We have been looking for a good tool set for our wood stove for quite some time now. My husband went to a wood stove store and these were priced MUCH higher! They are WELL made all one piece and hand forged. The broom is not made out of plastic as many fire tool sets are and won't MELT on you. the tools are constructed from square stock with curled loop tops. Tools included are brush, tongs, poker and shovel. 32" stand so the tools are around 27" long. This can be important if you have a top load wood stove as we do... Country of origin is a factor. We had ordered another set that appeared to be from Poland, only Amazon never got that one to us, so i ordered this one made by the same company. Never assume that because it is the same company that it is made in the same place. Our concern with getting a wood stove set from China is the metals used, and the paint. It will come in contact with the hot coals etc, and would release any toxins if there are any. With the track record of products from China and toxins, we just did not want to take that chance. So after a round or two with Amazon about the other set not being available (i ordered ahead of time in early Sept), I settled on these..... they are very nicely made however they are from China. It is very disapointing after all the research to avoid a product from China and months of fighting with Amazon, we ended up with one anyway! All that being said, the set is very sturdy and nice looking and so far we really are happy with it (the broom isn't as well made as i had hoped however). One of the tags on this product is made in the usa it isn't!

UPDATE: i measured the tools the broom is around 26 inches, the poker and tongs are 27" and the shovel is almost 27 1/2 " (i hope these measurements are appreciated as i forgot the shovel was HOT~!)

EDIT: The broom is not of very good quality. If you use it the bristles break and fall out all over the floor which defeats the purpose of cleaning up also there is a place on the broom handle where the finish is chipping off. I still think it deserves 4 stars though so not changing the rating :-)

Another update!! Oct 5, 2011 We had a cool night and went to use our tools and the shovel is completely rusted on the shovel end. I was really shocked we have had a very humid summer, but am surprised to see how rusted it is. We are going to steal wool it to see what that does.

Panacea Products 15331 Fireplace Hearth Leather Gloves - Quantity 6 Review

These are cheap gloves. They got several burn holes after a couple weeks of medium use but nothing that a little duct tape couldn't temporarily cure. I'm still using the gloves after a couple of years but only because I kept repairing with more duct tape they're actually more tape than leather or insulate now. I should have bought new ones long ago and probably could buy a better pair for the amount of tape I've used to repair these but I guess I don't think about that when I'm stoking the fire. I wouldn't recommend these gloves nor buy them again, but I've used them for a couple of years so they got 2 stars instead of one.

The Gloves were poor quality. Holes burned through the finger tips within 2 weeks of use. Other simular gloves would last 1 2 years.

The first time I used these gloves I felt the heat of a log burn my hand. I already have "fireproof" gloves that I've used over and over to pick up burning logs and they have always protected my hands. These are garbage, and they don't do what they claim to do.

These reasonably priced hearth gloves are comfortable and effective. They are long enough to protect your arms and I can reach all the way into my wood stove without fear of burns.

I looked and looked to get a quality set under a $100. Unfortunately they just really can't be found. I've had many a set through the years of renting homes and I was just tired of the cheap stands that fall over if you lightly push on them or god forbid you take a tool off the rack. Then there was the precarious balance act of hanging the tools just right without disturbing the rest. This Uniflame 5-Piece Olde World Iron Finish Toolset puts my prior sets to shame. While the stand is 4 pieces attached at 2 points with 4 screws at each point (seems cheap), it is 32" tall, ridiculously heavy and secure. The base at the widest point is approximately 15" across with each point approximately 10" from the next. It will take a lot of force to accidentally tip this set. I love the way the tools just hang from a hook. So easy to remove and replace. There is some swing to them if touched, but it would take a decent amount force to knock one off. This is great if one has little kids or grand-kids. Then there are the 30" tools themselves. They each have a solid weight to them. The shovel and poker are very sturdy. The tongs are nice in that on one side there is one prong, and on the other 2 adding to greater stability in movement of burning wood. My only complaint on the tongs is that there is very little (if any) resistance needed to operate them and I fear they may accidentally swing open with a knock into them. I tested that theory right now and it would seem that gravity tends to try keep it closed. The straw broom just adds that little rustic touch to the whole set. Just note that this set is "iron enamel like finish". Some of the finish was chipped or scratched in transit, but it is barely noticeable. Being the set is nearly black and will be used with soot, I'm not worried about it at all. From a distance it add just the right amount of functional ambiance to our fireplace. Now I just need it to get colder out so I can put it to good use for hopefully years to come.

This fireplace toolset is exactly what we wanted. Heavy weight (iron), has useful tools and is nice to look at.

First off it doesn't come with instructions, the Venturi valve is separate and requires yet another fitting to attach it in the right position. The venturi valve is not pictured and it adds another 6 inches to the middle section if used as they intended. The rest of the hose is run of the mill bbq hose found for $10 at your local hardware.

Yes this "install kit" saves some headache, but you can DIY for under half of what they are charging.

You might add easy access to when to use or not a ventura(sp)? But after experimenting a couple of times I figured out the best way to do what I was doing. Service was great and am going to order more for the holidays. Amazon was easy to deal with.

This set is definitely sturdy and is nice looking for afar. Up close the pewter color is not totally uniform. However, not so much so that it bothers me so much to return it. It definiely made my hearth look more modern and the style is great. All in all, it's a good set to have.

This is a review of 5 stars to help offset the 1 star review by the fool who used it for something for which it's not intended. Yes, I also called Rutland and they said it can be used on the inside of a brick fireplace, but if it comes in contact with direct flame it will probably blister and peel. Nowhere on the can does it say it can be used for that purpose.

Used to paint the chimney pipe coming out the back of my stove so it would match the stove. Took a few coates, but worked fine and made everything look much better than a black stove and shiny galvanized piping.

I used this stove paint to paint the bricks inside of my fireplace. It worked out really well but be prepared for the mess of a typical paint job. It is a deep black paint and thin just like regular paint so you will have the drips etc. If you are using it for a brick job then I would also recommend buying a spray can for the same type of heat job to get all of the cracks and areas missed by a paintbrush. At the end of my project it looked perfect though so i would definitely recommend it for a fireplace job.

The only reason I gave this one star was because zero stars wasn't one of the choices. I spent an hour looking for this product, but when I purchased and opened the can, found that the viscosity and opacity of this paint most closely resembled dirty dishwasher. Even after stirring thoroughly, it was virtually impossible to tell where I has painted. I put the lid back on the can and immediately threw into the trash. In a lifetime of remodeling and building, never have I seen a poorer product.

I love absolutely everything I've bought from House of Silk Flowers! This vanilla grass looked so good everywhere I placed it that I had to later buy another. Purchased Ethanol fireplace from Unbeatable sales. UPS lost the package.

Tracey from Unbeatable sales was on top of the situation from start to finish, and my replacement fireplace came as quickly as possible. Can't say enough nice things about Tracey or Unbeatable!!!

I was a bit nervous spending 700 dollars on an ethanol fireplace, even though the price was the best I had seen, as never used this type of product before.

Opened the box, followed the easy setup instructions(using the picture on the box as well) poured in the fuel(two bottles of 91 percent rubbing alcohol from med cabinet) and was reading a paper by the fire within 30 minutes. Saved 1,000's on installation of regular fireplace, and this thing looks great.

Had to turn down my home thermostat as it throws a wonderful amount of heat.
