Review of Achla Designs Wall Mount Bracket for Threaded Birdbaths

Pros: Installs easily and can be mounted almost anywhere (porch, tree, fence, etc). I used this with "Achla Designs Heart Shaped Birdbath and Feeder". It fits well and looks really nice.

Cons: Kind of expensive for what it is. A simple, threaded metal bar shouldn't cost more than $10. You must also provide your own screws. I might also suggest you add washers also, because the holes are pretty large and typical wood screws are ALMOST too small for them! Also, the Achla products that are specifically designed for it are very pretty, but expensive. Product descriptions on Amazon are also not good at ensuring that a bath is threaded correctly so that it will fit.

Other thoughts: I actually have two "Heart Shaped Birdbaths", because the first one arrived damaged and was replaced (this was not Amazon's fault I ordered from another website entirely). The first one screws in perfectly, so that it faces forward, away from the mount. But the second one ends up pointing to the side when you screw it in all the way. I can either 1) leave it a just a tad loose if I want it pointing forward or 2) deal with the different orientation. Just something to think about. Oh, and if you're wondering what the deal with the damaged bath was: the little bird broke off in shipping, but some clear expoy actually worked perfectly to put it back together. So I ended up with two working birdbaths!

All these little cons add up, so I feel justified taking away a couple stars.

Vulcan Stove Fan (Stirling Engine Powered) Review

This is a great sterling stove fan, the only one I could find that was actually in-stock and not sold as a kit. Not only is the technology more interesting than the thermo-electric type, it should also last longer and is visually more interesting.

Minimally assembly was required, just a screwdriver to attach the fan blade to the unit. The fan does require a flat and very hot surface to function, you need to wait until the surface of your stove is above 200F before placing the fan, and will need to give the blades a little spin to get it started, then it will run forever, or at least until the stove and the room air reach equillibrium.

This has glass parts and an exposed fan blade and is not suitable for use around small children, but then neither is a blazing hot stove.

this product is very well made. the quality is well above others in the same category. the vulcan stove fan is well designed. contains quality parts. runs smooth and quiet. made to run for years. zero maintenance required. no oiling at all. how great is that. it actually pushes the air around pretty well. i give this product a thumbs up. well worth the price. and so much beter than the thermal electric products out there. more suited to withstand the heat over time.

mine was nocked off by my granddaughter in the off season, so I shipped it back to UK at a considerable expense and it still does not work, the detail on how to adjust is hard to digest, made several adjustments but to no Avail!

I love Amazon as they replaced it when it arrived damaged at the base. I ordered a replacement and that arrived quickly, but it was damaged in the same area. The rest may be made with a good metal, but the base must be made with crude pot metal.

This is a nice affordable fireplace hearth. It was fairly simple to install. It is not a high end solid piece but looks wise it is exactly like you see in the picture. If you are looking for an affordable upgrade to an old fireplace like I was I would recommend this. If you are looking for an upper scale classy fireplace you probably want to spend more money. This hearth not only looks great but it was easy to install. We had an old gold hearth before that was falling off and the doors were broken when we bought this house 6 months ago and with 2 small kids we needed to replace it. I absolutely love it.

We like our new FP hearth unit...its ok. We did not like Fed ex losing the first one in shipping and we do not like the fact that its fit on the brick leaves gaps and voids that you must fill with insulation (somewhat of a disappointment for such a expensive door unit) and the fire rated insulation is not cheap.

Installation was easy as stated did not take us long at all to get it mounted and secured (no tool were required to accomplish this).

The finish and color is exactly as stated and the looks are a good fit for our room and area.

I replaced a dated brass screen with the Pleasant Hearth Craton Fireplace Glass Doors. It was an instant update. They look great! The doors are sturdy. Nothing flimsy about it. The installation was easy. I did it by myself (64 yr old female) with no problem although it is probably even easier with a helper. Like others, I would have liked a bit more insulation included but that's a minor complaint. You can't go wrong with these doors.

I've been burning liquid ethanol for over two years. It is simple, clean burning, can be placed anywhere without external venting, and requires no cleanup.

Last december, I decided to buy a second ethanol fireplace. My problem was, the fireplace I wanted ran on gel fuel. I purchased the fireplace anyway and found online a conversion kit from gel to ethanol. Unfortunately, I soon discovered, the flame was not controlable and I burned 5 times more ethanol, than in my other fireplace that had a burner like this one. The new fireplace though, had plenty of room to mount an ethanol burner insert. However, the average price for the inserts in most cases were higher priced than buying a whole fireplace with insert.

Just when I was ready to actually purchace another fireplace to get an insert, the EB-1200 became available on amazon. I ordered it, it arrived within 2 days, well packed and most importantly, well designed and built. The insert fit perfectly in the stove, and the sliding damper allows you to adjust or extinguish the flames easily.

I do want to note, unlike many burner inserts this one is not "sealed" There are air passages that improves the burning and lighting of the burner around the top seam. If you remove the insert to fill it, remember not to over fill, slosh the burner when you put it back. A full burner, with the damper closed about 1/4 of the opening, runs between 6-7 hours on my 225 sq ft office. It will bring the room from 60 degrees F to 71 degrees F in about an hour and a half or less.

Returning it. It looks super cheap and many of the pieces were bent or threaded crooked. Wouldn't pay $10 for it or put it on display next to the fireplace.

my only dislike of this product is that I wish the blower fan pushed the heat further out rather than a direct upward draft. I have 9 foot ceilings and I want to heat my room, not the ceiling. It was a great price, east to put together and looks gorgeous.

This is our third Dimplex living flame electric heater. We have two that resemble free-standing coal stoves and our last purchase which is this Traditional Electric Fireplace, Burnished Walnut. The wooden surround is real wood and not particle board. It requires assembly but is so well made, it is actually a pleasure to put together. Good furniture grade product. Love it!

I would have given a rating of 4.5 stars instead of 5 stars. It looses 1/2 point because the "flame" effect seems a little dim. In the other two heaters, the flames are much brighter and really look authentic. This looks a little holographic but is not objectionable. From a distance of 4'-6', the effect is nice but requires the room to be a little dark. Around dusk, you get a nice cozy feel when it is on and it completes the mood which is very nice.

To compensate for the dim flames, I considered putting higher wattage bulbs in, but they are mini-base bulbs and only go to 60 watt, which is what the fireplace came with. Careful consideration led me to increase the flame brightness by creating a reflector to augment the light. The bulbs are covered by a small inspection panel which is easily removed. I cut two pieces of aluminum foil the size of the inspection cover. I attached one piece to the inside of the inspection cover, shiniest side out and the other to the space below the bulbs, shiniest side up to create a two sided reflector. I don't exaggerate when I say that it doubled the brightness of the flames immediately! An added unexpected benefit is that the unit is cooler to the touch on the inspection cover, which got quite hot from the burning bulbs. Apparently, the reflector reflects the heat from the bulbs as well as the light, hence the cooler feel. A good job all around!

I would only ever consider buying a Dimplex product as I have done so for over 20 years and have always been completely satisfied with their performance. The 3D flame effect is unmatched and the remote control is a nice touch. I highly recommend this particular product, and look forward to enjoying it for years to come, especially since I made a simple

modification which enhances the experience.

We wanted a simple stove to heat approx 1000 sq ft. This stove works very well, at times, too well! Husband installed w/o much trouble. Pressed logs work great with this stove making burn times longer thru the night. Depending on wood used and temps outside, it may be necessary to stoke during the overnite hours. This is our main source of heat and it does the job.
