I looked over many sets on-line and I chose this one based on looks and certainly on the weight of the set. If you look at the other sets, most of them weigh much less; some even one-half of what this weighs. My last set was much cheaper and it showed after time.... the shovel could bend at the shovel end, etc. I was concerned buying a tool set on line without seeing and feeling it. I was certainly pleased when this one arrived and I knew instantly that it would hold up for a lifetime. It is heavy duty. Very pleased with my purchase. Highly recommend. Looks great!

I really liked the design of this fireplace and after shopping and comparing MANY options... even others of the same design at other stores that were nearly twice the price, I decided to give this one a shot... wondering if the lower price meant it would be lesser quality.

I've been completely happy with this item. The fire is very realistic for an electric option. The heater cranks out the warmth and its contemporary design fits great in my modern home. While I"d love to have a REAL fireplace, this has been a great alternative for cozy winter nights. I even had a Christmas tree and stockings around it for the holidays.

It looks nice and puts out good enough heat for a single story room. However the mounting hardware was useless to we who have drywall instead if concrete or block walls. The hardware provided was concrete anchors. So you will need to head over to the nearest Lowes to buy any other type anchors you may need for the wall it will be placed on. "Drywall, partical board, wood etc.

I could't be happier with this contemporary, very attractive fireplace--I replaced the stones provided with river rocks that I had and it blended in perfectly with my existing decor. It is quiet enough and gives off apply heat for my 12 by 13 space. A bargain at this price, in my opinion.

I heat my house with wood and have a wood stove (that has glass door) and a fireplace. For me there is no other way to get warmreal wood is the best. I built my man room by cutting off part of my garage and I have all the manly stuff one could want (big tv, bad ass music system, bar, reclining chair, etc...) so when my mother in law suggested that I put in an electric fireplace below the tv, I was really skeptical! She has really good instinct for style and decoration, and I trust her advice all the time. I settled on this electric fireplace mostly because of it's looks. Now that it's in, it's really pretty cool! It puts off good heat, and I would of given it 5 stars, but it is a little noisy. I think someone else reviewed that noise as "crackling", but it's notit's the fan turning. The flames look fake, but, for what it is it's really cool.

The only thing that's hard to know about this before you get it is the rate of the curve. The two corners of our fireplace are open but other than that, it looks great and fits perfectly. Such a great alternative to anything I found in fireplace and hardware stores.

I bought this to keep my 2 cats from getting into the fireplace. Because of some little feet on the back, it doesn't sit flush with the front of the fireplace. There's some space there, but so far, it's done its job. One other thing--it's not super heavy, so when you open the doors, it tilts forward and you have to keep your hand on the frame and kind of work one-handed. But it looks nice and it works for me!

After doing some research on sets like this one, I was under the impression that this particular product would hold up best in outdoor conditions. It had rust forming on it within a week of being outside (under "normal" weather conditions). I have had this for a while now (more than a year) and It is now completely rusted. I still use it however, even though it doesn't look like stainless steel anymore. One twisted handle does now have a break in it (I don't know exactly when that happened) It wasn't from use, it just snapped. Again, it is sturdy enough that I still use it, but don't expect it to retain the nice stainless steel look it has when new. That look will not last long outside!

Before writing this review we want to mention that AMAZON was the HERO that made this nightmare go away.

Who do you go to "Best offer Furniture"or "Nader's" (parent co.) when you receive a broken piece of furniture, that appeared used, delivered to your front door? We spent over $600.00 for this unit and did NOT even receive what we thought we were going to get which was suppose to be first quality, brand new furniture with fireplace (as seen on their best offer site). We received a complete run-a-round from Best Offer Furniture (representative Joe & Wendy) with poor customer service and ABSOLUTELY NO RESOLVE. They told us our only options were to have the item either returned at our cost which was close to $200.00 for return shipping (which was insane since we received the item damaged and what appeared used) or go through the manufacturer to receive parts. We discovered from the furniture manufacturer, that they deal with, that since BEST offer furniture is actually a third party seller and not an authorized distributor of this product, it was communicated to us that they would NOT service any warranty issues with that piece of furniture. So after 3 weeks, or better, getting a complete run-a-round, rudeness and NO resolve from the seller to work with us in a way that would be agreeable we had to find alternate ways to resolve and receive a full credit in the end. All I can say is that I have personally been in the customer service business for over 20 years and never experienced anything like this. We would never EVER deal with this company, companies or vendor NEVER EVER again!!!!

We had issues with our fireplace remote for about a year and kept fiddling with it, replacing batteries, etc. Finally we had enough and I googled the part number. I was pleased to find this at Amazon and prime to boot.

It was an EXACT replacement of both the transmitter and receiver. I followed the instructions and had no problem replacing the receiver. All the connections are quick connecting spades and are insulated. No tools needed. Just disconnect the old receiver and connect the new one -wire for wire. Hard to go wrong. The whole project, including reading the directions, took 30 minutes. It's been working flawlessly for the past six months.

I would have given this a 5 except for the cost. Just seems very expensive for what it is. I did shop around and couldn't find much better, so I guess that's the deal.

Got it and hooked up only two wires to the fireplace control and hit the "on" button. Poof, the flames came on immediately. A click of the "off" button, and the flames went off. Why pay $100 more for a HeatnGlo remote when the Skytech works just as well?

I bought this fireplace to replace a larger corner gel fuel fireplace that I'd retrofitted with glowing electric logs. I wanted something smaller and with a flame effect. This is a good-looking, solid piece of furniture that comes ready to plug in--absolutely no assembly required. Shipping was free, and the delivery man took it out of the packing for me so that I could make sure it was undamaged and that it worked. That was an unexpected extra.

FLAMES AND REALISM

The flames are fairly realistic, but you do have to be fairly close to the fireplace. When I'm across the room, I see the glow and flicker but not the flames, I suspect this is because the firebox is higher up, and if I were looking down on it, I would see the flames. (I base that supposition on the fact that I have a small electric stove in my bedroom, and the flames are easily visible from anywhere in the room, whether I am standing or lying in bed.) Had I realised, I probably would have bought a different fireplace with the firebox closer to floor level; however, it's not enough to make me want to send the fireplace back. The flames switch on and off with a remote. I haven't figured out whether the remote also controls the heater, but I don't think so.

Something to note with all electric fireplaces I've seen is that the mirror at the back (which gives the illusion that the flames are coming up from between logs) and the glass covering the firebox reflect what's in the room, which interferes with the illusion. My fireplace looks more realistic at night in low light, when it doesn't reflect the polished wood floor. My bedroom has dark blue carpet which simply reflects as dark and the flame effect of the stove is therefore more realistic at all times of day.

HEAT

I've turned the heat on to make sure it works, but it's not heater weather yet, so I can't comment on its heating ability in a cold room. I doubt it's powerful enough to be the sole heat source for my quite large living/dining room, but it will be fine as an auxiliary heater. And anyway, heating wasn't a prime consideration for me: I bought the fireplace for ambience rather than practicality.

BULB REPLACEMENT

I haven't actually done it, but from the directions it's much easier than bulb replacement in my little electric stove. The bulbs are standard candelabra bulbs with the small base, which are available in any supermarket and therefore more convenient than the halogen bulbs used by the stove.

BOTTOM LINE

An attractive addition to my living room. But if you have $2,000 to spend, look into the Dimplex Opti myst. Developed in Europe and previously sold only there, it is now available in the U.S. The technology creates an astoundingly realistic flame and smoke effect. Beyond my price range unfortunately.

I love this fireplace. I have a decent size bedroom but the available corner is very small. I decided I would have to purchase some kind of stand rather than a fireplace until I saw this one. It quickly heats the bedroom, is attractive and fits in with the decor.

I was looking for a realistic electric fireplace that would work for our bedroom. This one looks good, realistic flames, nice heater,very happy with the product itself. Dimplex is the best brand of electric fireplace, I have 3 of them. This is a good product but I could not find any other way to purchase it except on line no stores carried this one. Love it... Hated the shipping. No problems with Amazon for all prior purchases but for this we had 2 of this item broken in shipping; the first one we returned because it arrived in pieces, second one kept because damage was minimal but I didn't want to take another day off and had no confidence a third would arrive without damage, and I really wanted the product. Bottom line; It is not packaged well enough for delivery. Carrier Home Direct service was poor. Drop and run, unhelpful, kind of rude, and refused to take the return on one trip due to poor communication with Amazon. Ended up waiting around the house on 3 different days to take delivery in the end of one slightly damaged product and to return a badly broken one! I will likely never purchase anything from Amazon again unless they are things like books or other non breakable items. "Free shipping" ended cost me 2 vacation days and my Saturday off sitting around waiting. Yikes!

Buy Rutland Fireplace Mortar 10.3 Oz Cartridge (Buff)

Used as directed, Rutland 63 Fireplace Mortar works great as an adhesive and filler, and as I noted in the title, it is cheap. I looked on line at products in the $100 range, and although I have no idea as to whether or not they would have done a better job, the Rutland product does the job, so why pay 20 times as much?

Rutland warns about filling over 1/4" thick, recommending their casting materials for that use, and I believe I discovered why. When you fire the repair, entraped water turns to steam and causes bubbles in the material. For my purposes this was not a point of concern, but if appearance is important in your repair, pay attention to their warning. Go on line and download Rutland's instruction and information sheets.

Just a point of interest, my repair was to an over 40 year old Kamado, an earthenware Japanese cooker which must have served as a model for the Weber BBQs. Moves of our household over those 40 years cracked the firebox and firering. I have used the Kamado several times since the repair, and all appears to be in good shape.
