I was very excited to find an alternative to burning logs or converting to gas logs. This is relatively easy to install. And it's not a permanent change. This set of logs is easy to pull out if we decide to do something different later. And the price for the logs is really good, compared a set of vent free gas logs.

I wish the instruction had said to install log #2 before log #1 (the small logs on top), as the logs don't fit exactly as they do in the picture. Maybe it's just my set, but try keeping the screws a little loose until you've got the logs all on and then tightening them up a little--but not too tight.

If you get really close to the logs and look into it you can see a little bit of the can. But sitting in the room five feet away they are not visible.

It appears that regardless of which site you buy this set, or the fuel from it ships from the manufacturer.

The places where the fuel cans go are square and a bit bigger than the cans, so if you're looking at using another brand of gel fuel you don't have to worry too much about an exact fit--you've got a little room to work with.

I think this is a great set for the price--if you're using them as the description states. That is, to convert an existing fireplace. If you're looking for something for a fire bowl they do make those, but this is not the right set.

Just as it states. Good flame lasts well over 3 hours. Looks great in the fireplace to set the mood for whatever you need. Better than having an unused fireplace, or making a huge mess!

Best Deals for Real Flame 18" Convert-to-Gel Log Set

I have had my gel firelogs for over a year now. I just pop in two cans of fuel gel and enjoy 3 hours of flames and it looks great. I do open the flu just a bit. Even when they aren't burning, the logs look nice. It is such a great product and so easy to use.

Honest reviews on Real Flame 18" Convert-to-Gel Log Set

How come "nature lovers" think it's cool to burn wood? Well when I found out how much harm I was doing to myself with indoor air pollution from my fireplace, and how cheap it was to convert, this was a no-brainer. I had the chimney swept, I ordered one of these, and Real Flame gel and away the smoke went forever. So if somebody gets snotty with you, just make a face and say "I don't allow smoking in the house."

The insert replaces the cradle for the wood logs in your fireplace, and may be used with the flue closed and the doors closed as long as you leave the openings at the bottom of the doors open so it can get some air. It lasts about and two hours in my experience. And it puts out some nice heat. Not a blast furnace, but you can feel it. Get some cans to burn in addition if you want extra heat. Any ex-wood fireplace should have room for you to burn some cans as well as these at the same time. At least mine does.

By the way, they've cleverly made the gel in such a way that it crackles like a real fire too!

Works perfectly and in some cases BETTER then gas. Alot less expensive option and with the gel cans it even sounds like the real thing. Would reccomend.

I purchased this this Stainless Steel Flue Stretcher because I had a new outdoor fireplace on my covered patio built that had a "smoking" problem due to it's location in relation to the rest of my house. I had a very short cap from the same company installed just to keep rain out, but it did nothing for the smoking problem. When I studied the problem a bit on a chilly evening I noticed that smoke was literally collecting around the short cap, not really drawing much at all. The airstream over my house seems to be a bit higher and seemed to create an area of low pressure of sorts below where the cap was located. I ordered this cap to try and push the exhaust from the fireplace into the airstream over the top of the house. I can tell you it is a very well made piece of hardware, very sturdy built, good materials and it's fairly easy to install. I would recommend that you use 100% silicone sealant (I used GE brand) very heavy and neatly around the base. I suspect over time and wind gusts the mounting screws of this unit could loosen and it might get blown off, the silicone will prevent it from moving even if the screws loosen. This is my solution, you can determine your own. By the way, the silicone on the outside is not subjected to any heat, I tested this, after the fireplace had been going for a few hours the outside of the flue stretch near the base was just lukewarm and so was the silicone. One last thing, I guess I did not mention that indeed the flue stetcher solved about 90% of my "smoking" issues, the other 9% or so I resolved with a "Grate Wall of Fire" fire grate which forced the heat right up the back of the fireplace and up the chimney almost creating a suction. I will never get 100% for an outdoor fireplace, but I think it's pretty good now. Finally, for those with a similar problem as mine, I would recommend this product, with the caveats I mentioned above.

Purchased at a reasonable price, with free delivery. Arrived in a couple of days. The delivery box was about 50 pounds, with no damages to the box or the unit. Easy set up! Just remove it from the box and plug it in.

Looks great, provides a little bit of warmth. But with only two settings low and medium you can't expect a blasting furnace. The remote listed in the description was not in the box, nor did the manual state any thing about a remote. Called Amazon to inquire about the remote and they weren't sure where it was. Suggested I contact the manufacture. I haven't done that yet, but there is a button at the bottom that turns the unit on and off. Setting controls are on the top. Once you have it set you can just use the bottom button to turn the unit on or off. Like I said, it doesn't generate that much heat, so you don't need to constantly make adjustments to the temp settings.

Overall a good product. Having the remote woould have made it great!

Bent iron grate fell apart, old-timer next door said to get a cast-iron grate. Glad I did, this grate holds a bed of coals, old bent iron grate it just fell through. Much hotter fire, more complete combustion, no sleepers left over. Neighbor said this will last forever!

For the past 3 years, we've been using a terribly inefficient grate in our fireplace. We achieved the ambiance of a fire but no real benefit in the past. It was a basic looking grate, no ember retainer. I can't say enough good things about this new grate! The old one didn't retain any embers/coals, all the logs rolled off it, it was so frustrating to use.

We have looked many times for a nice cast-iron grate, even locally on CL for a used one... but we are very happy with this purchase. This grate is very solid and it's the real deal. We could not find any price better then this one for something comparable. Heck, you'd pay more at a big box store for the chincey grate w/ember retainer that melts within a season's use.

The main selling point of this grate is that from the 1st fire we made, it was effortless and using the same amount of wood as with the other gratethis one gives off a much bigger/hotter fire. We usually just use 3 logs, plus whatever we start the fire with, and with this grate 3 logs heats our family room up unlike the other grate where we'd barely notice heat coming out of the fireplace. There is also a significant difference in the amount of smoke that's coming into the house (with the old grate smoke just circulated all around the fireplace and would inevitebly come out into our home, this grate provides the correct airflow to have the smoke going UP the chimney like it should) ***and yes, I know that the wood you're burning affects the amount of smoke, so my opinion is with that taken into consideration because we have been using only well seasoned pure oak. I really do think this grate make a difference.

I would buy this grate again and again, but thankfully I wont have to!

Good build quality for the money, design seems to hold coals well, allowing them to burn longer and more completely

Honest reviews on Panacea Products Corp 27' Blk Cast Iron Grate 15427 Fireplace

This grate failed within 2 months of use....a 3" x 10" long section of grating broke off due to heat failure. Kind of ironic since it's a fireplace grate....you'd think it should be able to stand up to high heat. At first glance it seems well built......but in use it failed miserably. I guess if you don't plan on building fires it's fine.

And to top it off, the seller refused a refund request since it's beyond the 30 day window. THUMBS DOWN to both the manufacturer & the seller, Promax Commerce.

Each candle tray has a spike sticking up to hold a wax candle -I cut them off using a tool from my husband's tool box so I could place my flameless candles on there. A bit of the finish came off but that's hidden under the candles.

I've been needing something to fill the fireplace void during the off-season. The product fits perfect, looks nice, and seems like it will hold up for a while.

Best Deals for 9-Candle Metal Candelabra

At first I thought this would be too flimsy. Once I got the candles on it, it seemed very stable and the simple design works well. It turned the black hole of our fireplace into a brighter focal point even when the candles aren't burning. The only drawback is that it has little spikes for the candles which means you can't use flameless candles.

Honest reviews on 9-Candle Metal Candelabra

very high quality candelabra. little spikes to hold the candles in place. actually, the candles we purchased to go with this had holes already waiting for the spikes to go into. packaging was impressive--no way this was going to be damaged on shipping.

The good: The seller got the fireplace to me super fast! On the third day after I ordered it, it was at my house. The "slate" is pretty, even if it is *slightly* crooked on the pieces that it is pre-adhered to.

The not-so-good: It took about 3 1/2 to 4 hours for me to put this together by myself and was a pain in the butt to put together... the directions were great, but there were issues with trying to get the base on while not being able to see the screws... among a few other little annoyances.

The bad: It looks really cheap... based on the quality, this shouldn't cost $500... it should be in the $300 range. There are gaps between each of the "slate" tiles that cause you to be able to see the plain surface below. There is also a gap between the top of the fire box and the top row of "slate" that looks awful, I'll probably get some type of fire-safe material to try to hide that so the wall behind the fire place isn't visible through the gap. Also, the "log" looks terrible... I am going to buy a different log kit for it.

The ouch: My hands are super sore from screwing it together because there were a lot of areas that were not pre-drilled even though the directions said it should be.

Bottom line: If I had it to do over again, I would not have purchased this fireplace. I would have purchased the other one I liked that was 1/2 the price, but didn't have as much decoration. I plan to keep it since I worked so hard to put it together and I don't feel like paying to return it... but am definitely not satisfied with the quality for the price.

House of Silk Flowers Artificial Coleus Leaf Ledge, Mini Reviews

Received in 3 business days. The packaging was sturdy. It protected the intregity of the plant. It needed little fluff before displaying. The color variations of the plant look so authentic. The planter is unique and it compliments the plant, making it even more beautiful. You would not be disappointed if you puchased this plant. I am so happy with all of my purchases from the House of Silk Flowers that I have already seen other plants of theirs that I will purchase in the near future.

Over the last two and a half years I have now bought four plants from House of silk via Amazon. All have arrived in perfect condition and look great. I have been extremely impressed by the realness. They just don't have that typical cheap fake look to them. Of course, cheap they are not. You can find artificial plants out there cheaper but you will you get what you pay for and you will be disappointed. House of Silk goes the extra mile in packaging them by double boxing them for shipping.

Best Deals for House of Silk Flowers Artificial Coleus Leaf Ledge, Mini

The plant is great, but three leaves were broken off in transit. They can probably be fixed with a glue gun, and not be noticed because there are so many leaves, but this will be a hassle for me since I have no idea where my glue gun is and have never used one before. They secure the plant to the bottom of the box somehow, so it can't slide around inside, which is a good idea; however, the plant still suffered minor damage.

Very solid construction. The bolts fit tightly and you can really crank them on. The only problem I had was that I didn't follow the instructions and tried to really tightened the hooks for the tools. I stripped one of the hooks but Pilgrim replaced the part for free.

Ponied up the dough for this pricier hearth organizer and I'm not disappointed in the quality. Both the unit itself and the included tools are nice powder coated steel, with no rough edges or sharp points, and STURDY. The unit is a perfect fit next to my fireplace, with relatively sleek lines that fit into most any decor. The hooks for the tools seemed small at first but nothing has unintentionally fallen off the hook so they do in fact function well without being obtrusive.

The unit was easy to assemble and I love the two levels of storage logs below and kindling above so you don't have to dig through a heavy pile of logs just to get to the smaller pieces. The only feature I wish it had was another hook or little box for lighter/matches.

I am still embarrassed that we spent what we did on this. However, it is quite sturdy and looks nice. The holes were a bit misaligned for putting together. So it took a little extra effort to get the screws in. Despite that, it was still relatively easy to put together.
