I bought this remote to control my firegear ventless gas logs since I decided to switch to heating my house primarily by propane instead of my heat pump. This remote control units works well for my needs. I can set it to 70 degrees and it will cycle the logs on at 68 and off at 72. The only reason I did not give this item a 5 star rating is that you cannot adjust the swing setting, which is the +2 off and -2 on setting that controls the logs. I should have done more research, but I was able to compensate by playing with where I put the remote. I placed the remote a little closer to the fireplace, which effectively cycles the logs on/off how I prefer. According to my central heat/air thermostat, the effective swing is now only 1 degree. My actual temperature varies from 69-70 degrees.

Discount Solid Steel Bristol Hearth Tool Set, in Copper

First, I ordered a hearth set, with a picture of the tools and log holder. Now the price has been lowered, the picture has been changed, and the description has been changed. Misleading is the kindest word I can think of for it. A more accurate description of that would be unscrupulously taking advantage of people. I want the log holder I ordered.

However, that is not why I gave the tool set two stars. That rating is for the tools alone, not for the dishonesty of the seller. They look nice, but the handles worked properly about the first half dozen uses. Since then, they have come lose every time we use them--and we are very careful with our property and do not have children. They come unscrewed.

I am afraid that the short screw welded to the tool will become stripped by repeated tightening. Unfortunately, the tightening is necessary for the tools to be functional. It is frustrating and unsafe when you are holding a burning log and the tool suddenly turns.

It is hard to find decent-looking, fairly-priced options for fireplace tools. I looked extensively before settling on this set, which at the time cost ninety US and included the log holder. I would advise you to keep looking.

I received the tool set and was very pleased with it but it did not come with Bristol Hearth log holder. I kept waiting for it to ship and never received it. Even the picture that you just sent me to review is of the Bristol Hearth log holder.

I tried to get back on line and it didn't show the Items together anymore, only separate pictures of the items. I'm pretty sure it was for both of them. Would be nice if some one could check this out and get back with me so I could give it a five star.

Best Woodeze 5DA-FB-F Cast Iron Fireback Feet Deals

I found these fireback feet to be functional stable and decorative. There are much more expensive feet available that look very industrial rather than colonial era. If you have a decorative fireback these will do it justice. This is especially important when the fireback is moved forwards during the summer for display. The unfavorable reviewers who stated the feet are 6" deep and take up too much of the fireplace have a point but all feet and firebacks are going to reduce the useable depth of your firebox. Measure your grate and determine this for yourself before you buy any fireback feet. You don't need the full 6" clearance as your grate in all likelihood will be elevated above the feet and touch the fireback directly which will be closer to 4.5". Plus you can move the feet side to side and avoid hitting one of the grate bars to create more room. Another advantage these feet have is that they only elevate the fireback 1/4-1/2" unlike others that elevate the fireback 2" off the bottom allowing coals to go behind the fireback reducing the efficiency of the fireback to protect the back of your fireplace and at the same time radiate heat forward. The feet hold the fireback at about a 20-25% angle from vertical (tilting away from the front of the fireplace) depending on the thickness of your fireback.

I purchased these feet as it appeared necessary to hold the accompanying fireback. Unfortunately, they require about six inches of depth space, so in a small fireplace they leave no room for a fire grate or fire after the fireback is installed. The vendor should really explain the problem with using these feet and fireback in a smaller fireplace other than a non-descript "measure your fireplace." Depth is actually just as important as height and width.

I ended up reshaping my old grate with a sledgehammer so it could hold both the fireback and the burning wood. If you're purchasing a large fireback and have a large fireplace, I sure these would work.

Should return, but shipping costs make it not worth the bother.

Dundas Jafine FD38EZW Flexible Vinyl Ducting Review

I am using this on a bathroom vent fan to pull humidity out after showers/baths etc. After removing this duct from the package a terrible vinyl stench filled the room and stayed for hours...its been well over 5 days and the duct still smells unattractive but its certainly getting better. As this vent will go directly outdoors I'm not concerned with off-gassing/odors in my home, however, just a warning to those opening the package, you might want to open this one outdoors and let the duct sit on your porch for a day or too...otherwise your house may smell like a raincoat for the next few days :) Other than that this duct was awesome, cheap price, very flexible, shrinks into a nice compact size while capable of stretching to satisfy any household needs. Highly recommend the product for anyone that needs ducting to vent air directly outside.

This is a great fireplace screen. It is better than expected. I ordered it and didn't expect to get it before Christmas, but to my surprise, it came in time to use for Christmas Eve! Great screen, great service. This screen is cheaper than a lot of the other high end screens, but is much nicer and great quality for the money. It is exactly what I have been looking for! I am so glad I decided to buy this. It really enhances the look of my fireplace, and is a great focal point. Well, I'm almost embarrassed by this one. Last night, I went to start the furnace and I didn't have a match. (For those of you who might question the December 14 starting date, well I live in San Diego, so eat your heart out.) Alas, and I needed one of those long wooden ones so I could reach into the innards of the furnace to ignite the pilot light. Well, I found a box of Diamond Greenlight "Strike on Box Matches" at a nearby store and all was solved. One match did the trick. Plus, there's 299 more of them so I'm stocked well into the future. The fireplace is almost everything I wanted. The only think missing is the real sound of a fireplace and I have added a Woodwick candle on the mantle to get the desired effect.
