hot room--running the ceiling fan in the hot room constantly and not letting the hot air build up--or doing the opposite, not running the ceiling fan and just letting it build up and stay there. We tried various things, nothing with much success.

Last year we installed two additional register vents in the "great hot room" hoping that would not only add cool air to the room via the air conditioner, but maybe because of the additional registers blowing in the hot room, the registers in the cold rooms wouldn't blow quite so hard. It helped, but I still had to close off one of the registers in a bedroom as it continued to freeze the people in that room during air conditioning months. The extra vents helped, but the great room continued to be noticeably warmer than the rest of the house.

And this year I started thinking about a through the wall fan. After reading the reviews here on Amazon, and seeing most people were using the fan to get the heat from rooms with a wood burning stove to disperse to other parts of their house--I thought, I've got a wood burning stove in my ceiling, yessiree. And I want that heat out of there--and the room right next door is always freezing--so let's suck it out of the hot room and into the cold room!

I decided if I could "tell even a little bit of difference" I'd buy a second fan. We cut the hole in the wall, for the fan, a few inches down from the ceiling on the cold room's side, therefore it is about 20 inches or so down the wall on the side with the cathedral ceiling. We've had it for over a couple of weeks now, and I'm still feeling giddy. I walk back and forth between the two sides, grinning like an idiot. You'd think I invented something that was going to make me rich the way I brag about it to everyone! There is absolutely NO REASON to buy a second fan. For the first time in ten years, the house's temperature is balanced throughout!

This is a good product and has really helped to balance out the heat throughtout different rooms. However, it's a bit noiser than I'd like, but given the amount of air that it's moving, it's acceptable.

I read another review for this item that described it perfectly, yet I ordered it anyway since the tiny online photos looked so cool.

If you will always keep at least 15 feet away from this, it'll probably work for you. But any closer, and you'll see that it has terribly inconsistent welds, the screen may be bent and split in some places (like mine), and the "satin nickel finish" is actually silver spray paint. And I think they even ran out of paint, since there were a LOT of spotty areas.

Even at the low price, this is NOT worth it AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

I like the nice modern look of this screen, but there are a couple of blackish blemishes that are easily seen, as well as very obvious weld joints. Seems like they need to hire a new Quality Assurance person before they ship products.

Totally agree with other poor review. "Nickel Finish" is just silver paint; and it was not evenly applied. The welds are also sloppy. Looks fine from ten feet away.

Anyway, it did the job.... and at least the shipping was free.

I used this on ceramic gas logs that were heavily sooted in some areas and was mostly satisfied with the results. It took three cycles of heating the logs and then spraying on the cleaner. At first I turned on the fire for about 20 minutes then tried cleaning using both the spray and stream settings. I didn't notice any results and thought I had wasted my money. I rearranged the logs and turned on the fire for another 15 minutes or so and tried again. This time I saw it working as described on the bottle. I don't know how it works but the carbon vaporizes away. The MSDS says it's made out of a form of rubbing alcohol and manganese and is relatively safe. There wasn't any toxic smell. I repeated the process one more time, again rearranging the logs so all the surfaces were very hot and portions were glowing red. I used up the entire bottle and probably removed about two-thirds of all the soot. I paid under $11 for the bottle and should have gotten 1 or 2 more since the shipping was a fixed amount.

I ordered this product because what I previously used to remove soot from my gas fire logs didn't work. I wanted to try something else, but all our local stores carried the old product. Much to my surprise, when I opened my order for 2 Woodeze bottles....the carrier sent the worng product! Very bummed!

The fireplace screen pictured online shows very defined decorative scrollwork. This actual feature is on the backside of the frame with a dark screen overlaid in front of it. This almost hides all of the design, especially when placed in front of my fireplace with a surround of black granite. I would return the screen but it is very large and heavy and I don't want to pay for the postage involved. Guess I'll have to learn to live with it even though it is not what I expected.
