So Ive had the fan for several years and its been a great fan, I love that I never have to turn it on or off, just automatically comes on when it gets hot enough. I bought mine on Amazon at least 3 years ago, and recently my fan hasn't been working that great, its been spinning very slow or not at all. I finally looked into it and most people said you have to buy a new thermoelectric module also known as TEG, this is the thing that actually creates the electricity from heat, I found these for $20-33, but then did a little more research and found out that there is a very easy fix for it. If your fan is spinning slow or not at all, maybe from age or overheating it try this out... Unscrew the 2 main screws holding the unit together, this will split the fan in half, there is the thermoelectric module sandwiched in between the top and bottom half, scrape off the silver colored heat sink compound on one side of the thermoelectric module then put some CPU heat sink compound on it and put it back together. This CPU compound can be purchased at most computer stores. I did not have the CPU heat sink compound, so I researched and found that silicone grease would work just fine, so I used dielectric grease (which is silicone based) and it worked great!!! Very quick and easy fix and didnt cost me a penny! My Fan is now spinning really fast again just like it did when it was new, saved myself $33 on not having to buy a new thermoelectric module! I'd seen some reviews that said that the fan did not work unless it was in a specific spot on your wood burner. Once my stove got a good fire going, the fan started spinning and I could move it to ANY spot on my stove top and it kept going. You can definitely feel the difference in the heat distribution in the room. I used to turn on an electric fan that had a timer so it would turn off later after the fire went down, but NOW with this fan I can just forget about it. It turns on by itself and turns off when there is no more heat to dissipate.

This would be perfectl for a regular free standing stove, it would be worth the money to have one on each side of the flue! I can't believe how much air it pushes and it's completely silent. We have a fan on the insert that rattles and clangs so badly that we have to turn the tv up twice the normal volume to drown it out. This little fan sits on top of our insert off to the side where it can pull cooler air into the fins and even when it is running top speed it is completely silent. It's really easy to tell how hot the fire is by how fast the blade is turning too, helps to prevent overfiring and also lets you know when it's time to throw another log on if you're trying to idle the fire along slowly. Wonderful product! I would really like for them to make one that's for fireplace inserts tho, a short squat little guy that will sit under the mantle and pull all the heat off the top of the insert and push it out into the room.

Cheap Landmann Firewood Log Rack

I ordered two of these racks about two months ago. They were pretty nice with the Landman logo screened on the end rails and on the cover. The rails were a nice quality black finish. This prompted me to order two more and took delivery on them about three weeks ago. Totally different rack. The bottom rails were rusting through the incredibly thin, flat finish, no logo on the rails or the covers. The covers were a poorer grade than the first two I received to the point that one of them ripped up the side while covering the rack, using no force whatsoever. You can tell the difference in the materials just buy looking and feeling them. I would have said to buy these two months ago but now I say to buy American. These are not worth the money any longer.

Despite Lowes' website's claim of having this product available by the end of October, it did not come to pass and the local store informed me that is was on backorder from the manufacturer until December! I came here, found this, ordered it and before the week was out, we received it. Nothing fancy but sturdy (on concrete) and I was happy. At least until recently when we had some strong winds come through the area. I reckon the colder temperatures made the plastic cover brittle because that thing was ripped and shredded afterwards.

If you're considering this product, do NOT think that the inclusion of a cover is the deal maker as a plastic garbage bag would outlast the crappy cover.

Best Deals for Landmann Firewood Log Rack

If you are looking for an inexpensive fire-wood-stacking solution, this is it. The rack is made up of hollow metal tubes, screwed together. The height off of the ground is very good, though the only contact with the ground is 6 small feet (see picture). So, if you intend on putting this on ANYTHING other than a concrete slab, you will need to set this on wide bricks or pressure treated wood to keep it stable. I found that out pretty quickly when one rack tipped over because the feet sunk unevenly into the ground that I had it on. Luckily, I was not nearby when it happened. Take the extra time and make sure that your footing is secure, and this rack should last you a few seasons without problem.

We live in the North East and our old log rack cover only had Velcro closures. The wind and snow always got under the cover and blew it around a lot. Also, the material was a much thinner plastic. The previous one lasted only two seasons as the ice got the best of it and ripped the top part.

WE LOOKED AT SOMETHING MORE DURABLE. After 2 months owning the Landmann Heavy Durty Log Rack Cover, it really lives up to our expectations. We give it five stars because

It provides easy access to the wood via three sturdy zippers

The material is thick

We don't think it will rip

It makes our log rack look need and tidy

It stays in place: we just had a big rain storm and it hardly moved our wood is dry

We expect it to last for a many seasons

A great price for the value

I have to agree, that it did not immediate cover all the wood when we ordered our 1/2 cord, but we didn't mind one row later it fit nicely. We tie the bottom Velcro strips around the legs of the log cover to give it extra support.

P.S. Winter 2011/2012

The first one held up so well in that really harsh winter of 2010/2011 that we decided to buy another one (it's black again but now has the logo "Landman" stamped on it see comments). We also bought another 8'x8' firewood rack which included a cover however, that particular cover is NOT of THIS quality, it's simply flimsy plastic and didn't last a month. Hence we bought this one again. We have now replaced covers for all of our three log racks with this heavy duty cover and have no qualms about it!

Price was right. Arrived prior to their estimate. Easy to put together. The only problem is after having up for one week and getting a little snow, I wiped the top off with my hand to clear the snow and found an 8 inch rip. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. However, I made a call to the customer service number (that took a couple time because nobody picked up for the "customer service" prompt). A nice lady by the name of Nancy listened to my complaint and, much to my surprise, said "I'm sorry you've having a problem". She went on to say that I was not the first customer to call about the flimsy material on the cover. She immediately offered to send me a new cover at no charge. She also mentioned that should I desire, I can purchase an upgraded canvas cover, normally 49.95 for 19.95. I would think that if the company knew there was a problem with the cover material that they would automatically upgrade the cover material. I think we'd all pay a little more for a quality product. I'm awaiting the cover to get here will probably be a while since we just got over 36 inches of snow. While I know the new cover will also at some point rip, I believe that this company cares about its customers. Nancy's prompt concern and attention tells me that.

Now if the snow would melt a little I could get to my firewood and have a fire!!!!

If they upgrade the cover, I would highly recommend this product.

This is a nice looking fireplace. There was a problem with the shipping, which JM Prime was on top of it to help resolve the issue. They have been great during this process. A few weeks after ordering, we finally go the fireplace. After setting it up, the fireplace looks nice, however there is one big discrepancy. The dimensions on this website is off. I may not have bought the fireplace knowing this. The actual dimensions is approximately 39 3/4"x 39 3/4" x 11". I was really anticipating the 16" depth and approximately the additional 4" in height.

Nice quality, cool to look at in a living room setting. But, TOO BIG! Almost can't get the steam to come out of the train as shown in the picture. I've tried everything -putting marbles in the water, etc. If you have a smaller woddstove, get a smaller steamer. Otherwise, all you're steaming up is the inside of the unit.

If this piece of furniture was built out of solid wood instead of particle board, I would have given it five stars. The big problem with the particle board here is, if you scratch the black paint coating, you instantly see the white board underneath. So, if you move often or have pets with claws, have some black paint on-hand.

Besides that, the thick, heavy duty smoked glass shelving and glass-ember fireplace insert are outstanding. Truly adds a new level of comfort to my basement's home theater. And this is the *only* electronic fireplace console I could find that was able to hold my Integra DTR 8.9 which fits perfectly in the lower shelving.

First off it doesn't come with instructions, the Venturi valve is separate and requires yet another fitting to attach it in the right position. The venturi valve is not pictured and it adds another 6 inches to the middle section if used as they intended. The rest of the hose is run of the mill bbq hose found for $10 at your local hardware.

Yes this "install kit" saves some headache, but you can DIY for under half of what they are charging.

You might add easy access to when to use or not a ventura(sp)? But after experimenting a couple of times I figured out the best way to do what I was doing. Service was great and am going to order more for the holidays. Amazon was easy to deal with.

I bought this fireplace back in April and had it installed. This thing puts out some serious heat! It will really warm up any room you put it in fast. The quality is top notch. There's a panel on the back that contains the valve for propane or natural gas. It seems to be set up for propane because mine was hooked up to natural gas and it wouldn't work until I found that valve under the panel on the back of the fireplace and set it to natural gas. You have to take the front cover off and install the logs but that's easy. I went ahead and bought the optional blower and installed it in the fireplace and that may be overkill because it puts out so much heat. I always wanted a fireplace in my front room and now I have one!

Really a great tool for the price.

The wheels aren't the best, but better than most Chinese stuff.

You can get replacement wheels from Dorian or other "premium" brands for a fair price and then yoou have a superb tool for the hobbyist.

If you're knurling hard steel on a small lathe that can't take the pressure on the headstock, get a "Scissor" knurler instead. Costs more but doesn't beat up yoour machine and destroy your bearings.

This humidifies quite well far better than the tea kettle we were using. At two quarts, capacity, an overnight stoke of the fire will about empty it. Wish it was about one half quart larger. It steamed off almost to the bottom once, due to my forgetting to keep tabs on it, and got so hot the enamel on the interior bottom blew off with a pop. No real damage, since that will always remain under water. It is also difficult to see how full it is when topping off, so keep a hot pad around, and don't drop the ceramic cover.
