The ignitors were as expected. I bought a two pack because my Mt Vernon eats ignitors. One note.... these ignitors did not arrive with the installation instructions. Previous ignitors that I had purchased arrived with installation instructions. If I hadn't already replaced several ignitors.... I may have had some problems without instructions.

This is the first time ever we've had to give a negative review for an item purchased on Amazon. We've been Amazon customers close to 15 years now, and buy most all our items online.

First and foremost the quality of the item is substandard. Instructions are poorly written and printed so small a magnifying glass is needed to read it. My husband is a pretty handy fellow overall with a mechanical engineering background and was ready to throw the "thing" into the dumpster after less than 10 minutes. We would have shipped it back had it not been for the fact we had a family emergency which took us away suddenly for almost a month. The packaging and wrappings had been gotten rid of in the meantime, and by the time we returned we had no choice but to put the "thing" together. And it looks like hell on top of it all.

I use this tv stand to hold a 32" tv and a vide game console. The stand comes in a low profile box, with all the shelves and components. All the screws and mounting hardware are in a single bag, not organized or separated. The instrunctions are

not impossible to read, but do require some interpretation and visualization of how the tv stand will be put together. I would highly recommend a power screwdriver to put this together. The screw holes are pre-tapped, but it's alot of work to hand screw everything together, which is what I did. A couple things to be aware of: all the shelving was dirty and dusty from the warehouse so I had to wipe it down before assembly. It pays to take your time and visualize how the tv stand will look when it is put together, because it is

possible and easy to make a mistake. Have a power screwdriver handy or be prepared to do some physical work. Also, the holes for the 4 rollers on the bottom weren't pre-tapped deep enough so I had to tap mine with a nail first. This is a manageable assembly for someone with average mechanical aptitude, but for someone who doesn't work with tools this probably would be too much to handle. When it's done it looks very nice in a corner, the wood is a dark brown mahagony color. I thing this item is fairly priced.

UPDATED 12/13/2011:

I emailed the seller soon after my last review to see where things stood and if they could supply me with a tracking number if they had one but didn't get a response. HOWEVER, I recieved my new Country Wood Holder two days later! Now, thats what I call Quick service! Granted, I was a little upset that I didn't hear any updates but actions speak louder than words... :-D

This new package was indeed double wrapped with cardboard box (someone did take note of my complaint) and it arrived in perfect condition. We've placed it next to the fireplace and neatly stacked the wood in it and what a difference! My wife LOVES it... Folks, I've looked around and I don't think you can beat this price! Especially knowing that this seller will stand behind their product and offer a quick resolution (if one ever existed)... Oh and a customer rep did respond to my email after I recieved my new item apologizing for the delay! I'm happy to report I'm a satisfied customer. :-)

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

I was really excited for this buy but was disappointed to receive it the way it was. The box seemed to have been tossed and kicked around! There were holes in the box and two of the sides of the wood holder were protruding through the box! It almost looked like UPS had a soccer game and used it as a ball... Keep in mind this is no fault of the seller and this paragraph didn't affect the rating. I was disappointed that we had accepted that delivery, I should have rejected it.

I did open the box hoping to see that it was still intact; however, one of the support beams broke at the welding point. I must say that the Country Wood Holder did look beautiful and seemed to be well built! It's got a good weight to it and doesn't feel cheap at all. I didn't take it out of the box that it came in since I already knew it had to go back so I can't comment on the tools. Btw, the wood holder was just placed in a plastic bag and dropped in the box, I was surprised to see there were no styrofoam (or the like) around it to protect it!

I immediately contacted the seller through Amazon and they got back to me two days later stating that they will issue me a return label and will exchange the product once they recieve it. I have yet to recieve the return label but after following up with customer service yesterday they informed me that it takes 2-3 business days to issue so hopefully today or tomorrow... I'm really hoping I'll get the replacement before Christmas.

Would I recommend this product? Yes but I wouldn't accept the package if it was roughed up!

Giving it just 3 stars since Amazon forces you to give it a rating but I haven't used it yet so I can't give it more. Updates to this review and the rating to come hopefully before Christmas...

Tried wiring up the 15 year old sensor on our Superior fireplace. It didn't work so off to Amazon in search of a replacement. Ordered this one Monday evening, arrived on Thursday. Very strong magnet. Slid the 2 wires over the connector lugs, turned on the fireplace and in a few minutes the fan started! Turned the fireplace off and upon returning from a walk (~30 minutes) the fan was off. So based on a single test everything looks good. I'll update this review if anything changes as we head into the heating season.

This item is a Godsend for those of us with laundry closets that are too small for normal venting situations and that require close-to-the-wall, expandable vents. However, the difficulty with this item is in its design: square corners rather than curved ones. Lint accumulates in its corners especially and the vent must be cleaned routinely. Mine worked great for about a year and then began clogging up. I now have to clean the vent after 2 or 3 uses, and, being in a small closet, it can be quite a feat to get behind the dryer to disconnect/clean/reconnect the vent. If you have room to easily get behind your dryer, you won't have the problem cleaning the unit.

I'd rate this item 5 stars for meeting an essential need, but 2 stars for its square-end design and the problem keeping it unclogged.

The bottom line is that, if you are like me, this is your ONLY CHOICE. (Although there are comparable items on the market, they are designed the same.) Consider this item a necessary evil.

I am purchasing another one to see if I have fewer problems with it.

The quality of this item is pretty bad. The 2 pieces don't fit together very well, allowing a large enough gap that it would end up blowing air from the dryer into the room unless you wrap it with some type of duct tape. You can buy a better quality version of this item right at your local Lowes. If I'd have known that, that's what I would have done.

In fact, when I went to Lowes to pick up some other items to complete this project, I saw the better version of it, bought it, and installed it. Plan to throw this one away ... would have loved to return it but didn't keep any of the packaging materials. Do yourself a favor, buy it at Lowes and not here on amazon.

This periscope allowed me to redirect the exhaust and move my over/under washer/dryer 2 inches closer to the wall, which in turn allowed me to utilize both doors in my utility room. Because I extended it to the max I sealed the sliding parts with silicone to assure that all the hot exhaust went outside. I have not complaints and would buy it again if the need arose.

This set works ok for a decorative set. If using for a wood burning fireplace, this will not work well any more than 2 years. We burn wood from Thanksgiving till about mid March. After 2 years or so of use, the handle portion of the tools broke off because the material is so thin. I'd recommend a solid steel tool set over this one for anyone who actually intends to use the tools.

I have never ordered something and returned it. This was my first. Not only did I receive it with missing screws, the screen's edges has wires that poke out everywhere. It would totally cut your skin on your fingers, especially a baby's. It was also flimsy. It looked like they sent me a screen that someone else might of returned.

I also had problems getting credited after I returned it. They never credited me, until Amazon stepped in. Then they emailed and said they weren't notified from their storage that an item was returned. So good thing Amazon stepped in and I saved my UPS labels. Not worth the $$$$$$!!!!! JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sadly, my fireplace was shipped without a piece, the bracket to hold the glass panel in. The panel still fits snug, and until I get the piece from Customer Service, it seems to stay in place fine anyway. The flame effect is surprisingly,very good. I did not expect it to be as life-like as it turns out. The heater is very quiet, and actually warms both my living room and dining room, an area approximately 30 x 15, to a comfortable degree. I agree with the poster above that a separate setting for the thermostat and flame would have been great. Also, since it is RF, it doesn't work with my Harmony One remote, but the remote is small and only has an "on" and an "off" button. One strange thing, I looked on the Dimplex site, and can not find this model. Even if it was a closeout, shouldn't they still list the model?

I received this last evening. It arrived in two large boxes and required assembly. It is the assembly instructions that prevent me from giving the fireplace 5 stars. While the mantle/hearth was relatively intuitive, the fireplace connections to the hearth were separate and not as simple as they could have been. There is little good instruction regarding the installation of the glass front (which was pristine upon arrival).

Now to the good: Wow! The fireplace, both wood and fake fire are top quality when compared to others I've seen in big box retailers and it was considerably less money.

The remote turns on and off the unit only which makes good sense to me. The only reason I would have to adjust the thermostat would be if I were to move the fireplace to a different room. The thermostat is easily adjustable and the flame and heat can be controlled separately. The noise made from the unit is less than the space heater I'd been using in the basement and is certainly far more attractive.

I'm very pleased with the quality, fit, finish and look of this unit and I expect to enjoy it for years to come.

UPDATE: I've had this heater for almost two years now (12/12)and while I will admit that the heater has gotten a bit noisier, it's still more quiet than most other free-standing heaters. The flame and all other components are as good as the day I put it together. It heats well and the flames are as vibrant as ever.

Still Recommended!

I bought one of these in 2008 did not even make it through the first season before issues that shut unit down. Very little help from factory. Finally got parts to get operable. Would run great when it ran, problem is it seldom ran. I agreed with factory to purchase another unit at a discounted price, continued to have problems with new unit and kept getting run around. Factory would send parts, would then work until next part broke. Have never made it through a season without unit in failure at least part of the season. Unit down for about 2.5 months during this heating season. Finally got part and put it in only to find several other issues with unit. After spending a considerable amount of money on unit and many hours attempting to make it run, I quit. Unit is going to the trash. I highly recommend that no one buy this product it is piece of garbage prone to break down and cause considerable frustration and many cold nights. I can not repeat enough times DO NOT BUY UNIT not even remotely worth the cost. I rated it one star only because the review would not accept comments without it.

I bought my EasyFire model 3801AF in 2008 and have used it since with very few problems.It has required one repair: broken weld on the feed disk, which with the factory customer service reps help was quickly replaced. I have added a battery backup to keep it running in case of power outages and has functioned perfectly in the 2 times that has happened. I keep a stock of some parts that I might need for repairs ( but have not neededyet) just in case--brushes for the 2 motors, a spare auger and feed motor gasket. Other than that I just keep it up as per the instruction. I can't explain why some are having trouble with their heaters but mine has worked well.

I purchased the Sierra Easy Fire Pellet Stove direct from Sierra Products about 4 years ago. So it may be an older model than the one they are selling here. The original feeder motor broke just after the warranty period had ended. I have purchased several since then. The feeder motors seem to always break just after the warranty period is over. I replaced one last year, the factory sent me the wrong one and after they finally sent me the right one it did not even last the season. They also sold me a repair kit to keep sawdust out of the motor, it fell part and did nothing. I am not purchasing any more parts for this stove. That is not the only problem with this stove and I would definitely recommend that you do your homework before buying any Sierra Easy Fire Wood pellet stove.

Have had the stove for a few years now, first year was fine, second year had a fire in the back of the stove where the fan is due to saw dust dropping from the hopper into the back. Then the ignitor went out. Now the thing is having an issue where it will start and run fine for about 15mins or so then stop feeding the pellets. Cleaned everything really good and still doing it. Replaced the T1/T2 sensors and still seeing the issue. Is probably the main circuit board, but haven't replaced it yet since it's around $300. Wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't purchase another one. Plan to go solar and use electric heat eventually. :)

Purchased a Sierra Easy Fire 4001 Pellet insert in 2008. While the unit works fine when it works-the problem is it rarely works. From day one the ignitor would not work, the battery back up system stopped working. The motor brushes constantly need to be replaced and/or cleaned. Now in 5th season unit is malfunctioning and pellets do not feed correctly causing unit to shut down.I am constantly researching product support files to troubleshoot problems. Since I purchased unit online there is no local dealer for servicing. Company cannot/will not provide tech support to fix problems. Looked like a great and reliable product on line and on Sierras website but simply would not purchase this companys product again.
