Let me explain a bit here about how I will review this because I just received it today.

My family is hard on fireplace bellows. We use them daily during the heating season. I have gotten to where I can predict how long a bellows will last and unfortunately this year they have not lasted as long as I had predicted they would. That does NOT appear to be the case with this one. I have used bellows to light our fires since the mid 1980's. A good long lasting bellows is hard to find locally.

I also would like to say that this IS NOT MY FAVORITE TYPE of bellows. My favorite is the hand crank type. The good quality hand crank ones cannot be found even on the net because they have been replaced by very cheap imports that do well to last me a month. Before the hand crank type I did use this type of bellows that I am now reviewing. I have had bad luck with this kind too. Some companies only build them for their looks and those kind's don't last me long either.

So now I hope you understand why I felt I must review this today the first day I received it. It's because I think I can do it and be accurate too. If it does not meet my expectations I will immediately come back to this review where I will edit it, add an update, and downgrade it. If it exceeds my expectations I will happily report that in a later up date.

The first thing I noticed right out of the box is that this has a better quality leather than all of this type of bellows I have bought in the past. I was expecting a low quality leather. I intend to extend the life of this by using any leather product that helps it be more flexible. If any of my readers here would like to tell me about your favorite leather cleaning or softening product please tell me about it in the comment section.

Another problem I have had with this type is with the tips where the air shoots put. All of them in the past have used a very thin metal or even plastic. When using a bellows I like to be able to brace them against the stove door. This makes the air shoot straight on to my target. When it's not braced the action of pumping sends my jet of air all over the place. I am happy to report that the metal tip of this bellows was far thicker and far better quality than I was expecting.

One more thing that I was impressed with that others may find extremely silly is the leather string that runs between the handles. This one was better than I expected. This part has a important function that most folks don't realize. When installed correctly between the handles it prevents the user from extending the bellows too far open. If you repeatedly open them up father than they should you reduce the life of the whole unit because it stresses the leather. Most folks think it is used to hang the unit up when you are done with it.

I was also impressed by it's price. It was not the lowest priced on Amazon but it certainly is not the highest. Other websites charge in the $100 range for these. I even once saw a $200 one. Let me warn you folks. With this type of bellows high price does not mean high quality. I think many people must buy these for looks alone and not to use. I paid less than $20 for this but I will bet it will outlast a $200 one.

I apologize for this long review. I'm just happy that I have found a bellows that is far better quality than I expected and to be quite honest I have not owned I good quality bellows of this type for many years.

One last thing. It's heavier than I expected but in that case it's good because the heaviness is from better construction. This unit should last me a long time.

Pro:

It does not take very long to get the fire started back up from embers, only about 5 blows which is the same as the one I had to replace. It fits well mounted on the wall with the string attached. It is a very good size of 15 inches, which isnt too big and bulky, not is it too small to be efficient. This was also the cheapest on amazon prime, and for the price, it was probably the best buy. The only difference between this one and a more expensive one would be aesthetics.

Con:

There isnt much negative to say about this product. What I didn't like was the shape, it seemed a little too long with the front nozzel. It just looks awkward, but it will not be on display at the fireplace. It arrived dusty. The first few blows from it sprayed out some sort of dust which was not expected.

overall I would recommend this as the cheapest option and cannot complain.

The Pleasant Hearth Bellow Hardwood Fireplace, 15-Inch works well for our wood stove. We have used it to get a new fire going, and we have used it to fire up a somewhat lagging fire, to build up the heat, and/or getting added wood to burn. It has solid construction and the tip is solid enough that there is not danger of heat damage. For people with large hands it might take a little focus not to pinch their fingers. I definitely am glad we bought it.

This is a great outdoor fire pit for the price. Sometimes Walmart has it cheaper and sometimes Amazon does. It is worth checking them both as they both ship directly from Blue Rhino to your home. Also, the same fire pit is sold under the names Blue Rhino and UniFlame.

Once it is put together it is very sturdy and easy to use. The fire puts out a lot of heat and flame. The mantel is a nice size leaving plenty of room for drinks, plates, bottles, feet, etc. The lava rocks and fake logs looked a lot better than I thought they would. Overall it is a beautiful fire pit.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

(many of these are mentioned in other reviews, but they will save you a lot of hassle and time)

TIME: It says 1 hour but plan on 2 hours. Only a person who had put together about 5 of these perviously would be able to do it in an hour.

LOCATION: Plan to build it close to where you are going to use it as it is heavy to move once built. It can be easily moved by two strong people, but it would be hard for one person to move it any distance.

CARDBOARD: The is one large flat square piece of cardboard that is in the box with the top. Save this piece and use it to lay on the ground while building. Most of the building you will do with the top upside down and having this underneath will protect it from scratches and make it easy to slide around if needed.

INSTRUCTIONS: The instructions are good, but are mainly just pictures. There is very little detail provided. So you MUST carefully examine each picture as you build it, noting the number of holes on top versus the bottom, the direction of pieces and the exact screw needed. It is very easy to start putting a piece together to only realize that you messed up and need to take it a part and re-do it.

SCREW PACKAGE: A nice screw package is provided labeling each group of screws A,B,C, etc so you know which ones to use where. DOUBLE CHECK the labeling. On my package the A screws were labeled B and vice versa. I ended up using the allen screws where I was suppose to use the philips head screws and I ended up having to re-do the first couple of steps. Verify on the picture whether they want you to use the allen screws or philips head screws. Basically you will use the allen screws to attach the sides to the top, and you will use the philips head screws for everything else.

SCREW TIGHTENING: Almost every review mentions this advice and it is very important. When attaching a section together, first partially screw the screws in and once it is al attached, THEN tighten them down. The holes often do not line up perfectly and you will need a little "play" to line them up before tightening. The MOST IMPORTANT time to follow this is when you attach the sides to the top. DO NOT TIGHTEN all of the allen screws which are used to attach the sides to the top until you have ALL of the sides partially screwed in... then tighten everything down. If you don't follow this you will not be able to get all of the screws to match up to the holes. Also, on some pieces I found it useful to have a pair of pliers or hammer to bend some of the pieces a little so that the holes line up.

TANK COVER: A nice black vinyl tank cover is provided. It is easiest to put this on from the bottom upward and not from the top down.

TANK HOSE: I found it easiest to attach the hose to the tank and then rotate the tank clockwise a bit to tighten the hose up. This enables the hose to wrap closely around the tank and thus make it fit so that the door closes easily.

FIRE PIT COVER: A nice fitting cover is provided for the fire pit and even includes a little extra room at top to allow for the fake logs. This cover is a very thin and cheap vinyl. Be very careful when you put it on (especially if it is cold) as it will tear VERY EASILY at the corners. I would recommend turning the cover inside-out and reinforcing the edges and corners with duct tape first. Then use the cover as normal with the tape on the inside protecting the edges and corners. If you don't do this you will eventually tear the cover.

STARTING THE FIRE: Many have noted this as well, but it is easy to overlook. It does NOT start the same as a typical gas grill. To start the fire turn the knob to the start position and HOLD IT IN. While holding it in, press the electric starter. You must keep holding it in until it lights up (this can take a few seconds) and then you will need to KEEP HOLDING IT IN until the fire gets going. If you let go too soon it will just go out.

WINE: Don't keep a bottle of wine on the table top for very long as it will heat it up pretty fast if the fire is going...and who likes warm wine..ugh.

Overall this is an awesome product at a great price. The shipping was very fast (only a few days) and the item came in one large box. If you are patient and follow the above directions (or have a friend/relative who is) you will have it built and be using it to warm yourself in no time at all.

I have read a lot of positive reviews about this fire pit at other websites that offer it for sale. Hundreds of great reviews. I purchased it myself. It will take a minimum of two people (one has to help hold items in place at times while another screws in bolts) approximately two hours to assemble. It is packaged very well, instructions were mostly visuals/pictures, but step by step. Easy to turn on and off. Came with a cover for the propane tank (to make it blend into the dark metal sides) and a cover for the entire fire pit! We were able to use "Gas Watch" a propane gas level indicatoron the tank which will eliminate guessing how much gas remains before a refill would be needed. LOVE THIS FIRE PIT! Compared to other propane fire pits of this size and quality, the price is reasonable. The video let's you see more details of the pit; how it arrives packaged, the size compared to lawn furniture, and operation. Propane tank is not included.

This is an great firepit for the price. There is some assembly required but it is pretty straight forward and only a few simple tools required. The table is very sturdy and appears that it will last for many years to come. We are very pleased with the Blue Rhino Firebowl. It looks great and provides a beautiful glow to our evenings on the patio. The slate tabletop is wide and allows plenty of room for plates, glasses, or for putting your feet up. Be sure to assemble this product near to where you are going to use it because it weighs 150+ pounds. You don't want to have to move it too far after assembly. We were pleased to see that they included a black vinyl cover that slips over the butane tank. This makes it virtually invisible when the tank is enclosed under the tabletop. Likewise, the square cover that fits over the entire table top was very effective in keeping the table and firebowl dry during the recent rains. Great product.

Now that it is all put together I love this burner. It produces nice flames quickly, no more waiting for a "real" fire to get going and then feeling guilty if I go back inside before it's done! It is nice to look at too.

But the assembly was difficult. Ideally I needed an ambidextorous contortionist with a degree in structural engineering and very tiny strong hands. You definately need a strong and patient assistant at the least as nothing came out of the box quite square and needed some quite forceful encouragment to conform.

As long as you are prepared for a little sweat and irritation I would recommend it!

I purchased this this Stainless Steel Flue Stretcher because I had a new outdoor fireplace on my covered patio built that had a "smoking" problem due to it's location in relation to the rest of my house. I had a very short cap from the same company installed just to keep rain out, but it did nothing for the smoking problem. When I studied the problem a bit on a chilly evening I noticed that smoke was literally collecting around the short cap, not really drawing much at all. The airstream over my house seems to be a bit higher and seemed to create an area of low pressure of sorts below where the cap was located. I ordered this cap to try and push the exhaust from the fireplace into the airstream over the top of the house. I can tell you it is a very well made piece of hardware, very sturdy built, good materials and it's fairly easy to install. I would recommend that you use 100% silicone sealant (I used GE brand) very heavy and neatly around the base. I suspect over time and wind gusts the mounting screws of this unit could loosen and it might get blown off, the silicone will prevent it from moving even if the screws loosen. This is my solution, you can determine your own. By the way, the silicone on the outside is not subjected to any heat, I tested this, after the fireplace had been going for a few hours the outside of the flue stretch near the base was just lukewarm and so was the silicone. One last thing, I guess I did not mention that indeed the flue stetcher solved about 90% of my "smoking" issues, the other 9% or so I resolved with a "Grate Wall of Fire" fire grate which forced the heat right up the back of the fireplace and up the chimney almost creating a suction. I will never get 100% for an outdoor fireplace, but I think it's pretty good now. Finally, for those with a similar problem as mine, I would recommend this product, with the caveats I mentioned above.

Item was initially desribed as rustic, but finished, and the picture depicts a finished fireplace mantel. However, it arrives as a totally unfinished piece of wood, that I suppose with much work and skill could be made in to a mantel. I don't know why anyone would want ot pay $300-400 for an unfinished block of wood. Also. be careful aboout which vendor you order this product from. Hayneedle fully paid return shipping when I first ordered it through them, but its' subsidiary, Plumstruck (through Amazon.com) would not pay return shipping for this incorrectly advertised and totally unsatisfactory product. (Note: I tried ordereing it again through Plumbstuck/Amazon because I thought Hayneedle was having problems with matching their inventory for shipment with the item ordered, as what was received was so different than what was advertised/depcited. I ordered it again because I really wanted the nice fireplace mantel depicted in the photo, but apparently it doesn't exist).

I spent some time looking online for a cast iron fireplace grate and decided on this one. I've burned about 1/8 cord of almond wood on it so far, and it's working exactly as I'd hoped it would. One reviewer commented on the legs being too short, but they are just the right height for my needs. The legs raise the grate about 4 inches off the floor of the f/p, which was high enough to clear the gas lighter pipe. I am pretty happy with this grate..I burn wood almost every night. It hold lots of logs in it..The only negative thing is, maybe it could have been a little higher (the legs could be long)..But not a big problem.

This product is Super!

Starting a fire in our wood burning stove is simple and safe. No need for newspapers or mounds of kindling again.

I stack the inch and bigger pieces in the form of a log cabin (crisscross) and put the Ignite-o at the bottom. It recommends 2 packets but I have always used only one. Not a problem.

One match and that is all it takes. No more worries about paper going up the chimney and lighting it on fire. It is quick, convenient, safe, and the price cannot be beat.

I got a few of these as a free sample when I purchased a Creosote Sweeping Log to burn in my fireplace. Being the end of the fireplace season, I didn't get to use them indoors, but have had great luck with them in the firepit out back. Put one of these under a decenly well built stack of wood, and you should have a strong fire in no time. I don't know what's actually in these, but it seems to be some kind of solid fuel that burns easily, but somewhat slow. You get a good strong flames from it, and it probably lasts 5-10 minutes before the firestarter packet is all burned up. By then, the wood is well on it's way.

Oh, and they are very easy to light too, just take a match or lighter to the plastic around the edge of the packet, and it fires right up.

I purchased this cap mount to mount an Achla birdbath with a threaded mounting female end on the underside of the copper birdbath.The first cap mount I got from Amazon was defectivethe threaded stud was welded to the flange in a crooked fashion. This made the birdbath sit down on one side and up on the other. I returned the flange/stud and the replacement was perfect. The stud was at the correct 90 degree angle to the flange and the birdbath sat level on the post. This cap goes on the top of a 4X4 so your cut on the 4x4 top needs to be level or close to level. All in all this cap made it easy to mount the birdbath.Just screw it downwards on the flange. I would buy this again if I needed another one!

The Kwik-shot soot stopper has worked for several years for us. We have a 22' stainless, double-wall chimney and, while we try to burn only seasoned wood, occasionally we hit a run of less-than-perfect wood. The use of this product has eliminated the rental of a lift platform to access the top of the chimney and we have been able to avoid hiring a chimney sweep. We constantly monitor the pipe for any build-up and a quick treatment with the Kwik-shot cures any issues. The only itty-bitty item is that after a cleaning, flecks of ejected soot are evident on the snow on the lawn. That's not a problem, just evidence that the product has worked. Good stuff!

I think it is working. Makes a nice blue color. Not to sure until I sweep the chimney. I am going to chance not cleaning till end of winter. It has almost made it trough the whole season. This is lovely and a good size to hold wood. It matches well with any brass tool set you have. I like the filigree trim which brings it up a notch. Attaching the feat was difficult because the screws seemed to be the wrong size. We put it together flimsily, however, since it only needs to sit on the floor and hold wood it is good enough. A close examination would reveal flaws, but the price is outstanding and from normal viewing distance it is a lovely addition to our fireplace. This fits in beautifully in front of my parent's gorgeous fireplace in their formal living room.

We have a wood-buring fireplace and always keep a fire-resistant rug in front. Even though we have a screen in place, sometimes a spark gets out when placing new firewood. The rug we had used for several years needed to be replaced. I could not find anything locally, so of course I find exactly what I was looking for at Amazon! The rug is a little larger than the one being replaced, but that is not a problem. It is thickly woven 100% wool and claims fireresistance. Took away a star because I have not used it yet.

Takes a while to assemble need to get some grey grout from Lowe's there will be one gap between the pieces but it is an easy fix. Over all really good. My son characterized outdoor fire pits as woks, balls, or crockpots. I would add to that big, clunky, hard-to-move unattractive chimineas. This is a wok type. The bowl is a lovely beaten copper. Even with a fire burning in it, the rim is not too hot to touch, so you don't have to worry about little kids touching it and burning themselves. With this type of fire pit, the heat dissipates in all directions and cools from the bottom, so it is not as warm as a camp fire. But on your patio, you don't want it to be. Pros:

Once assembled the bowl and legs are very sturdy. The bowl handles a decent fire. It has a simple, clean design. The bowl isn't fixed to the legs so it can be easily removed to empty ashes. The bowl is adequately deep. Assembly is straight forward.

Cons:

The legs aren't machined well meaning it might take some muscle to get the base assembled square. The bowl has a poorly applied copper finish. It looks like thick paint put on with a cheap brush. I missed the word "finish" and thought I was getting a copper bowl. Bummer. The cover is thin, doesn't fit flush with the bowl and bends easily. The bowl and cover rust at the first sign of humidity.

Great size for traveling. We brought this on our Cape Cod vacation. We've always liked sitting outside in the evenings but after sunset we would have to move inside. This summer we were able to keep the evenings going by using the fire pit at night. Very atmospheric and the copper bowl is so beautiful.

I bought this fire pit about 5 months ago and it's awesome. It's very stable and weather resistant. I left it out with no cover and just flipped the bowl over and it's held up really well.

UPDATE Had for over a year, held up fairly good. It does rust if not covered and left in rain, but that seems like a normal happening, overall good buy.

It's not the best quality,but for $50 it's worth it. I would not pay almost $150 for this.
