Review of Open Back Wall Clock

I got this for above my fireplace and it looks great. You'll need a heavy duty hanger for it, I think it weighs 10 pounds or so.

This clock is awesome, and it's been going for three years strong. The only complaint that I could think of is how flimsy the hands are, but they probably needed to keep them really lightweight for the motor in the clock. I really like the look of it, and it's held up to the test of time. I'd recommend this to someone else.

Nice looking clock.. Hand made welding adds a nice touch .. But the clock mechanizing hands just swing freely .. So if you want it just for looks.. This is great .. But not for keeping time..

Honest reviews on Open Back Wall Clock

Love this piece, it is exactly as described and looks amazing above my fireplace. There is not a back to the clock so if you have it on a darker wall color like i do it may be a bit hard to tell the time. This is not an issue for me because i got it more for the look. (i can still tell the time it just takes a few seconds longer to locate the hands) If this style matches your house you won't be disappointed with this clock!

I am not one to normally write reviews, but in this case I MUST share how incredible this screen is! You will not be disappointed in the least by this gorgeous screen. As the fireplace is the focal point of our room, I really wanted a screen that would stand out and look elegant, yet expensive. This screen is the ticket. No BAD , flimsy iron here. I looked at a ton of screens and this one is a solid, beautiful choice. So happy with my choice.

These look truly handmade.. I bought two, and they look very nice bolted to the mantle. The only negative is that the ad doesn't show that they are painted in a hammered grey finish, which I guess is designed to make them look more like forged iron. In my case, a couple coats of black rustoleum solved the problem.

I like the size and design. The tools are light and one-piecedo not fall apart.

When the fireplace gets hot it might be difficult to use as the tools are somewhat small. On the other hand I likje this size as t is easy to use.

Review of Mt. Vernon Combustion/exhaust Blower

Mt. Vernon Combustion/exhaust Blower
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

My exhaust blower on my Mt Vernon pellet stove went gunnybags at the 8-year mark (started screeching punctuated by other raspy sounds). I purchased this replacement exhaust blower as it was slightly cheaper than I could get elsewhere. When the box arrived the flange of the fan-cage was sticking out the side of the box and was slightly bent. This did not pose a big problem as I simply took a pair of pliers and bent the thin sheet metal flange back straight. Unfortunately the white felt "gasket" that came with it had been torn in two in several spots as it had been sandwiched between the bottom of the heavy fan housing and the packaging box. The only packaging that had been put in the box was packing-paper and the weight of the fan was too much for the paper to have any dampening effect. Thus, the heavier fan jostled all about in the box during shipment protruded through the side of the box and tore the gasket up. After straightening the fan housing I was able to also patch the gasket back up. After assembly (see below) I was somewhat disappointed to hear than the fan had a harmonic "rumble." The rumble lasts for about 1 second and then is replaced by a second of relative quiet at which time the rumble resonates on again and so forth. Thus, while my stove is on I can hear a huuuuuuuuum.................huuuuuuuuuuuum.......................huuuuuuuuuuum etc. It is only somewhat irritating, but adds to the overall noise the stove makes in the corner of my living room. The box from the seller contained one complete exhaust fan, one white felt gasket and an instruction sheet for "how to" go about changing out the old fan with the new. The instruction sheet was adequate except that it left out that you need some high temp gasket cement (or similar product) to properly seal the friction-fit between the fan housing and the exhaust port on the back of the stove. I was able to get a product at my local hardware store called Meeko's Red Devil Gasketing Cement & Stove Sealer that I used for the purpose.

I have only average mechanical capability and the whole disassembly/reassembly process took about 2 hours and fifteen minutes. You have to take apart most of the back half of the pellet stove in order to replace the exhaust fan. The instructions were adequate but I took additional notes to remind myself which colored wires go back onto which electrical component etc. It was at times a frustrating journey that required double-jointed wrists, midget hands and patience. The biggest hang up you will encounter is removing and replacing the screws that connect the exhaust blower to the stove. Not a lot of room for a ratchet inside the stove cavity. Accordingly, the top right screw was the biggest bugger. An open-ended 7/16th wrench was the only tool to use and you can only get about 1/10th of a turn of the screw per twist of the wrist. Patience grassshopper.....in ten minutes you will have the screw out. On reassembly I would suggest only slightly tightening the other exhaust fan screws first as getting the "big bugger" screw started is difficult (you have so little finger room between the auger chute and end of the screw) and you need all the play you can get to achieve getting the screw threaded back into its hole.

Good luck weekend warriors!

The blower was hard to find for this model of pellet stove (5) five years old.

Went in OK and now I need to find a control box for the stove.

Isn't that life... But the fan is good...

The fireplace works fine in it's most important aspect: generating heat. It has a stylish, very contemporary design. The glass front is thick and smooth and you don't need to worry about cracking it. The blue backlit display turns off after a few seconds which is nice. Great remote that supports all functions. There are a few annoyances that were weighing too heavily for us and made me return it, though: First, since the unit is only a few inches deep and it is either wall-mounted or on the stand there is no easy way to hide the cord, which really spoils the appearance. The fan is a little noisy and keeps on running even when the heat is turned off, probably to cool the two lamps and to generate the light effect. The "crackling wood" sound effect sounds hollow and thin but can thankfully be turned off. Finally, the light effect is not realistic at all, just a waving background.

If you don't mind these annoyances, it is a good product.

Even though it doesn't look like a tradtional fireplace, I still like it. It fits just about anywhere without taking up a lot of space. I don't like that it doesn't have life like flames; it's just a glowing, moving background. I bought it mainly because it has a REMOTE CONTROL!!! That is a wonderful feature! It has three stages of glowing brightness, which is great. I don't like the sound that is supposed to be crackling wood, but when I lower the sound, it sounds better and more like a crackling fireplace. It's easy enough to carry up to the bedroom, den, basement, wherever you want to put it. Just plug it into any outlet; but because it's 1500 wats, you mustn't have anything else plugged into the same socket outlet. I would recommend it to anyone.

I never write reviews, so you know I must like this product. Enjoy!

I just finished my call in to the Bionaire customer service dept. Hope when you buy your heater you won't need to do this . It took 4 phone calls to even get a person on the phone. Took me over an hour. Then they wanted to argue about the warranty rather than help me to either return the product or to repair it. It lasted from Dec 13th 2010 to March 1st 2011. Was pleased with product until it quit working. Won't buy another Bionaire product ever !! Terrible customer service !

This was a disaster. The third day I used my fireplace it burst into flames. I am so concerned that this product is not safe I was right there and could put the fire out if not the house would have caught on fire. I've reported this problem to amazon and The Nerds, and the manufacturer, and have not heard anything back.

Terri glad to be alive...

Discount LEGO® City Advent Calendar (7907)

LEGO® City Advent Calendar

This item had so much promise. I had high hopes, my eight year old had high hopes...what better way to anticipate Christmas but with Legos! And a teeny lego kit a day. A huge city was on the side of the box, and I warned my son that there was no way an entire city could fit into those little boxes...or could it? November moved by very slowly.

Let me tell you what he opened: Day 13, A DUMPSTER (thats it!), Day 20, a trash can...because nothing says Christmas like a trashcan. He also got a barrel, a dolly, a computer, and other completely random things. These weren't things you put together either, these were just tiny plastic replicas. On the plus side (?) He got alot of little lego men, a janitor, a police man. But once again, with nothing to put together.

I don't understand the mishmash of items he got! I held my breah that first week or two, praying there was a grand plan to all these weird and completely unrelated items..would it build something? Did it have meaning? Unfortunately, on December 22nd I have decided no. This is a completely odd set, none of the pieces go together, and despite the misnomer of being a "lego" set, nothing snapped into anything else. Just plain strange.

Talk about a neat advent calendar! We were very confused, however, upon opening the box as to what to do with this set. We actually are rocket scientists here and since there were no instructions, you have to flim-flam around until you figure out the picture. Anyway, upon opening the box, there is a beautiful Christmas scene with the Lego city boats transporting numerous Christmas trees. Behind each door is a picture of what is supposed to be built for the day, and it's quite fun punching the door open to discover which item is going to be built for the day. My only complaint with this set is that it would be an entire different experience if Lego would change it to actually build something like, say the boat they pictured on the box. Maybe build a piece of it each day. Other than that, it's just a very neat to make the town come alive with Christmas Anyway, grab this set, you WON'T be disappointed! Recommend!

Haven't opened this for this year but have loved it in previous years. My 5 year old looks forward to going to bed so he can open the next days lego box the next morning.

Honest reviews on LEGO® City Advent Calendar (7907)

Got this last year and my two boys, 9 and 5, LOVED getting up early each morning to assemble the piece for the day. This made a fantastic family Christmas gift. We gave this to a few close friends as their Christmas gift. It stood out from the gift-mania that happens on Christmas day and it was fun for every family we gave it to. There is also a girl version!

I usually forget to buy these things until mid-December and either they are sold out or my kids have to "catch up" on the days all at once! Finally this year I remembered and cant wait to give this to them. (I got one for each of 2 children...no fighting!) Note to self: Don't forget to pull these out of the closet on Dec. 1!

They are bombarded daily with toys and such on television during the month of December, so it is nice to let them have at least a little something early. The waiting makes them nutty!

The toys are pretty simple, but it is way more daily fun than getting crappy chocolate (remember "Bad Santa" movie ha ha!) or just moving a little object to a new place on a traditional advent calendar. Soon they will be too old to appreciate any little thing like this.

Plus the toys are little so if we get unexpected company, I can gather them all up quickly to make people belive we live in a neat house! Don't forget to get one early this year!!!
