The clock arrived completely in pieces, broken glass everywhere. The seller immediately had a replacement sent and it arrived in the same shape; completely shattered. We tried a third time, hoping Sterling would ship it in better packaging, but the third one arrived in exactly the same condition. It was shipped with the same flimsy packaging each time which kind of blew my mind. They blamed UPS but that was not the problem. When you ship something with glass, it should have extra cushioning but this only had one layer of small bubble wrap and a thin piece of styrofoam each time. We all know the delivery companies are rough on packages so I don't blame them.

I was very disappointed, as the clock would have been beautiful if not broken.

The seller was great to work with, responded immediately and apologized. I would buy from them again, but never a Sterling product.

This mantel is attractive and easy to install. It was exactly what we were hoping for. It is well made of real wood, and has a nice cherry finish on it. We remodeled our fireplace with tile below and this above, and have received many compliments on how attractive this piece is.

Just as a note for anyone intending to use it in a fashion similar to above, the arched area along the bottom of the mantel sits flush with the wall when installed. In the event you are installing this around tile/stone, you will need to cut along that arch as opposed to mounting it over your tile/stone, which can be very challenging. I'm a novice, so this took a bit of effort and a few attempts for some of the tile pieces, but in the end, I was successful and the project turned out outstanding.

I recently ordered and unfinished mantel. It arrived within 3 days of placing my order. The very first day I stained it a light cherry to match some of the furniture in my room. I noticed right away that there were some glue spot around the joints. These areas did not take the stain at all. It made the mantel look very blotchy. I called customer service and they prepared my return and within a week I had a new one (this time I ordered the prefinished and boy did it look great).

We purchased this item (unfinished) for a home we are building, We inspected it upon arrival and found that a significant piece in the front of the mantel had been damaged and filled with wood putty. We were concerned that it wouldn't take the stain correctly. We called the company directly and after having to send them pictures, they agreed to take it back. We were instructed to use Amazon's return department, so we ordered a replacement, to which Amazon promptly overnighted.

This one arrived and looked good (on initial glance). When the time came to install the mantel in our home, we put it up on the drywall and the top of the mantel had a severe slope from front to back. It was SO Out of Square, you would have had to bring the top of the mantel out an inch just to level it out. When I started to look closely, you could see the POOR Construction and why it had such a bad slope.

The mantel looks great in pictures, and even looks good coming out of the box, but when you're putting this in your home, I want something to be proud of. I would have given a little better grade, had it not been for both mantels being of poor quality.

I would have given this piece 5 stars, the color is great and the quality looks good; but it came with a small chip on the back (part that goes against wall). Because the chipped part went against the wall I decided to keep the mantel as is. But seller should make sure not to sell defective products and make sure the delivery service used is careful.

Very attractive design. However, the doors hinges were not welded properly so there is a 1/16" gap at the top of the left door, and a 1/4" gap at the top of the right door. Very noticeable. Made in China where quality control seems to be non-existent.

In this economy, I scour the net for the best quality & deal for my $ and settled on this fireplace screen after reading the specs (wanted doors so that I wouldn't have to move it to add wood or stoke the fire) & reviews and it is everything the reviews said quality metal, aligned doors (at least my doors were), legs to keep it steady & balanced, nice black color & glass inserts. Magnets hold the doors closed & there is a metal "U" piece included to insert in a metal tube behind each door to lock them so a child cannot open them nice touch & safety feature. Ready to face this winter with a much better looking fireplace!

I've been using these for many years and am now about to restock. A single 2x2 inch block will light a full sized log in my fireplace, so no need to have kindling or newspaper around. They don't flare up fast either, so you can light one, place it by hand on the fire grate, then pile logs over. Fire starts in 5 minutes or so. Very compact and inexpensive, unlike similar products in home improvement or fireplace stores. It took me a while to realize how perfectly they light charcoal in my chimney-style starter for the grill. These make good gifts too, for Christmas or as a house gift. A useful, inexpensive, practical product.

the blox work like magic! One small square is enough to get a fire to catch in our woodburning stove without messing around with kindling. Just stack a few logs strategically around/over one sq of blox, light the sq & you'll have a nice fire going in no time. Also great with charcoal for the grill if you don't want to use a chimney starter. No odors. No strange taste left on food--unlike lighter fluid. Very affordable.

I have been using this product for over 5 years to light fire in a relatively large wood burning BBQ smoker. I typically use only one square to start the wood burning. We have used these for years, for starting the charcoal grill as well as fires in the fireplace. I bought a case of them which finally ran out, and have just bought another case, which should last for years. We have a fire pit now, so I think we will use them there, too. They leave no bad taste on the food, they are made with all non toxic ingredients, and I really appreciate that, since I don't like using chemicals around my food. I have seen other products on the market, but have never bought any but these.

I looked at every fake fireplace and settled on this one because of the size and the weight. We wheel it from the bedroom in the morning to the living room and back into the bedroom at night. We don't use the baseboard heaters at all anymore. It is easy to move around and heats up the room really quickly. This product was exactly what we needed for my son's apartment so that he could store all of his electronic equipment in a more organized manner. It is very sturdy, but had several nicks and dings, particularly in some of the corners. I realize that is probably a shipping challenge, but it also is a problem with how it is packaged. The color is very dark, probably more black than brown which worked well for our use. The product itself is very good and I'd recommend it. Shipping without damage is the challenge due to the packaging. For the record, the damage was not severe enough that we felt the need to return it, but we did use a black magic marker for some of the repairs. If we had been placing this in a very visible location, it would have been more of a problem.

The set comes with a stand, hooked poker, tongs, shovel, and brush. It required a little bit of assembly, nothing too difficult. Basically it just needed the handles to be screwed into the grips. The one complaint I have is that the tongs should be a little wider to be able to grab pieces of wood or coal better. The ends are barely 3/4" wide, and wood often wobbles a bit when you pick it up, or coals and embers slip out of the grasp of the tongs sometimes. That's why I give this only 4 out of 5 stars. I actually got this more for my barbeque-grill outside, so I can move the charcoal around while it's burning, which it does a great job of too.

Only complaint someone might have was that both the packaging box and the product box inside were damaged. Didn't bother me, as the tools themselves were in perfect condition, but our set might have been difficult to give as a gift packaged as is. Otherwise though good product, highly recommended.

This is a nice set, the tools appear to be sturdy and the assembly was easy. The only reason I didn't give it a perfect score was due to poor product packaging. This "leather" log carrier made is made from thin suede so it's not very durable. One of the handles on mine failed in a single season--just ripped right off. Also, the small diameter wood dowels inserted into pockets under each handle are always falling out. Definitely not worth $35.00.

My old black iron fireplace grates had a bad habit of melting. They would get cherry red in the center and droop down to the floor of the fireplace. I remembered as a child, that my folks had a cast iron pot-bellied stove in the basement and while it would get cherry red during those long ago Minnesota winters, it never melted.I'm in Louisiana now , but we get some cold weather and so far, this grate has been perfect. I expect many more years of service out of it. At 70 years of age, I consider this a life-time grate!

I found this item with free shipping to a local store in my area. The price was a bit higher however they had a coupon that brought the price down to the same as the Amazon price & I saved the $11.65 shipping. Of course I opted to save the shipping charge, it was a no brainer. When in doubt check it out. This grate is very well made & makes a fire in a small fireplace much more efficient than the cheap one that comes with the original fireplace. This is my second Vestal J-18 grate & I have been using this fireplace for over 21 years total, they are a quality product. Vestal also makes different models of this grate that will work for larger fireplace or wood/coal heaters. all you need to do is make measurements of your firebox & get the one that best meets your needs.

Arrived pretty well packed. It is one piece and fairly sturdy.

The dimensions match the description. I actually used it inside my masonry heater after the original grate died.

This one may not last much longer, but at this price if I get a year or two it will be a good deal.
